Hi Irwin!
  3:02pm
Carmichael:

OK, here we go.
  3:06pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hello Irwin and all!

Has Dave King ever heard bpNichol's pieces? bpNichol can say "poem" in "concrete".
  3:15pm
Listening Out There:

Sounds like Dave King's band should be called Happy Trucking...
  3:17pm
Cognitive Dissonance:

Whaddaya mean I failed?! I didn't fail! In fact failure doesn't exist! I don't even exist!
  3:17pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I CAN'T BREATHE
  3:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

Is everyone hiding out there today? Come on out, I'll be around today, but in and out. So someone needs to cover for me here!
  3:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: Calm down, I can help. Are you 1) underwater or 2) in a vacuum? If you answered no to both of those, then you're already halfway to recovery.
  3:19pm
Ike:

The term "Mazeway Re-Synthesis" sounds cult-a-licious, even if it's actually not.
  3:22pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

cute singers help restore normal breathing
  3:23pm
jan:

Lost and Found- very Cute-oh. suki-desu
  3:24pm
Ike:

And if you ARE in a vacuum, don't worry. Just use your 11G brainlink modem to order the Mazeway Re-Synthesis Corporation's medical nanobots. Many of them are in a dormant state throughout the universe's areas of vacuum, waiting for your order. They only need a few milliseconds to weave you a protective hyperbaric foam chamber. Put it on your DisneyDiscoverNewsCorp card. Just four installments of 860000 Venusian credits. Money back guarantee!
  3:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Right Trousers are the Fight Trousers!
  3:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Ike: Amazing world we live in! Or, did you take another job, at a nanobot corporation in 2161?
  3:28pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I got my ears fixed and things are sounding bright
  3:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: Sweet! To the 17th power!
The sounds are so bright, you gotta wear......
synesthesia?
  3:34pm
Ike:

@MfS: Oops, must've been a rip in the fabric of time, space, and all that jazz. Let's blame Sun Ra.
  3:36pm
Carmichael:

Yes because, after all, space IS the place.
  3:38pm
fleep:

Uh, oh -- it's another nasty rip in the fabric of spacetime ,,, and you have to teleport the kids to Alpha Centauri for their fnord lessons! What to do? Just use MegaMendit! Takes just seconds, blends with any spacetime fabric. Your neighbors the black hole leaves behind will love you for it!
  3:38pm
Peteski:

This is my favorite show of all time
  3:38pm
Listener Bill:

"my favorite _ of all time" is one of my favorite phrases of all time ... and space.
  3:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

That Michael Shelley is bogarting all the special guests around here! Swamp Dogg from Joe McG, Fountains of Wayne from Irwin...maybe you should put him to work bogarting guests from other STATIONS!
  3:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Peteski: Hey, you're not missing anything! Did you at least miss the theme today? Or are you missing the show AFTER 5?
  3:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

OMFG!! Wizz-O doing Ebony And Ivory!!
Score! "Play" that solo, Chris!
  3:41pm
Matt from Springfield:

And does he have the radio on another song, or is that you playing something over this, Irwin?
  3:45pm
jan:

We can only hope that you will play Chris Palestis and Alexander Berger in lieu of Amanda. They are just as melifluous.
  3:45pm
still b/p:

That sounded like Robert Reich having a go at the song.
  3:56pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Irwin, what is the name of the music you play often (with pause) during or before DJ speaks? I think of it as "the lift " elevator track..
  3:56pm
Uncle Floyd:

Sounds familiar.
  3:58pm
Geneticist:

Are we sure that's *human* DNA?
  3:59pm
The Real Tony Bennett (DNA):

Oy!
  4:00pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi MK!
Do you mean the "Carmen Don't Worry" piano piece? That was by longtime WFMU collaborator R. Stevie Moore.
  4:02pm
Marmalade Kitty:

thanks matt! that sounds like the one
  4:02pm
yayson:

i always thought it was 'occidental slip on an oriental rug' till i saw the playlist
  4:04pm
Separated at Birth?:

"Carmen Don't Worry" -- R. Stevie Moore
"Don't You Worry Bout a Thing" Stevie Wonder
  4:06pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Jupiter is the craziest MFing place, I tell ya!
  4:07pm
Debbie D:

Well, this is pretty great so far.
  4:07pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

  4:13pm
Robert:

That's my boy, Iwrin; you've done it again.
  4:17pm
ScottC:

Call your senators and house member and inform them that News Corp is in violation of this law : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Corrupt_Practices_Act
  4:19pm
Marmalade Kitty:

This is so good, Irwin!!
  4:23pm
hamburger / london:

I'm too afraid they may have h4xx3d my phone and reveal all my escapades and hijinx :-/ like the -alleged- incident involving a hot dog and some jalapeno sauce..
  4:24pm
ScottC:

that sounds HOT!
  4:27pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Top top TOP!!!
  4:29pm
bruceleh:

Question for the Good Doctor:
Is there anyone who can influence WKCR or Phil Schaap to make available online the amazing '87 interview with Sun Ra?
I know I heard it rebroadcast on WKCR circa '92, so it's got to be recorded somewhere.
I'd even pay $$$ for it (and all the rest of the Schaap interviews).
  4:30pm
Debbie D:

Can't wait for Sunday.
  4:34pm
Ike:

(I'm not sure anybody can make Phil Schaap do anything. Especially not to shut up about what Charlie Parker ate for breakfast that morning and play some damn music.)
  4:34pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Sunra was doing the do before people realised, they may have tried to bump him had they realised
  4:38pm
Carmichael:

My request would be Reflections in Blue (the song).

Wonderful interview, fantastic music. And I remember Hambone, though I think I heard it on Captain Kangaroo (which could be wrong). But so much good stuff here, thank the stars for WFMU (and Sonny and Michael).
