Bonjour Pierre, had a great time in France! I'll play some French radio surfing towards the end of the show today.
  9:37am Chris uk:

I'm listening to the show in England. Looking forward to the recordings of the French radio stations. There is a French radio station in London these days called ... French Radio London. They've got a website. Best wishes Chris.

  10:09am dc pat:

  10:10am Mutton:

  10:10am Liz B.:

Glad you dig, Mutton and Pat! I agree about getting all of these bands together for a big popfest, nice idea.
  10:18am other david:

  10:22am dc pat:

  10:25am Dead Corporate Eyes:

I've seen \m/ before but I don't know what it means and google wasn't helpful for once
  10:26am pierre:

i think (@DCE) its the symbol when you make horn with your hands, like in those rock gigs, i'm guessing (through Dave B's advice)
  10:29am Dead Corporate Eyes:

as in "throwing the goat"...I guess I can see that now. thanks pierre!
  10:30am Dead Corporate Eyes:

(internet for dummies)
  10:34am pierre:

exactly DCE, you're welcome
> btw that what Dave B makes :

\m/ (^_^) \m/

or something like that…
  10:47am Liz B.:

Hi Pierre, I had a lot of seafood in the south of France! Oysters in Meze, yummy crab and fish in Port Vendres, tuna tartare in Peyriac de Mer... too much good stuff to remember!
  10:51am pierre:

Port Vendres ! That near Collioure, i spent lots of holydays there !
the dreaming is coming true. Thanks for those menus.
how i would love to go there.
  11:02am Liz B.:

We didn't stay in Port Vendres, but just stopped for lunch. That whole area, including Collioure, was very beautiful!
  11:04am pierre:

i'm glad we get to have the same pictures in mind, it is beautiful indeed.
(when a special wfmu week in this area?)
  11:05am Dave B:

\m/ (>_<) \m/

  11:07am Dave B:

and I just learned my good friend in Les Lilas will be moving to Toulousse in July.

c'est la vie!
  11:08am Dave B:

and good day Liz Berg, Pierre and everyone!
  11:10am Dead Corporate Eyes:

a very cool idea with the dialscan collage
  11:11am Liz B.:

Hi Dave B! Having a friend in Toulouse is a good thing (you can visit)!
  11:11am listener james from westwood:

diggin' the dial scan. like a visit from sublime frequencies!
  11:12am pierre:

Hello Dave B, cool to see you hear, spreading the good doodles !
(mine was too happy, i remembered yours is tougher !)
Toulouse is one of my favourite cities in France, the "Pink City" is great !
So now you have a friend in Toulouse and in Paris ! Man you are so welcome over here !
  11:13am Dave B:

J'aime Paris, mais Toulousse sonne bien aussi!
  11:13am βrian:

Coullioure? Mmmm, that makes me thirsty. I loves me some Coullioure.
  11:16am βrian:

The last time I was in Toulouse, the markets were full of Reine Claude plums and chanterelles.
  11:16am other david:

As a certifiable radio geek, I'm really enjoying this dialscan :)
  11:16am Dave B:

the confused doodle, for dealing with difficult math

Pierre, I might try to pass thru France in October on my way to Dubai and beyond.
  11:18am βrian:

Hey, I just had a tariquet last night!
  11:19am northguineahills:

Yeah, I concur w/ the love of this dialscan.
  11:19am Liz B.:

Some of the radio stations I was flipping through: Freq 7, Radio M (Montelimar), Behr, Cherie FM, Oui FM, Nostalgi, Bleu Gard, Classique, and more.
  11:19am pierre:

listeners you are sending me dreams here.
Dave you are definitively welcome, if you don't know where to crash, drink, eat, it'll be pleasure to see you. (i might see Julie this week, as she's in london).
I have a family house in the Gers, (department near Toulouse) i'm officially welcoming any wfmu listeners there. But carefull its rough tough french countryside, nothing to do appart from listening to fmu, and sleeping in hamacs, tough lives
  11:20am Carmichael:

Hiya Liz and Lizners.
  11:21am pierre:

Tariquet !
man, you know your wines, i specially love this one !
(by the way > Marciac Jazz Festival is not far from the Gers, so if there is any fmu listeners during the festival let me know)
  11:22am βrian:

Pierre, Auch was the first night's stop on a bike trip I did several years ago. We were famished and had a dish of scallops with fresh pasta. And tariquet. Extase !
  11:25am PGB:

I thought I'd use this collage to test the song identifier app I just got for my phone. Worked great: "Le Complexe du Cornflakes" by -M-. I love technology! (And this show, too!)
  11:26am Liz B.:

Nice, PGB! Glad the song ID app works so well!
  11:27am Dave B:

@PGB - which app are you using?
  11:27am pierre:

^_^ Auch trough bike trip sound nice, you must have been warm enough
  11:28am PGB:

On the Android platform: Soundhound (paid version, no adverts)
  11:29am dc pat:

DId he just say "Yannick Noah???"
  11:32am darue:

FYI - you might like to check out: radio nostalgie
  11:32am Dave B:

@Pierre & Liz B - this is the collection where I heard "LE COEUR AU BOUT DES DOIGTS" - good stuff:

  11:33am βrian:

C'était au début d'octobre quand it faisait beau. Point de chaleur.
  11:35am βrian:

This is too charming. But I must go. À la prochaine.
  11:37am stucco toast:

cool. i used to play dialscans on my radio show too.
medium wave and short wave, plus scanner (police, fire, and cell phone), and everything else. love the subliminal frequencies.
would like to hear more foreign dialscans for earth, or whatever you got.
  11:39am other david:

@stucco - I've done a few similar things, shortwave scans - recording broadcasters, numbers stations, planes over the atlantic and stuff - they're on archive.org under "shortwave snippets"
  11:39am Liz B.:

Got a few dialscans from Spain on these archives:
  11:40am other david:

sweet I'll check those shows out
  11:41am pierre:

hahaha… Nostalgie is what i listened when i'm doing the dishes, now i listen to fmu.
@Dave B : thanks !^^
  11:42am Dave B:

if you haven't seen/heard "You Are Listening To New York City" kinda neat.

Live police radio scans over a bed of ambient music

  11:42am Liz B.:

Whoa cool, thanks for the tip, Dave B!
  11:43am Dave B:

sharing is caring Liz B!
  11:44am other david:

wfmu, the home of music and radio geeks, thanks Dave B :)
  11:45am Dave B:

aussi, pour version francaise (quebecoise)- http://youarelistening.to/montreal
  11:46am aaron in chicago:

for some reason I prefer http://youarelistening.to/chicago
  11:46am other david:

I quite like this track...
  11:48am aaron in chicago:

other david: it's "le brio" by big soul
  11:48am other david:

not the europop (!) - the music madam/popular, damn my absolute dearth of french
  11:49am other david:

aaron in chicago, thank you sir :)
  11:50am Liz B.:

Who needs song ID apps when you have the WFMU listener comments board?! Go Aaron!
  11:50am dc pat:

love the dialscan. great stuff.
  11:50am aaron in chicago:

de rien !
  11:54am PGB:

Here's how the software in the song ID app works. It captures the audio as a file, then sends it over the Internet to aaron in chicago. He responds, and the song title appears on the phone.
  11:54am pierre:

love the dialscan x 2
(ooh les Rita Mitsouko)
  11:56am pierre:

whoa, you've manage to find interesting stuff there Liz.
  11:57am Dave B:

@ Liz B - what gear did you use to record these scans, and where were were they recorded? (hotel room, car etc)
  12:03pm Liz B.:

Dave B, I used my Roland Edirol recorder and it was all from the car stereo. Nothing fancy sound-quality wise or anything.
  1:09am ADR:

Thanks for playin the Warmer Milks 7"! you rule.
