  9:25am David:

For some reason I've always thought Boz Scaggs should have covered this song.
  9:27am mike tp:

  10:17am Taavi:

Bob--

You probably know about Hampton Hawes's album of spirtuals. And of course the Shepp duo record wtih.... ah.. Horace Parlan.
  10:20am Peter K.:

"Jackie-ing" changes = "When the Saints Go Marching In"? Sorry, I'm just not hearing it. But that may just be my harmonic ignorance showing. Anyway, great show as always!
  10:23am tomB:

I hear it -- Saints is in Monk's line, but only reflected in the Horns and at a different speed than Monk is playing. But I would not have heard it w/o the tip.
  10:39am Peter K.:

@tomB: Then it's not based on the *chords* of "Saints," right? Maybe Bob didn't say that, but that's what I always assume is meant when a jazz piece is said to be "based on" a standard tune. Whatever. Good tune, in any case.
  11:01am Peter K.:

"Skate Now" was released two years after Riverside went bankrupt. The label got taken over by a bank and didn't do much more than reissue old titles and put out some stuff that had been recorded but not released under the old regime. This single was a one-shot as far as I know. Did Lou Courtney ever release anything else?
