Does everyone out there have the same urge to hibernate like I do when the temp goes 20 or lower? Or are there some intrepid cold-loving adventure-seekers out there?

  10:27am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

just got on dig the show !!! scrolled through the comments the 128k stream .pls winAmp fine so far !!
  10:28am
dc pat:

you gotta dress the right way. If I don't have enough layers on it's miserable, but if I get it right, it's exhilarating joy. My toes were slightly cold this morning but otherwise I was fine....

or, you just have to be hardy!! HA, HA, HA!!
  10:28am
1mckrs:

Layers, sure, but protecting my eyes with ski goggles makes a huge difference. Cold eyeballs are bad.
  10:29am
annie:

tom, i'm cool now, it was my winamp, somehow screwy this am , i just reloaded fmu into the playlist
  10:31am
dc pat:

I just wear sunglasses. If it's windy it sucks, digits get frozen and the tears start running
  10:33am
Mike East:

Yeah - sunglasses and headphones. I looked at the temp on a digital thermometer this morning and thought - "Oh, 41 degrees, not bad" Upon closer examination, it was 4.1 degrees. Big difference.
  10:33am
Issac from Tijuana:

Helado Negro == Black Ice Cream
  10:33am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

even though I am very warm after a shower , you might be wanting to rush outside ... DDNT until you completely dry!!! especially Hair and toesies !!!!
  10:34am
mark:

i've always worn glasses, i bet it makes difference + forgot that a hoody over a balaclava is v.good and two or three pairs of gloves, one inside the other
  10:35am
dc pat:

I just bought big waterproof bike gloves, not the best for shifting gears but MUCH more comfortable.
  10:39am
still b/p:

Sometimes, if you don't need full freedom of movement and aren't going to be working up a sweat with activity, it's fun to put on the rarely-used maximum cold protection and just be out strollin' in it with smiley hubris:
"Yes, I am most mighty among cold-defying bundley beasts!"
  10:39am
bennett4senate:

yo liz, good vibes! Love this Evil Madness... also how come we're the only 2 peeps playing that Autre Ne Veut record? whatevs, let 'em sleep on it ;)
  10:40am
mark:

also if you construct a small fires in the pouches in between your collar bone and shoulders that provides a warm air current to you head
  10:41am
dc pat:

but really it's all about the wind. Only reason I was comfortable this morning is that there was zero wind chill. If had had to deal with the usual Arlington wind-tunnels created by too many giant buildings, I'd be complaining now.
  10:41am
Richard from Venezuela:

Good Morning Liz and all the listeners.
  10:43am
still b/p:

I think I need little mini-fairings for bike handlegrips. No gloves have ever kept coldest wind out.

For collarbone brazier, homemade fuel nuggets of dryer lint and wax are great.
  10:44am
yorba linda:

YES!
  10:44am
Nathan:

Really enjoying this Vvarqt track.
  10:46am
catpatz:

something like this fleece from 66 north, while pricey, is pretty perfect for biking in the freezing cold. luckily i live in copenhagen so i dont have to bike too far each day. also it is pretty mild these days.

http://www.66north.com/us/shop/pc-1714-510-vik-womens-hooded-sweater.aspx
  10:49am
dc pat:

For me it's more a danger of over-dressing than under-dressing. If I put too much on I get WAY uncomfortable. So it's all thin layers for me.

God and noodles, that's all I have to say about this subject...
  10:55am
EpeeduBois:

RAMIRO!!!!!!!!!!STACccccATTTOO!!! Thanks LIz.
  10:57am
hellbilly13:

Diggin' the Staccato Du Mal ....reminds me of old Tuxedo Moon. Great show, Liz!
  10:59am
Carmichael:

Mornin', Liz and troops.
  11:01am
holland oats:

just took out the dog - HOLY CRAP IT'S COLD!!!
  11:04am
Robin The Fog:

Great show, Liz! Sometimes I'd go mad if it wasn't for all you WFMU folks!
What's the track about being inside the computer? I missed the tracklisting!
  11:04am
Carmichael:

Holy Moly, I guess it pays to be in California right now. It's foggy and about 45, but it'll get to 65 or 70 this afternoon.
  11:06am
Liz B.:

Hi Bennett, Richard, and anyone else who recently chimed in. Love hearing about your methods of fighting the war on cold. Robin, the song about being in the computer was Rod Droid (I think!).
  11:07am
Richard from Venezuela:

We need a Cloudkicker song http://cloudkicker.bandcamp.com/
  11:10am
dc pat:

new favorite group = Attic Ted
  11:10am
mark:

Attic Ted song is starting to become addictive
  11:12am
CheriPi:

  11:14am
maja:

Great show, Liz B. And Annie what a sad story about your cow.
  11:19am
yorba linda:

EVRYTHING is good. it's just 11am... this is gonna be the best day ever!
  11:20am
bennett4senate:

wow, Cult of Youth, with this piano riff, deserves a big slammin soulful house remix
  11:20am
Robin The Fog:

Thanks, Liz! Am adding to 'want list' as we speak! In my experience, any song that has either robot voices, hand-claps or 'na na na's is always an instant classic! I wonder if a record exists that uses all three?
  11:23am
holland oats:

the 99?
  11:23am
dc pat:

any song that has the word 'butt' in it 3, 4 times is a keeper..
  11:24am
chris:

Doug likes bootie, I'm guessing.
  11:25am
dc pat:

he also likes off-kilter guitar/flute solos..
  11:26am
dc pat:

every time he says butt, I crack up. Wonder what my co-workers are thinking...
  11:28am
Tom:

I really struggle with winter, especially with temps around 30 ... it's too cold to wear a jacket yet too warm for heavy winter gear. It's a temp made for an inbetween coat that I don't own!
  11:29am
steve:

is that caroliner behind you liz??
  11:30am
Robin The Fog:

Perhaps the butt in question had a large number of dots on it?
  11:31am
dc pat:

Tom: I got that coat this year. It's working out well.
  11:32am
Cayenne:

turn up da mike!
  11:33am
yorba linda:

i just heard Vegetable Man for the 1st time last night, can you play it? or Scream thy last Scream would be even better.
i'll give ya a neck massage if ya do. through the phone!
  11:34am
Robin The Fog:

Personally, my butt is more like dominoes...
  11:36am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

had to check in to talk about butts
  11:38am
Robin The Fog:

What can you bring to the table, Dead Corporate Eyes?
  11:38am
Culotte:

Mind if I butt in?
  11:38am
maja:

how does it look like?
  11:39am
dc pat:

Hey, how come this song isn't about butts? Unless "birds" is code for butts...
  11:40am
Robin The Fog:

@maja: 3 on the left, 5 on the right. Comes from over-cycling...
  11:41am
yorba linda:

birds dont have butts. that happened around the time of the establishment of the roman catholic church. no one is satisfied with the arrangement.
  11:42am
Culotte:

Did you know a butt is the equivalent of two hogsheads?
  11:42am
maja:

wow
  11:43am
Robin The Fog:

@Culotte: I can't even imagine what you mean!
  11:43am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

my butt is invisible
  11:43am
Culotte:

To wit, 126 gallons.
  11:43am
Robin The Fog:

DOUBLE WOW!!!
  11:46am
Robin The Fog:

What with today's music and the forum, I'm learning so much!
  11:46am
Tom:

Rob Jo Star = SOOOOO GOOD
  11:48am
maja:

yes!!!XXXXXX love lo you all!!
  11:49am
CheriPi:

I love Rob Jo!
  11:52am
maja:

to not lo
  11:59am
dc pat:

Culotte, you're wrong you know. 1 butt = 3 hogsheads...
  12:01pm
Culotte:

butt 4 |bət| |bʌt|
noun
a cask, typically used for wine, ale, or water.
• a liquid measure equal to 2 hogsheads (equivalent to 126 U.S. gallons).
  12:02pm
Nathan:

Great set Liz! Game-changed my afternoon...
  12:02pm
Robin The Fog:
