A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  9:07am yayson:

  9:08am trouble:

thank you yayson. I am humbled by hatch's tuesday vibe...
  9:09am johN:

there is a tube from the sun to the front of my brain skull (where I do my thinking at).
  9:13am still b/p:

Sun-linked thinking may get spotty soon.
  9:14am geleni:

that was pretty gorgeous. and chickens!
  9:18am sugarwolf:

I finally have a Tuesday off & can listen to the entire show!

Trouble, I am sad I missed you at both Rhinebeck & the record fair. I think we went on opposite days.
  9:22am trouble:

bonjour sugarwolf. so sorry i did not see you but have you seen modern top down knitting? i bought it at rhinebeck and love it! http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=modern+knitting+from+the+top+down&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=4399984390102423939&ei=FlnZTPW_KsGB8gb017zuCQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CBoQ8wIwAg#
  9:25am Erella:

Hello Trouble, glad to be here and hear you too.
  9:26am Listener Greg:

Hey Trouble!
Did you volunteer when they assembled The Gates in Central Park? I just watched the documentary and I could *swear* I saw you.
  9:27am johN:

@still b/p Ultra-Fabulous
  9:27am βrian:

Hey from Madison where the lakes are blue (today, anyway).
  9:28am trouble:

bonjour erella! no greg i did not but i did enjoy the gates when they were up in the park surrounded by crisp snowy fields
  9:31am sugarwolf:

trouble, i have skimmed that book at the LYS. It is very pretty, but all the sewing in it scares me
  9:31am Patrick:

good morning trouble!
  9:32am Shana:

Good morning from Ann Arbor, 40 miles from the great American city, Detroit, MI.
  9:33am Cecile:

I like both cities very much in different ways.
  9:35am βrian:

Yo, "digitalization?" You've been reading too much french.
  9:36am Andrew:

Salvation Armies and flea markets are good places to find typewriters.
  9:36am Patrick:

Typewriter.... I might have one for you, but the best place to find one is at the Nurses Sale. thats where i found most of mine, well that was years ago when typewrites where not cool and i was still in NJ
  9:37am typewriter tip:

Talk to James Siena, friend of WFMU
  9:37am Patrick:

ps, ill keep my eyes peeled here in Ohio, where garbage goes to die...
  9:37am Listener Greg:

I see tons at estate sales in NJ. www.estatesales.net for all your thrifted typewriter needs.
  9:37am Ken in Denver:

Hi Trouble, What was the name of that cool blog again?
  9:39am jan:

Listener request: Typewriter Tic Tic from Bombay Talkie and Typewrite lesson by Cornelius
  9:40am sheepaul:

  9:41am v k:

Clientele - kudos! here is great Clientele live video for watching after Trouble's fantastic show: http://bandstandbusking.com/artist/the-clientele
  9:42am Robert:

Darn, I just threw away an electric typewriter a year ago. Saved the case, though.
  9:43am trouble:

hey patrick. yes the VNA would have been perfect but i was not obsessed with finding des a typewriter yet when i shopped there. the obsession is newer and most crazy. But then there is the smallness and fab color issue, so i suppose i am just cuckoo.
  9:43am Patrick:

hey trouble have you heard this yet.... http://www.catbirdseat.org/archives/2127.php
  9:44am jan:

I just confrimed what I already knew- typewriters go unsold or for very little money on ebay. Typewriters have little value...there will be many more like like the one you passed on.
  9:45am trouble:

the cool blog is toysandtechniquesdotblogspotdotcom
  9:46am dc pat:

just saying hello. Hello.
  9:46am still b/p:

Loved my old typewriters. Scouted sales for them once upon a (80s) time. (Even mailed an extra-chunky Royal halfway across the country for a friend to repair.) But I'm too damn cross-fingered and revision-compulsive to give up the computer's cleaner ease....though there's something lost in that.
  9:48am Patrick:

From my experience palstic typewrites have not held up as well as older ones. if i where you i would try to find one made of cast steal, old Royals are not hard to find and most of them come in black or olive green. you could always find one paint it with enamel paint.

good luck hunting, like i said ill keep my eyes peeled here in Cols.
  9:51am βrian:

@still b/p Indeed. Our pinkies have atrophied.
  9:56am Adrian in London:

Morning all. I just discovered The Clientele last week, thanks to Irene Trudel playing Bonfires on the Heath. I feel like someone's dad raving about Robbie Williams or James Blunt or someone. Where have I been?!
  10:06am MAD:

A few requests: Camera Obscura or Timi Yuro or Amadou & Mariam

Of course, I appreciate your discretion.

Gracias, MAD
  10:08am Kayt:

Hi Trouble, saw a film on friday i think you would dig- Ne Change Rien by Pedro Costa at Anthology Film Archives all week. Its about the singer Jeanne Balibar and it is gorgeous. Portuguese director, in French.
  10:11am jamesie:

getting into Tuesday mode, with very best wishes from a cold Regents Canal in London
  10:13am Jennique:

Happy Tuesday Trouble!
  10:13am don:

so cool!
  10:15am postmanpaul:

Hi Trouble et al. jamesie, did you fall in from the tow-path?
  10:17am jamesie:

I sleep next to the tow path each night, my mind is underwater.
  10:21am seang:

I'm set free to find a new illusion
  10:25am postmanpaul:

Adrian in the Smoke - yeah, me too. Although 'London based' they must be more US than UK friendly.
  10:26am trouble:

hello jamesie! so good to hear you are well and sleeping underwater. that sounds fantastic! like that renoir film...what is it called with the lovers constantly picturing themselves underwater: l'atalante? perhaps.
  10:27am Adrian in London:

Paul, The Clientele are playing the Borderline with Damon and Naomi on 18 December. It'll involve me leaving the house and everything, but i might pop along. They're supposed to be good live.
  10:33am trouble:

kayt that sounds great! i will look for it! hope you are well...
  10:37am postmanpaul:

@Jamesie - I sleep beside the coast in Brighton each night. My mind is under water and squally coastal clouds.
@Adrian - I look forward to reading your review!
  10:37am lilsis:

Good Morning, Trouble!! Were you left wanting after Sunday night PBS?
  10:39am Adrian in London:

Paul, I could maybe manage to tweet about it; a full review's a bit much these days.
  10:42am Adrian in London:

There's always Trouble Come This Morning by Crime and the City Solution…
  10:43am trouble:

yes lil sis!! what the? i donated to pbs just so i could get series one on dvd. but is that the end of series one do you think? urrrgh. o party for dj icepack the weekend of the 20th sometime, will let you know more later.
  10:49am eric:

Hi. According to Wikiepdia on Sherlock, there is a second series of 3 to be released next year. I loved the show!
  10:50am mike g:

Billie Holiday is just the thing I need to soothe my Tuesday nerves.
  10:51am still b/p:

I like Billie Holiday's AND Jerry Vale's version of this song!
  10:51am Erella:

aw, there is nothing like this song right now. It breaks my heart to hear. Thank you trouble.
  10:52am MAD:

Thank you. I, too, am a big Jeremy Brett fan. That series was some of the best PBS ever. Well, there was The Jewel in the Crown series and I Claudius. But, je suis d'accord, the new Sherlock works.
Cheers, MAD
  10:55am ken:

this luiz bonfa sounds like those amazing monsieur hulot soundtracks. where can i get, like, 465 hours of that kind of music? gibson guitar, marimba? love it.
  10:55am Adrian in London:

Francophile film fans, may I recommend Casque d'Or, with Simone Signoret and Serge Reggiani. It's about a gangster's moll, set in the Belle Epoque. It's out on DVD and is a really good film. Lots of people get slapped. What more do you need?
  10:59am fishmonkeystew:

The Triplets of Belleville is an AWESOME film!!!
  10:59am MAD:

Never saw Trips of Belleville. Interesting music.
  11:00am trouble:

people being slapped, i am going to second that!
  11:03am postmanpaul:

Thanks for the French movie recommendation Adrian, I'll certainly look out for that. Re reviewing, I'm catching Goldfrapp - very 80's disco (her not me) on Sat and Neil Hannon at a matinee on Sun at Komedia.
  11:05am Adrian in London:

Who do you review for?
  11:06am Andrew:

Awesome! Post at his best.
  11:07am Jennique:

OH MY GOD! ROCKFORD FILES! I have this opening sequence forever burned into my brain. Mostly because James Garner reminded me of my father. Thanks for the jolt down memory lane.
  11:08am Andrew:

Crazy key-defying breakdown!
  11:10am MD:

MacMillan and Wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Play that one!!!!!!!
  11:11am MAD:

This is very nicely done song by MG
  11:13am postmanpaul:

for you!
  11:13am Andrew:

Mike Post was the MAN, back in the day.
  11:14am Chris R:

CHiPs theme rocks! next time
  11:14am Jennique:

CHiPs theme song is quite nice with some trippy keyboard/moog stuff. Mike Post is responsible for a nice chunk of my mental jukebox.
  11:14am Chris R:

CHiPs theme rocks! next time
  11:19am Steven Gugel:

Just tuned in and was surprised to hear your voice..I keep missing you and wondering where you are on Thursday mornings.
  11:19am MAD:

LSD party! Nice. Very Jimmy Smith. Me like.
  11:20am still b/p:

Today's Trouble take-away: I never knew that the Keely Smith song, "I Wish You Love," was "Que Reste t-il de Nos Amour" music with entirely new lyrics.
  11:21am MAD:

Wow! Lhasa. What a voice. Muito sexy. Hey, got any Pomegranates?
  11:23am Carmichael:

Hi Trouble and others. Just pulled up this minute.
  11:27am Cheri Pi:

I'm here too-just not on the board. Lurking though.
  11:28am Stu:

Morning Trouble! NY looked so beautiful as the marathon was broadcast live on TV. I miss it so much this time of year. Blizzard here in Finland this afternoon ! ( & I haven't switched to snow tires yet ! oops ) Lovely music to keep our spirits ' in tune ' as usual ! Cheers Stu
  11:28am listener mark:

good morning
cool beans, kraftwerk, I've arrived right on time
  11:29am Jesse:

Tunned in since Lhasa. SO NICE!
  11:29am MAD:

Very nice Kraftwerk. Anybody for Tangerine Dream?
  11:31am Carmichael:

This whole album, from start to finish, is amazing. I played it so much when it came out that I still know every note these many years later.
  11:36am MAD:

Trouble. I know you played Brian Eno earlier. What's your feeling for his album Begegnungen?
  11:36am NO:

Happy 75-th anniversaire to Alain Delon. I bet he is terrified of aging.
  11:37am Adrian in London:

Just looked up the Samourai/Aventuriers CD; it's got Alain Delon singing on it!
  11:42am MAD:

Trouble, muito obrigado. Eu gosto todas as cancoes.

Muito HIP.

Ate logo. See you next week.

  11:43am Mickey Mephistopheles:

  11:44am MD:
