  3:16am Julie:

  3:18am fred von helsing:

  3:19am cheri:

well julie have a great show,,,see you soon,,,
  3:20am Julie:

Goodnight Cheri, Good Morning FVH
  3:29am fred:

Good morning Julie and fred. Are we down to just freds in the comments?
  3:30am fred von helsing:

Right!, said Freds
  3:30am Julie:

it's a festival of Freds! you can give the Davids a run for their money!
  3:32am jaycjay:

Well, for the sake of variety...
  3:34am Julie:

We need a couple more than you can do the freddy!
  3:34am fred von helsing:

"Festival of Freds"? I assume it's based on fried food, cheap beer, and garage bands...
  3:36am fred von helsing:

Accu-Playlist ROCKS! I find myself checking basically every song... thanks for doing the bookkeeping, Mlle. DJ!
  3:37am jaycjay:

It'd be a festival of peace!
  3:38am Julie:

all Freds should go to DC and join hands as a peace protest. And that includes Fred from Angel :)
  3:40am fred von helsing:

We have our own music festival too
  3:41am fred:

You'd need some more American Freds to do that.
In other news pierre is back from vacations, he may drop by later
  3:42am Julie:

I missed Pierre!
  3:43am fred:

Wasn't he supposed to record something for you?
  3:45am Julie:

  3:46am fred:

I'll nag him about it next time I see him if hasn't delivered yet
  3:46am fred von helsing:

Toay's musical theme seems to be "ethereal".. when you said "WFMU take me away", did you mean shuffling off this mortal coil ?? :-O
  3:48am Julie:

@Fred I needed comfort music :)
  3:49am Julie:

I also think it fits with Marissa's vibe
  3:49am fred von helsing:

then don't forget the donuts ! :)
  4:00am jaycjay:

Sven Friedrich = founding member of Dreadful Shadows in Berlin in the early 90s.
  4:09am Julie:

thanks Jay will have to check them out
  4:09am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Julie!
Angelic Marissa Nadler--such a nice song. Reminds me of Amy Annelle.
  4:10am Julie:

Howdy, Matt! I don't know her name I will have to check her out
  4:14am Matt from Springfield:

I first heard Amy Annelle on Irwin's show. Aug 26 2009 there is a wonderful live set with this unique folksinger, most of which is on the FMA. In fact you can celebrate that live set's 2nd anniversary!

"Heart Paper Lover" was on last week, I liked that one too though it had more production than this solo set.
  4:14am david from ks.:

  4:15am david from ks.:

  4:16am fred:

I'll be late for work -- as usual on tuesdays -- but I'm glad I'm catching this session. I saw Marissa Nadler open for Laura Veirs years ago, but hadn't heard much from her since
  4:17am fred von helsing:

If today's show were any more ethereal, we'd all be in limbo already :)
  4:18am Matt from Springfield:

You played the CTs "Victorialand" again earlier! At the right speed I hope? ;)
  4:18am Julie:

yes, Matt I did!
  4:19am Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: I thought we already were...
  4:24am Matt from Springfield:

Ah, the pedal on a 12-string. That was almost like double tracking.
  4:24am Julie:

she's playing unreleased stuff, i love that :)
  4:25am Matt from Springfield:

World premieres, on Dark Night of the Soul!
  4:27am fred:

Who's the engineer on that session?
  4:27am Julie:

Ernie Indradat. He's awesome
  4:28am Julie:

He did Eliza's as well.
  4:30am maja:

Hi all, greetings from holland where the rain is hammering down right now. Marissa's tunes floating wonderful together with all the water streaming everywhere.
  4:30am Matt from Springfield:

As well as all of Brian Turner's sets lately. I agree, he's awesome.
  4:30am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Maja! Wonderful imagery, glad you could listen to Marissa in that rain!
  4:31am fred von helsing:

@maja cool!
  4:32am fred:

I agree about the awesomeness. I really have to leave now, there's a fine line between late and AWOL.
  4:33am Julie:

I just had the oddest aural experience.I went into the library to get a cd, and marissa's voice live and on delay it really fit the song so perfectly..like an echo. I may have to try and mix one like that
  4:33am Julie:

bye Fred thanks for stopping by!
  4:34am Julie:

Maja we recorded this on a very rainy day. It was perfect.
  4:34am fred von helsing:

This music is so light and airy, I can feel the pounds melting away ! :-D
  4:35am Matt from Springfield:

A l a la b as ast er r Que en ee n...
  4:35am Matt from Springfield:

Try mixing the 12-string ones like that, they would work great with echo/delay.
  4:36am Julie:

Ernie also engineered for the sisters from Fanny on Surface noise this week. We keep him very busy!
  4:41am other david:

Good morning all, what a beautiful voice Marissa Nadler has. Gorgeous music :)
  4:45am Julie:

@OD isn't she though?! Hypnotized
  4:48am fred von helsing:

Oh dear, when you say "HIP-NO-TIZED" I picture Letterman with his eyes bugging out :-O
  4:49am Julie:

haha I think of the hypnotoad
  4:53am fred von helsing:

gotta go to a meeting soon, drat !
  4:53am Julie:

post-meeting archive, FVH :)
  4:57am other david:

I sort of love it when someone so talented can sound so shy and modest in an interview.

Oh dear, a jackhammer started up outside my house. At least they waited for her set to end ;(
  4:57am Julie:

she is VERY shy.
  4:59am Julie:

oh by the way the picture at the top of the page is NOT Marissa haha
  5:03am Matt from Springfield:

@Julie I figured as much :)
How many hair-pulling, screaming female photos does this make for the playlist? At least 2...
  5:03am other david:

hah, I hadn't made such a connection :P

Thank you for sharing a beautiful set
  5:03am Matt from Springfield:

Wooo! Go Ernie Indradat! A true resource of WFMU!
  5:05am Julie:

@Matt yeah something like that :) @OD my pleasure..she's just wonderful. I was afraid she would be too folky for the show, but she fit in nicely :)
  5:07am Matt from Springfield:

Love this "L. Cohen" song. Marissa sings it well, so ethereally, and that swoony theremin-like organ makes it even more dreamy. I just get caught up in this hypnotic version!
  5:08am other david:

there's a haunting quality to her voice & music which fits in rather perfectly with the show :)
  5:09am hamburger:

morning y'all :)

wonder if that hair pulling woman has released any music
  5:10am Matt from Springfield:

And a fade out before the traditional "Sincerely, L. Cohen" ending. That was a good decision--a wake up to the dream!

And for the record she sang the American "without" (instead of "with-OAT"), and though I was listening for it, it's so nice and hypnotic I wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't TRYING to spot it!
  5:12am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, at the rate you're going I'll have to bookmark this Archive for a cold and rainy day!
  5:16am Matt from Springfield:

CELESTA!!!! Cha-les-ta, or Se-les-ta, this is a wonderful one, even if it's Tuesday Morning!
  5:16am hamburger:

wooohoo - even though it's tuesday - nothing wrong with a lil sunday morning :D
  5:17am other david:

The Velvets! oh damn, I'm going to have to listen to the whole album again now :)
  5:17am Julie:

I checked out Celestas. They run about $4000
  5:18am Matt from Springfield:

@hamburger: Great minds...
@OD: It's a fantastic album though, always worth re-exploring!
  5:20am Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: That's the problem with really cool, obscure keyboards. Harpsichords also run pretty expensive.
  5:23am Julie:

yes I loved Marissa so much I forgot to take her out of the cd player. Bonus!
  5:35am other david:

It's the Celesta and Harpsichord power hour with Julie :D
  5:36am Julie:

not intentional..but I do like it..I wonder if I could find some Donovan with that...
  5:37am Matt from Springfield:

"There Was A Time" from Gift From A Flower To A Garden--ROCKIN harpsichord!
  5:38am Julie:

hmmm...let's see
  5:41am T-Zero:

Nice dulcet program this morning. Perfectly suited for my drained energy level.
  5:44am Julie:

thanks T-Zero!
  5:45am hamburger:

I could hear Clay singing along to this
  5:45am Julie:

I tried! he was into Sam
  5:45am Matt from Springfield:

It almost sounded like a remix at first, is this a remastered?

@hamburger: Yes! I'll hold him to it!
  5:48am Matt from Springfield:

ANOTHER DAY!! Peter & Kate from her 1979 Christmas Special!! Wonderful selection for this morning!

Written by Roy Harper, also sung by Liz Fraser on the first This Mortal Coil album.
  5:48am Julie:

Hmm not sure..The reissues have been pretty substandard
  5:48am Julie:

Yep I know TMC's too. Birthday request from listener Van.
  5:49am Matt from Springfield:

Lovely request--happy birthday Van!
(Also Tori, belatedly!)
  5:49am Julie:

it's so sad :( :(
  5:50am T-Zero:

I only have one of her productions (from 1997), but Georgia Kelly's Seapeace album is nice harp music. And while neither harp nor celesta, I really like Suzanne Ciani's piano (Hotel Lune 1991, Pianissimo, 1990). (Just sayin' . . .)
  5:51am Matt from Springfield:

I've always loved that "Rockin" harpsichord at the verse endings!
  5:51am other david:

superb choice Matt :D
  5:51am Julie:

thank you! Yay for Spotify!
  5:51am Julie:

I bet there is some Herman's Hermits as well
  5:51am T-Zero:

err that would be Luna not Lune

And I so love donovan, glad you played this.
  5:53am Matt from Springfield:

Don't let Clay listen to the Herman's..he'll be talking like Peter Noone all day!
The Kinks! Harpsichord! "Her Sister" is another fab one.
  5:55am Matt from Springfield:

"DIGITAL BLUNTNESS!" It's what all the kids are doin'!
  5:55am Matt from Springfield:

Oops, sorry, that was just my stream going out!
  5:56am other david:

Matt - same happened here.

Great show Julie, thanks :)
  5:57am Matt from Springfield:

Also, that "Another Day" clip is available on YT:

Interesting visuals to go with the lyrics.
  5:57am pierre:

Bonjour Julie !
i missed you during my (to short) holidays !
Bonjour listeners !
  5:58am Matt from Springfield:

Bonjour, et au revoir! See you later maybe!

Thanks Julie, this was a show for the ages!
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
  5:59am other david:

You too Matt, and Bonjour Pierre - nice to see you on the comments again :)
  5:59am hamburger:

  6:04am Julie:

Thanks you guys!
  2:33pm Van in Dallas:

Awesome show Julie! Thank you so much for the birthday request "Another Day"! And thanks Matt from Springfield! Marissa was really great, thanks Julie. Nerdkween fit in so well with today's show, just as she did with Irene's!
  9:35pm Marmalade Kitty:

  10:08pm Marmalade Kitty:

Point me at the sky! Great set ..sounds like Roger to me ;)
  10:48pm Marmalade Kitty:

  8:29am Van in DC:

  11:22am Van in DC:

Ha! Listening to the interview with Marissa, she mentions that her new record is to be released on...wait for it...wait for it...June 14th. That would be today :)
  12:03pm Van in DC:

I had forgotten that you played "Another Day" for me as a birthday request Julie. Listening again, thanks again :)
