Listener comments!

4:32am ALF of Hip Hop Slam:

Billy, if you're going to interview the Rev. Billy today, can you please ask him where does he feel the current economy is going?
  12:07pm Giovanni Trapattoni:

Billy Jam - we love your show and always listen to it before a game to get us in the right frame of mind. Unfortunately the match against Russia today kicks off before your show starts - so I am trying to get them to play it over the Aviva stadium PA but doubt they will go for it......We will catch the last hour anyway. Wish us luck! - Oh and Shay Given says to say "hello" to your dad!
  3:02pm Enter:

Hello World!
  3:05pm steve:

best dj crossover in radio!
  3:06pm Lucifer in Linda:

"No, the jam is mine!!!!"
  3:07pm Ike:

Agreed, Steve. Billy, you should make Bryce do a premium for the next marathon consisting of an hour of you and him doing a cappella, beatboxing, and other noises.
  3:10pm Looms:

@Steve: agreed!
@Billy: great opening!
  3:10pm Ausconor:

Just coming in with an update on the live qualifing Euro 2012 game from the Aviva Stadium in Dublin Ireland where the host nation are losing 1-0 to Russia
  3:10pm steve:

i am in full agreement with ike here
  3:11pm Ike:

But Bryce will only do it if you make him do it, Billy. So get out the ropes and chloroform!
  3:13pm still b/p:

Gotta catch him first in a bryce-trap baited with what?
  3:14pm Ike:

Penang curry maybe?
  3:14pm Ausconor:

27 minutes in and Ireland now 2-0 down
  3:16pm still b/p:

..yes, atop a large extra-sticky gamelan.
  3:21pm Ike:

Yes! Great idea B/P. Or maybe a rare vinyl record of Indonesian hammer dulcimer music played by macaques? Or flutes made out of eggplants? But you might accidentally catch Donna, Fabio, or Bethany in that trap instead.
  3:31pm still b/p:

Good! More pelts for sale for FMU listener cult rjtuals!
  3:42pm Tall Paul:

Yo Bill greetings from Dub hope your well. Bad news I am afraid not looking good for Ireland 2- 0 down at halftime.
  3:44pm Bad Ronald:

I see the light!!!
  3:45pm Ike:

HalleLUJAH!
  3:47pm still b/p:

Whip the money changers out the temple and out the town!
  3:55pm Ausconor:

Russia now 3-0
  4:15pm Ausconor:

Ireland get a penalty
  4:16pm Ausconor:

3-1 Keane converts
  4:23pm Ausconor:

Ireland score a second
  4:23pm Cecile:

Billy, could you play some Heatwave? I saw a doc on them on TVOne, and they were the nicest band with the worst breaks (except for Rod Temperton who made a bajillion dollars writing hits for Michael Jackson.)
  4:24pm Tall Paul:

Ah man I seen John Legend and roots concert live on You Tube it was amazing
  4:25pm Ausconor:

Isn't this the sports channel????
  4:27pm Mike East:

@tall paul - Was that at Terminal 5? I work about 100' from there. They had a shitload of film trucks and bio diesel generators parked out back for about a week...a co worker saw spike lee hangin out there, too.
  4:27pm Tall Paul:

Ireland have scored their second goal
  4:28pm Tall Paul:

Hey Mike yeah that is right as Spike Lee directed the gig.
  4:29pm Billy Jam:

hello Dublin - go Ireland -you can still do it...Yes this is the Sports Channel.......and my fave team is Bryce United -
  4:30pm Ausconor:

Final 5 minutes. Very exciting here at the Aviva
  4:34pm Ausconor:

4 minutes extra time
  4:40pm Ausconor:

  4:56pm DJ LAZ-E (dublin):

  4:56pm Tall Paul:

Cool when can I get to hear it?
  4:57pm DJ LAZ-E (dublin):

all the mixes are here at www.80sclubkillers.blogspot.com
  4:58pm DJ LAZ-E (dublin):

the mix in question is called "kings of the beats"
  5:07pm Tall Paul:

Yeah I know the mix I have listened to it. Be nice though if Billy could play some of it though to give the listeners a taste of your skills
  5:11pm king dumb:

don't forget the Billy Barry Kids !
  5:26pm Cecile:

Punk and indie were pretty powerful movements.
But being there for hiphop was great.
  5:31pm Cecile:

Exactly, Billy! And punk and late boomers were involved in the anti apartheid movement in the 80s
  5:44pm steve:

haha... i remember a good friend of mine asked billy why he didn't do more to acknowledge punk at a talk at vassar college many years ago! so funny to hear him mention it now.
  5:45pm Todd 76%:

Many punkers were also early hip hop fans also, especially US hardcore punkers. A Run-DMC mixtape sounded great right after a Discharge cassette when you're, say, driving 6 hours to Syracuse NY in an unheated van to play for six people in a blizzard...I can personally vouch for this ; )
Another great show, Mr. Jam!
  5:47pm Scott McDowell:

Bomb the suburbs had a huge effect on me when I read it in college. I think I bought 5 copies b/c I kept passing my copy to other people. Tuned in late- have to listen to the archive!
