Options November 17, 2010: PERSEPHONE'S BEES live set!

Listen to this show:  Pop‑up player! | Add or read comments

After 10 years in the Bay Area, Persephone's Bees recently relocated to NYC and they're bringing their edgy pop sounds to WFMU for your enjoyment. The vocals of Russian-born lead singer Angelina Moysov fall somewhere between the Cardigans and Komeda, according to the Onion A/V Club -- who also described their music as "instantly likable."

  10:13pm cerebellum:

depends on if hank tips strippers well or not...
  10:17pm dave:

i think persephone's bees just took home the trophy for best use of the phrase "golf courses" in a tension-building, fist-pumping shout-along lyric.

Paper plane! Nice!
  10:42pm robert1014:

First I've heard of Persephone's Bees...they were absolutely KILLER! Tom Ayres is a great, choppy rhythm guitar player. (With every guitar player wanting to be a hero, there are too few great rhythm players in rock music.) Fantastic and wonderful.
  10:44pm efd:

So glad you enjoyed it, Robert! Totally agree about Tom, really like his style and the different sounds he uses.
  10:45pm AZ:

Groovy show, Evan! Thank you for providing the soundtrack to our take-out middle eastern food!
  10:45pm Kendall!:

yes awww yeah Electric Six. I am jammin now
  10:50pm efd:

Hi AZ, you're very welcome!
Kendall, that new E6 album is so good! Not that I need to tell you that...
  10:52pm Madi Horstman:

  10:54pm Madi Horstman:

I hope PB's didn't read my last comment, they were good then too, BTW
  11:01pm Kendall!:

efd didn't even know there was a new Electric Six album but that track was excellent as usual so I will make sure to head out and get it now. I will walk down to the shop (not digitall surf to the apple store) and pick it up.
  11:23pm john:

I was just saying to Becky this sounds just like a record I'd have bought in 1986 and then the date popped up. But anyone who wants to sound like Hurrah! is aces in my book!
  11:27pm Joe B:

wow, doctor's mob! wish I could listen!

  11:38pm cheri:
