Hey Irene !
  12:18pm
12539:

Dulcimer, kora...I'm expecting a harp for the trifecta.
  12:18pm
dc pat:

Man, I have this LP somewhere. Very nice.
  12:21pm
βrian:

Yes, I have it, too. I believe it's just not possible to overplay. I've tried and failed repeatedly.
  12:25pm
dc pat:

Have to get it on cd somehow. It was a Folkways-like label I think?
  12:29pm
βrian:

Amazon has it: "New Ancient Strings"
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00000JFRU/
  12:29pm
Cecile:

That's the Glenn Jones from Cul De Sac, right? The liner notes from that one recording they did with John Fahey are kind of amazing and harrowing.
  12:30pm
βrian:

There's a black-capped chickadee in my headphones.
  12:32pm
dc pat:

I was talkin about Sidike Diabate Djelimadi Sissoko actually..
  12:32pm
annie:

i love the chickadee..... i'm not here at the comments se3ction really.. painting windows.. i'm here in spirit.
  12:36pm
βrian:

Paint on. Listen to the music; listen to the brush.
  12:37pm
richard c:

Hi Irene, can I request something? Gary Lucas played this at the UCB theatre last Wednesday and it's lovely: Gary Lucas "Lady of Shalott" I think the new album has just been released. Thanks!
  12:39pm
postmanpaul:

Hello Irene and all above, below and sideways. We are beginning to wonder if our cat Bob is a practicing bigamist.... he used to return home regularly with mice and things like that but now comes home late with only excuses for his absence.
  12:46pm
still b/p:

PMP - Aren't there plenty of casinos in your neighborhood? Bob's mistress might be one-armed, irresistible and insatiable. Check their security vids, and watch your change at home.
  12:53pm
postmanpaul:

Bob's had the 'snip' still b/p. No, we think it's worse than the lurid scenario you paint, he may be sharing his love with anothers lap and sofa ;(
  12:54pm
annie:

glorious sounds glorious!!! hello all..
  12:54pm
12539:

@ postmanpaul: I've seen this sort of thing before, in sitcoms. Bob is probably planning a surprise party for you.
  12:57pm
richard c:

Woo Hoo!! Thanks
  12:58pm
annie:

our old girl cissy used to live across the street for a few months, staring out of their garage at us... should traded homes often..that old girl lived to be 23..
  12:59pm
postmanpaul:

Ooh 12539, that's nice. He used to like watching sitcoms with us.
  1:01pm
Detroit Mac:

Sad music for the death today of a cyclist in the Giro d'italia. RIP Wouter Weylandt
  1:01pm
Irene:

Happy to oblige, richard c!
  1:02pm
Kevinfrom BayRidge:

Gary did this song @ SSD @UCB last Weds.
  1:04pm
Parq:

Kind of interesting that Gods & Monsters include alum of the Modern Lovers and Television, and even Wikipedia describes the band as psychedelic, yet they chose to open their SSD guest shot (as Kevin and Irene note) with that lilting, Fairport-Conventionish accoustic tune.
  1:05pm
Parq:

As Richard C notes, too; sorry, didn't scroll up enough.
  1:07pm
βrian:

Berthiaume: "bear" "tea" "ohm"
  1:08pm
Kevinfrom BayRidge:

Given the Fripp-ish connection, not to many degrees of separation to Fairport-ishness
  1:09pm
βrian:

Pronunciation, not meaning, for heaven's sake.
  1:17pm
VS in DFW:

Obsessed with this album, as of late. Good to hear it somewhere other than my cd player!
  1:51pm

Same here, mike g. I'm sort of a 'late bloomer' on PJ but now playing catch-up. Love it!

  1:54pm

  2:04pm

  2:05pm
Sean Gostage:

Hey Irene and good evening to all your loyal listeners
  2:12pm
thomas:

Missed the Glenn Jones track. Got to listen to the archive! Thanks for the great show Irene (as always)!
  2:15pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Irene & chums, late arrival. Great to see to you played the kora earlier. I guess that you mentioned that Sidike Diabate is Toumani's dad. There is a change in style/technique between the generations. Dad is more formal, son loose and outgoing. Eitherway one of the most wonderful instruments in my humble. Only on your show, Irene.
  2:18pm
Brian in UK:

PMP you have to check for weight gain to confirm whether your lil' darlin' is milking it somewhereselse.
  2:18pm
Irene:

Better Late than never, Sean, Thomas and Brian! As you probably know, you can check out all you missed in the archives.
  2:39pm
Eye in the Sky:

I can read your mind.
  3:02pm
12539:

Thank you, Irene!
  3:02pm
Handsome Harry:

Great show today.
  3:05pm
VS in DFW:

Thoroughly enjoyed your playlist Irene. First time I've had the pleasure of listening.
