  12:02pm Cheri Pi:

SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12:02pm Cecile:

YES.
  12:03pm Cheri Pi:

This what we're talking aboot!
  12:03pm Chris from DC:

Oh yes. This will do nicely.
  12:05pm Cecile:

Now, do you have any The Head Cat?
  12:05pm SmokinJ:

yessir...
  12:05pm Richard from Venezuela:

Terrific opening song.
  12:11pm kamikaze:

Joe playin' Slayer, what a way to start off lunch!!!
  12:13pm Parq:

Never heard the Kinks track. Didn't know they ever did anything so Texas-garagey.
  12:15pm zoots:

Which came first, that Kinks tune or The High Numbers' (The Who's) I'm the Face?
  12:19pm Joe B:

Hi everyone! thanks for tunin in! Fleshtones tickets for Friday at maxwells coming up in a little while
  12:20pm SmokinJ:

OMIGOD! If only I had a jet plane!
  12:20pm Cheri Pi:

THAt Kinks song is on a lil old bootleg that's not too hard to find.
  12:21pm SmokinJ:

Tentatively appearing in Milwaukee 4-5-11.
  12:31pm kamikaze:

Ribeyes, yeah! Springsteen is hip to them? That is awesome!
  12:33pm Cecile:

Bet Miami Steve, I mean Little Steven, I mean Steven VanZandt turned him on to them.
  12:34pm Cecile:

I'm doing my Jami-Lane-shimmy-dance now. Great Insomniacs tune.
  12:35pm Cecile:

I don't like Warrant, but bro could dance.
  12:36pm Joe B:

The singer of the Ribeyes works at a cool record store, Jack's, in Red Bank NJ. The Boss comes in regularly and made good on his word to come to a gig! Little Steven actually deemed the Ribeyes unhip.
  12:36pm Cecile:

Really? That sucks about Steve, and good for Bruce for supporting local music.
  12:37pm Joe B:

LS apparently is into image as well. He told the Insomniacs they needed a fourth member to "make it".
  12:38pm efd:

I was kind of made fun of for playing this Insomniacs song (by a member of the band, no less!) but I really like it!
  12:38pm Cecile:

Oh. BROTHER.
  12:39pm Cecile:

efd, how can you resist that Faces shimmy? And the Chuck Berry quote?
  12:40pm Cecile:

well, I do like some of LS's shows, but I get tired of kingmakers. Garage music doesn't need a Clive Davis.
  12:44pm ?:

LS has done a lot of good for a lot of bands, but I guess he wants credit for reinventing the wheel
  12:45pm Parq:

Hear hear, 'Cile! Actually, for the artist, staying out of the star making machinery can mean more money, as they need not settle for their teensie big-lable royalty. Of course, it could also mean less pussy and blow ...
  12:47pm Cecile:

?, I think that's it!
  12:48pm Cecile:

Parq, there's something about being on MTV and being able to have your mom brag about you to the neighbors that's pretty powerful.
  12:51pm Steve L:

Not knowing, until now, that the Insomniacs were a trio now makes me love them even more.
  12:52pm Parq:

All well and good, 'Cile, but if your sound isn't that cutsie "what the kids want" sound that the majors are turning out, you get signed but then allowed to languish, and MTV and your mom's next-doors have never heard of you, yeh?
  12:53pm Parq:

I just think it's time non-mainstream artists in all media spend less time trying to work with Big Show Biz and more time pursuing different avenues altogether. In fact, I think FMU is the very model of that sort of approach, and proof that it works.
  12:53pm Cecile:

I'm not condoning it, just describing it. You and I know better, but there's always that carrot being held out to people.
  12:55pm Parq:

But I totally get what you mean -- if you're young and that "star" carrot is held out to you, you'd have to be mighty strong and mature to turn your back on it.
  12:56pm Cecile:

i seriously think in the past some good talent development snuck into the majors, but that was the first casualty of cost-cutting. The band that spent 10 years touring, selling 300,000 and then had the big hit are now managing and producing themselves, where in the past they would have had label support and resources.
  12:57pm kamikaze:

OMG
  12:57pm Cecile:

I want there to be tons of Dickie Goodman remixes.
  12:59pm David Shortell:

I remember a LS-promoted show a decade back, where the Insomniacs singer revealed that his mom once taught Steven piano!
  1:00pm Jersey ex-pat:

Wow! Greazy Tony .... someone in our Wayne, NJ neighborhood had this on vinyl "back in the day." I am ecstatic this did not disappear into the ether and now I have a name to attach to the memory! Thanks!
  1:01pm still b/p:

I was just browsing a boatload of Jaws goof and trivia info on IMDB about 20 minutes ago and portions of its script there and elsewhere. What does this mean? I'll be anxious on my bike ride home.
  1:02pm Kaiser Catfish:

Hey Joe, greets from Bavaria--back for better bier lessons. Rest assured, I would not cross the street for a dangling star carrot! Free beer and vintage VW parts, though, and you got me. PROST! Dan
  1:05pm Cecile:

Seriously, a Mr. Jaws contest would be great.
  1:09pm Pussy and Blow:

Meh.
  1:09pm seang:

Waco Brothers kick butt!
  1:12pm SmokinJ:

Go Tones'!
  1:15pm still b/p:

Can someone please write a Pussy and Blow song to the tune of the early 70s hit Precious and Few?
  1:25pm Dee:

Awesome tunes makes me want to BBQ
  1:26pm Dee:

Yes searing meat over primitive fires, Don't blame me I didn't invent cooking.
  1:28pm Dee:

You know i was going to say this sounds like the feelies . . .
  1:29pm Dee:

or REM gardening at night
  1:30pm Steve L:

Primitive Fires unleashes their new, smash hit: Pussy and Blow!
  1:32pm Dee:

Hey Steve, I I I I think you nare trying to make a funny.
  1:33pm Parq:

Pussy and blow are the carrots Big Show Biz has ..
To persuade brand now talent to sign and sell their ass ..
And when they get them locked inside
All they do with that talent is hide
Pussy and blow are a trap for some shmoe out therrrrrre!
  1:34pm glenn:

fuck the yankees. one good starting pitcher, one good reliever. jeter's old and a'rod's a dick.
  1:34pm efd:

Yankees-Tigers in progress, 0-0 going into the top of the 2nd.
  1:35pm Dee:

Where do i sign up?
  1:37pm another:

Pussy and Blow were the carrots
My label could shaaaaare,
Hooked like a trout, I broke out
to claim fame that was raaaaare,
But when I tanked and my figures dove low,
They said you suck, c'est la guerre,
Then pussy and blow were replaced with shots of despair...
  1:38pm Cecile:

do you have I'm Sorry But So Is Brenda Lee?
  1:38pm MuttonChops:

BRAVO!!!
  1:38pm glenn:

Fred Eaglesmith has a great song /cautionary tale called Alcohol and Pills.
  1:40pm seang:

@glenn--yeah that song is great! I heard Todd Snider's version
  1:40pm MuttonChops:

You are killing it with this set!
  1:40pm Cecile:

great song parodies, folks.
  1:43pm Cecile:

thanks, Joe!
  1:47pm glenn:

marshall crenshaw represent!
1:48pm not the same four people.:

just to mix it up
  1:50pm MuttonChops:

Request:How about the Kelly Family I wont pee in my bed tonight
  1:51pm Cecile:

Always liked Ben's version better, but thanks to Marshall to turning me on to the song.
  2:00pm dc pat:

that was a great Fresh and onlys tune.
  2:01pm Cecile:

I'll see everyone later. Have a great afternoon.
  2:38pm dc pat:

man, Cecile is powerful.
  2:38pm ken in denver:

I don't know if I'd like that Liminanas album as much if I spoke French. They have a cool video too.
  2:40pm miss rapid transit:

Hahaha! They don't want it in German! (Great show Joe!)
  2:53pm Parq:

Fine show, Giusepp. It's nasty out, and getting more so by the minute, so put on that coat before you head out.
  2:56pm KevinWho:

saw RDS in Cleveland Friday w/ Cynics, Mtg of Impt Ppl, and 45 Spider; RDS did a bunch of eerie Coltrane-y stuff like that
  3:02pm ?:

Dale was a pefect closer. Your show is like the prok chop platter at my favorite bar - terrific every time.
