performance footage from WILD COMBINATION almost certainly comes from open reel video in The Kitchen's archives...not that much preservation work done on it just yet, but obv. gems there to be extacted! if i'm not mistaken it was recently acquired by Getty?!

max:

hey Jace I read your article about DJ Screw and was wondering if you had any ideas for a point of entry to his discography. his version of UGK's One Day is amazing, don't know where to go next, any recommendations?
  7:31pm
paolo:

rupture at his best, as usual.....finding the right words is not easy: best radioshow in the world for sure!
  7:32pm
Rupture:

screw... man... it's hard to get an entrance point. his output was so vast! also: see Michael Watts for contemporary chopped + screwed goodness
  7:34pm
M Signal:

Recommendation: if you can find it, Radioclit's chopped & screwed version of Roll Deep's album "In At the Deep EnEnd" is great.
  7:39pm
max:

thanks Rupture and M Signal, I'll look for both of those

Any idea where I can see Jorge Meza? Or other cumbia in NYC besides dutty artz shows? Theres nothing on the internet except vague references to this mysterious place called the 7 train theater in Flushing... there are amazing videos of cumbia parties with ridiculous dancing at this place... but no schedule... I guess I just have to drink at my local chupaderos and ask around? Or does anyone here have an idea? I need more cumbia.
  3:15pm
M Dilla:

Squincy! H-Town represent, man. Nicely done.
