An open B string on the "folky" G chord is fine! *And* so is fretting on the 3rd fret! But my fave is the D chord; F# is great too.
  4:25pm
Jeff M:

My only available matching pledge is Soak Andy time.
  4:29pm
JCJ:

That DVD stands for "digital versatile disk" is very much in dispute. What is certain is that the official specification for the format has never specified that it stands for anything.

How do I make one of those Prize Account pledges? Night of the Hunter scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
  4:37pm
?:

Yeah how do you pledge online if you have a prize account? I know you can call in and do it but I didn't see how to online.
  4:38pm
Cecile:

it says toward the end, I'm not exactly sure where.
  4:41pm
Parq:

"?", in the past, I have always indicated it in the field for "Special mail info, comments, pleas, etc".
  4:43pm
?:

Thanks Parq
  4:43pm
wigwambam:

Went back to my email - call the pledge number, tell them you're making the pledge as part of your Prize Account. I guess you can pledge up to the actual amount you pledged (and you don't have to pledge the full amount in one call using the Prize Account)
  4:43pm
minnesota jeff:

The Prize Account pledges are wild and fun! Its so awesome. Last year I won like a bandit, winning like 12 prizes out of my $365 pledge. If you are strategic you can win like me!
  4:44pm
12539:

The mailing says for a Marathon Prize Account you need to "Sign up for a Prize Account by February 28th". Maybe a phone volunteer can tell you if there's a time limit?
  4:44pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

keep it simple
  4:45pm
Cecile:

I pledged last week.
  4:45pm
Danne D:

I concur with minnesota jeff. If you do it right you'll start feeling guilty about all your wins ;)
  4:46pm
wigwambam:

I'm Julie in Maryland (not Massachusetts, big difference). DJ Fail.
  4:46pm
minnesota jeff:

You can also just pledge whenever you want and they group all of the pledges. If you have your account number is makes the phone call quick.
  4:46pm
Danne D:

Ugh, I hope I didn't steer anyone wrong with my prior prize account comments (though I will note that isn't today the 28th? :)
  4:46pm
Danne D:

we have a lot of Julies to keep track of wwb :)
  4:47pm
Joe McG:

Hey, everybody. Today is the last day to get in on a Prize Account, which you can get in on if you make a pledge of $365 or higher. You pledge can be paid in full or monthly. There should be a place on the form to indicate it, but if you don't see it, just write in the Comments box that you would like a Prize Account.
  4:47pm
minnesota jeff:

Danne D, I did feel sort of guilty. But they have to give the prize to someone and I figured it must be cheaper to mail 12 prizes to 1 person rather than 12 prizes to 12 people.
  4:47pm
Joe McG:

The cut off is tonight at midnight, by the way. :)
  4:48pm
Danne D:

Joe McG on point to keep everyone straight :)

Well, that is true, Jeff, about the postage :)
  4:48pm
Volunteer Matt:

Wünderbar!
  4:50pm
?:

What exactly is a prize account, anyway?
  4:50pm
wigwambam:

Oh you guys are too sweet I just keeeding
  4:53pm
Danne D:

Make sure you fix the pledge card for Julie - it probably has the wrong State code on there. MD is Maryland, no MA.
  4:55pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

no no MA
  4:57pm
Joshua K:

Swag for life has made me lazy. Last year I stole all the prizes during my overnight shift but this year I haven't even decided on my premiums yet.
  4:58pm
minnesota jeff:

Chilton's solo records are very satisfyingly varied, weird, frustrating and fantastic.
  4:58pm
wigwambam:

It took me forever to decide which premiums to choose, no easy task for sure
  4:59pm
duff:

Shout over to Chris in Mad, Wisco. Let's all be cheeseheads now! (even the vegans)
  5:03pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

@Duff Huzzah! It's crazy up here!
  5:04pm
?:

dude, *I* am the brain police.
  5:05pm
wigwambam:

Oh yeah, go Wisconsin! You been protesting?
  5:05pm
Jeff M:

I'm not sure you're being completely fair to recent Bond movies.
Yes, there was an unfortunate mannequin-in-a-dinner-jacket era post-Connery, but I think the new guy Daniel Craig is the only Bond besides Connery who manages to portray the physicality and particularly the brutality beneath the groomed surface we should really see in Fleming's killer-for-HM's-government. And Casino Royale opted wherever possible for practical effects rather than a bunch of CGI.

Actually, the only thing which really bugs me about Casino Royale it the way they tackily substituted poker for Baccarat. Just cheesy. Lord, am I sick of poker people and even the damned TV late at night showing people slumping around a poker table as if there could possibly be something interesting in that.
  5:09pm
wigwambam:

Yeah! I love you guys xoxo, Great show, as always
  5:11pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

Most lunch breaks, evenings and weekends = protest time. Had a projected 100,000 people out last Saturday. They've locked down the Capitol Building as of this morning, refusing access to protesters and bolting openable bathroom windows. As previously stated: It is CRAZY HERE.
  5:13pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

Needless to say, the WFMU marathon is a welcome diversion ;)
  5:14pm
marq:

watch out for the beard police
  5:14pm
wigwambam:

Yeah, two of my friends have been protesting there. One is a state employee, the other is a PhD student with nothing better to do. They're getting worried about lay-offs, though...my friend said they're even having mandatory roll-calls every morning at work
  5:15pm
Danne D:

Just a handful of 'em.

  5:18pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

Lay-offs are getting threatened if the 14 Dems don't come back soon, and I'm a pretty low rung state employee myself, so yeah, I got that worrying feeling too...
  5:22pm
wigwambam:

My friend has worked for the Dept. of Natural Resources for maybe 2 years? Walker seems to hate that agency...I'm worried a lot of jobs there are on the chopping block
  5:24pm
wigwambam:

Jeff - Sweet photos! Democracy in action. Chris - Crossing my fingers for you
  5:28pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

Yeah man! Thanks for the good vibes! Same for your buddy! Wisco solidarity!
  5:30pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

These are photos from a wedding that took place amid the protests and I are basically the most awesome thing I've seen recently: http://beccadilley.com/blog/2011/02/28/wisconsin-in-protest-wedding-portraits/ <relinquishes comments section from the clutches of Madison politics>
  5:34pm
Danne D:

Scott shreds on guitar and always is one of the biggest highlights of the Hoof N Mouth. I'll never forget "Mr. Magic" :)
  5:36pm
Handsome Harry:

Johnny Paycheck!! Yeah!!
  5:39pm
Cozy D:

makes me wanna take an 18-wheeler westward
  5:40pm
wigwambam:

Chris - Those pics are awesome! Although I feel sorry for the bride in that sleeveless gown while it's snowing out
  5:41pm
Danne D:

I remember this too - Scott did a fabulous version of this at a different year's Hoof N Mouth :)
  5:41pm
Danne D:

Sang and played it - it was unbelievable
  5:42pm
marq:

how does it work again if you are a swag for life pledger? we don't need to call in our pledge but just select the premiums form the thing we got in the mail? i wonder how this will affect the call in pledges to each show. Maybe many people who would normally have called in to pledge during scott's show are not because they are for life listeners.
  5:49pm
glenn:

today's marathon joke - what goes clip clop clip clop bang?
  5:50pm
glenn:

an amish drive by shooting.
  5:52pm
wigwambam:

wait...is this glenn related to a julie living in maryland?
  5:52pm
glenn:

aren't the gibsons made in kalamazoo?
  5:52pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

@marq I emailed Joe McGasko about this and he told me to email him the list of swag you want and to let him know you wanna get set up w/ the Prize Account if u want it and your swag for life will roll over monthly like it has been.
  5:52pm
Danne D:

Hint with that Laurel Canyon book. The movie is not the same thing...
  5:53pm
glenn:

noper.
  5:53pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

@marq which is to say I didn't fill out anything online other than an email direct to Joe
  5:54pm
wigwambam:

my bro is named glenn, sounds like a joke he'd make. he said he'd tune in today, hopefully to make a pledge
  5:55pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

@wigwambam Yeah man it is straight up COLD out here now, but that first week of protesting was non stop GLORIOUS weather, so far as a Madison February goes anyways...
  5:56pm
glenn:

oddly enough, there aren't that many real good amish jokes.
  5:56pm
Danne D:

Jonathan even! :)
  5:57pm
marq:

thanks, Chris. and i suppose we can still call up with additional smaller support pledges throughout the marathon and get the bill later.
  5:58pm
Danne D:

The Jonathan pulled me in for a call Scott :)

workin' on the prize account :D
  5:59pm
Chris in Madison, WI:

@marq Indeed. I always find myself going over the mouse of today I prepledged. It's the Andy soak that always does it to me, that and the Yo La Tengo.
  5:59pm
Danne D:

yes marq. I usually end up going over my prize allotment as we go
  6:00pm
minnesota jeff:

marq - As long as you give the identical information each time you call they will mash all the payments togethor and bill you.
