  9:33am Goldrush:

Nice way to start a Friday. Thanks for the wake-up call, Doug.
  9:35am Vivian:

<sigh> I'll have to listen to the archive. Every time I enter a password, tracking number, open a program- the stream quits on me.
  9:36am dc pat:

hey Drummer Some, long time no comment. How's PGH? Suggestion: can you put links to less bandwidthy streams on your playlist? Some of us will get busted if we open things up to 128kbps. Hanx.
  9:36am listener james from westwood:

I am indeed on hurricane watch. No idea how much rain we'll get, but PSE&G drops power when someone burps too loudly, so I anticipate a flicker or two. Raided the local Trader Joe's for jugs of water, protein bars, and bananas, and charged the iPod (loaded w/ GTDS eps of course). Ready for action!
  9:43am Drummer Some:

Listener James From Westwood: I don't know why, but I always assumed you were in Los Angeles!

Hey Vivian, please send a help request to WFMU's stream team: http://tinyurl.com/2at9kvy
  9:46am Frank MealsWheels:

Funkay!
  9:47am Tom:

Top of the mornin to you Doug!
  9:47am Paul Sherratt:

>>How 'bout that wanker Blair

Doug ... You're being FAR too generous !

( To quote a DJ pal " Is 'ee mad ? )
  9:50am Drummer Some:

When I was in college I played in a band that was the headlining act at a big dorm party for which the opening act was a band called the Jogging Wankers. (That band went on to become the Del Fuegos).
  9:52am Drummer Some:

Welcome aboard Tom and Frank MW!
  9:53am rey:

good morning one and all. missed that first set of Latin but will get my fix later with some choice selections I downloaded last night from the audio motherload.
  9:54am Chicago Joel:

Greetings Sir Doug! Love this Shelby Lynne, you pull it out from time to time it seems. Hope all is well with you in your new digs.
  9:56am Drummer Some:

Hey hey Rey! And Chicago Joel as well. Right you are about that Shelby Lynne, Joel. If that record was a woman, I'd have a crush on her, uh, it.
  9:57am listener james from westwood:

@Doug—From the "Westwood" part, right? That makes sense—I always have to specify when I do a Google directions search. Nope, I'm 2 towns north of Paramus and within train-ridin' distance to 43 Monty and the RecFair.
  9:58am Chicago Joel:

I agree Doug, her voice is very lust-inducing.
  9:59am treeve:

just picking myself up off the floor after that Shelby Lynee tune, Timi Yuro had me on the ropes, but Shelby was just too much for this young(ish) music appreciator... thanks good drummer.
  10:01am treeve:

Lynne* that was a typo rather than an sp, I have heard of her honest!
  10:01am Vivian:

Doug:

I sent a request but the hiccups may involve the way our IT system is set up.
  10:01am Parq:

Gotta go to where the stream won't follow. Catch the rest on the 'chives.
  10:01am Drummer Some:

Listener James: I guess my mind was drawn to legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden—"the Wizard of Westwood"
  10:03am Drummer Some:

No worries, Treeve. I was a professional copyeditor, so typos are ALWAYS welcome here (by me, especially).
  10:04am listener james from westwood:

Copyeditors represent! (raises new 16th-edition Chicago Manual)
  10:11am El Thatchmo:

The was Nancy Sinatra And Jade Warrior in this!
  10:15am jill:

yes, doug. Angela Kalule was in the film - which i highly recommend.
  10:18am Hugo:

Angela Kalule is listed in the cast of "Last King in Scotland" as chanteuse in nightclub, according to the IMDB site. So there's your answer. Haven't seen the movie, though.
  10:19am Drummer Some:

Thanks for having my back, Jill and Hugo.
  10:19am Kenzo:

First full-on Accuplaylist since the move working out OK? Song titles in everyone's audio players, song on WFMU homepage, etc.?
  10:21am Tom:

A-ok Kenzo
  10:21am Drummer Some:

Oh Kenzo, it is working beautifully! I even made a note here to myself to remember to thank you. THANK YOU.
  10:24am trs:

Yep for here. Playlist refreshing to latest song, today, too.

Thanks for the good works.
  10:24am toby:

lord b lives!
  10:27am annie:

kenzo, it was the second thing i noticed~ much appreciated!
  10:30am jill:

this song is making me giggle
  10:32am jill:

and the playlist is on winamp perfectly...
  10:34am jk:

this Soreng Santi 7" was an awesome revelation
  10:35am Drummer Some:

Jill, the other side of that 7 inch is a Black Sabbath cover! Alert: His name appears to be spelled Soreng, Sroeng and Suang, depending on whom you ask.
  10:35am Lisa from Brooklyn:

Hello Doug and Hail ye from Brooklyn! Hope J's job is going well and L's new school is awesome. Miss your Brooklyn presence - but thank the gods for a working computer!!
  10:42am Bill:

I think we need to hear that Iron Man cover some time.
  10:42am Hugo:

Thanks for this Thai set. I still have a small pile of cassettes up in the attic. Late 80s stuff and decidely less funky than this.
  10:43am melissa:

love the show!!!! But it keeps kicking out, like every ten minutes or so. The URL is up, but there's no sound. Suggestions?? I'm listening through iTunes
  10:46am annie:

jill: winamp is da bomb, innit??
  10:46am Hugo:

By the way, you could always count on Thai bands doing a decent version of "Black Magic Woman", Santana-style. Generally, as far as cover versions go, Filipino bands are the best in that part of the world.
  10:48am Al:

Hi Doug,
Loved the Thai set. Funny as you played it, I was working on a website for a Thai Cowboy Artist friend. East meets West. You might enjoy... http://www.suntiworldart.com/
  10:49am Kenzo:

i ♥ winamp
  10:49am Drummer Some:

Melissa, send a request for help tp WFMU's Stream Team:

http://tinyurl.com/2at9kvy

Other's have reported the same problem. (It may be that we have maxed out the number of simultaneous listeners. I'm not sure what that number is.)
  10:51am Drummer Some:

I'm not sure, but I thing the maximum # of simultaneous stream listeners is 250 and we are at 79 right now. Don't quote me on ANY of this. (I'll deny it.)
  11:02am Drummer Some:

I ♥ Kenzo
  11:04am Carmichael:

Good payday Friday, Drum Some and radio pals.
  11:08am Drummer Some:

Hiya Carm.
  11:16am Hugo:

Yes, the passing away of Noah Howard is also confirmed on his Facebook page which is linked from Wikipedia. Very sad thing. I guess that calls for a tune (or several).
  11:16am El Thatchmo:

My photo of a Bangkok Sabbath cover band circa 1989:
http://thatcherkeats.blogspot.com/2009/06/three-blind-thais.html
  11:19am jill:

Annie - Winamp ususally stops playing after about 5 minutes then i have to re-load. Oy, such problems. Great photo Thatch - wow.
  11:20am Tom:

Oh Kenzo
  11:22am annie:

hhmmm. jill.... very weird... i can run winamp all day with no issues at all... i use a 128k stream..
  11:22am Carmichael:

Jill,

I've been using Quicktime, which came with iTunes. It's been working flawlessly.
  11:29am Drummer Some:

Rancho Thatchmo: official "we put images to your auditory nightmares" photographer of Give the Drummer Some.
  11:40am trs:

For a decent free and open source route, there's VLC. http://www.videolan.org
  11:46am Hugo:

VLC is a very versatile player which can handle most audio and not the least most video formats. I use it mostly for the latter.
  11:46am Ike:

I like Winamp, VLC, and Foobar2000. Foobar is tiny, hardly eats any memory, and sometimes even operates on a locked-down work 'puter where you're not allowed to install programs. Not ideal for playing MP3s, better just for playing streams. Winamp is bigger, more full-service.

These sounds sound good Doug!
  11:48am Drummer Some:

Well I like Ike (and not just 'cause you said that nice thing. But partly.)
  11:49am Paul Sherratt:

It's a toss up. Do I love love Kilola Salaika more or less than Kenzo ?

Could I live without either ????
  11:50am trs:

Not easy to set up depending on your network, but nice to turn a phone into a remote control w/ 'vlc remote'
  11:56am annie:

wonderful..... this morning went waay too fast... thanks doug, once again!!
  11:59am listener james from westwood:

the eternal struggle: switch to bryce or stick w. the gtds stream? oh, how could I say no to bryce. thanks, doug, & have a great labor day all!
  12:00pm Paul Sherratt:

Well done Doug. Marvellous stuff.
PS It's now exactly 1minute and 15 seconds after the hour !
  12:02pm Paul Sherratt:

And the cut off came at 1 minute 45 seconds after the hour according to this radio clock on the wall
  12:04pm Drummer Some:

Thanks for the calibration info, Paul. I know that there is a serious delay between when I say or play something and when people hear it. I let the backing music run an extra minute or so before switching the live feed off. Good to know!

That's OK, Listener James. I love Bryce!
  12:05pm Ike:

Yeah, but at least it was a more-or-less reasonable-sounding segue. Doug didn't get cut off mid-word! Or even mid-sentence, I don't think.
