Listener comments!

  3:09am
Adam from Chicago:

You got it, my brother! Thank you for leading me to this unique pioneer of freeform college radio, that has outlived Uppsala College by 16 years...you have my pledge, sir.

Everyone do the same!

And, just to say it now: FREE LIBYA! QADDAFI IS GOING DOWN! Long time coming...
  3:11am

And we need bad service!
  3:11am
marty mcsorley:

  3:13am
minnesota jeff:

That version of Pink FLoyds money was rad. Also rad is what this dude named MOON8 did, he re-created the entire Dark Side of the Moon album using the Nintendo Entertainment System sound chip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euLdKW_Db1k Its got some amazing atmosphere.
  3:15am
minnesota jeff:

Or rather his name is Brad Smith and he is calling the album "Moon 8"
  3:18am
Joshua K:

Adam from Chicago:

We few, we happy few, we band of...others...
  3:28am
Adam from Chicago:

The Al Jarnow films are excellent...I remember some of them from "3-2-1 Contact" and "Seasame Street." Later, I had the benefit of seeing the screening when the DVD, of which I am a proud owner, was released.
  3:34am
mike noble in dc:

woah, good to hear that vdp version. i had only heard the harpers bizarre.
  3:39am
Joshua K:

I tried to use that "other box" and fill in an amount but it gave me $15 again. Can you guys adjust it, I was going to do one single $75 before I hit the sack.
  3:40am
maja:

Good morning Jesse and Marty. Wish you a very good Marathon-show!
Jesse I like your fathers paintings a lot.
WFMU is the best!
  3:43am
Joshua K:

Maybe it was the auto-fill thing my browser did that changed the pledge amount.
  3:43am
marty mcsorley:

HEY EVERYONE!!!
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PLEDGED AND ARE TAPPED OUT HIT UP YOUR INTERNETS AND LET YOUR PEOPLES KNOW THAT THEY NEED TO PLEDGE TOO!
  3:44am
mike noble in dc:

  3:46am
Adam from Chicago:

Kick-ass version of "Glad All Over" in Javanese (I"m guessing, since Dara Puspita worked in Jakarta).
  3:54am
mike noble in dc:

the key word there was INADVERTENTLY stalking. or at least it felt that way just because i used to see jesse at just about every show i went to in new york.
  3:55am
Adam from Chicago:

Lou Reed foresaw it, Al Gore invented it, people and commerce harvest it...yeah, internet! I hope that second pledge took, because I can't afford to double it accidentally, eh?
  3:57am
Adam from Chicago:

If it didn't, I shall re-donate it properly, sirs and ma'ams...
  3:57am
Joshua K:

if I had won that VU I would have had to buy a new turntable.
Cheers guys. Have a good rest of the show.

  4:05am
Adam from Chicago:

I was pleasantly surprised how much young Argentines adored, if not worshipped, the Stones...
  4:15am
Adam from Chicago:

I remember a weird experiment of this sort on a student radio station of my youth...
  4:17am
jk:

The FMU station is totally magic & deserves oh so much support! It's like this place that comes from some guy playing pots & pans in a cardboard box -- which if you enter & you wipe the milky way out of your eyes, you find there's a shute to the sun, shepherded by strange & endearing gnomes, who speak in tongues & philosophize about all the electrical currents which underpin the universe. I speaketh truth!! I visited!
  4:18am
Martin Prince:

I must have spent our last ten dollars on this talking Al Gore doll!
  4:19am
Al Gore Doll:

You are hearing me talk.
  4:37am
Adam from Chicago:

You are so, so welcome, my noble friend Jesse Alexander Vladimir von Jarnow, Lord of the Empire and Garden States.

And you, Marty McSorley, Marauder of the Mechanical Missiontrans!

AND YOU, WFMU COMMUNITY!
  4:42am
Adam from Chicago:

Warms my heart, Jesse! Great song. Kinda neo-new wave, us clunky as that sounds. Or reads. Whatever. Lovin' the Frow down!
  4:46am
jk:

Okay! Thanks for the prize, guys! I'll listen to it & come up with a new chinese-esq or non name how bout that. Enjoy the hallways of kitsch in the late night collective mind
  4:47am
marcus:

cool, William Tyler. He will play on april 16th in my small hometown in germany!
  4:50am
Emile Durkheim sez:

[T]here is nothing so pleasant as collective life...It is a pleasure to say "we." What must be done is to teach the child to savour this pleasure and make him feel the needd for it.
  4:51am
Durkheim Revisited:

"need" for it. Sorry, hard to type.
  4:54am
Adam from Chicago:

I had the dubious pleasure of attending the premiere of R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet, Chapters 13-22" at the Music Box in Chicago. He's as unstable in person as one might ever speculate, screaming at the staff and management of a venerable art house after making them start late and him overloading the sound that DVD projection could bear, etc. Good suit, though.
  5:17am
Emile Durkheim also sez:

Any school system is made up of two kinds of components. On the one hand, there are a whole series of fixed
stable arrangements and established methods, in a word, institutions; but, at the same time, within the machine
thus constituted, there are underlying ideas at work, urging it to change. Seen from the outside, secondary
education appears to us as a series of establishments whose physical and moral organization is fixed; but, seen
from another angle, that same organization harbours aspirations seeking fulfilment. Underlying this fixed,
consolidated existence there is a life on the move which, though less visible, is by no means insignificant
  5:27am
jk:

nice madness collage! i vote yes!
  5:50am
Neil:

Wooh, a mention on the air! And technically my body is in the Netherlands. It's just my bank account that's in New York...
  6:00am
Adam from Chicago:

You paid Yo La Tengo NOT to play a song? I will not play lots of songs, if anyone wants to pay me....after WFMU wraps up its marathon on March 13, natch...
  6:03am
brtko:

hi, pls, what is the currently playing song??
  6:04am
Keith:

I'm humbled by my good fortune!
  6:09am
Adam from Chicago:

Is the first song just the intro to Nachum Segal's "Jewish Matters in the Morning" (aka "JM in the AM") which plays weekday mornings on the Mount Hope station?
  6:11am
Adam from Chicago:

Not that there's anything wrong with it, but that it plays before crossing over to FXO's show? Gives the sonic montage an extra flavor?
  6:11am
Adam from Chicago:

Gotta go, WFMUniverse! Love ya!
