  12:14pm Joel Gausten:

Hi Diane!!
  12:16pm Todd in Whitehorse:

Wow, is this an interview with someone from Bad Brains!!?
  12:20pm Cecile:

What's up with Angry Red Planet? They were one of the great unsung bands of Detroit.
  12:21pm Jim Devoid:

Can you ask Brannon why he restarted NA? Was it due to the sheer volume of people yelling for NA songs during EASY ACTION?
  12:21pm Cecile:

Did Tony ever read the Motorbooty article about punk rock renactment?
  12:21pm Thomas:

Can the book be purchased internationally, i.e Canada?
  12:23pm Cecile:

What about the Cult Heroes?
  12:27pm Deed Runlea:

what current bands are you into?
  12:28pm Cecile:

I liked Sorry from Boston. They were kind of like a baby Mission of Burma.
  12:28pm dc pat:

ach! Missed B.Brains....
  12:28pm Joel Gausten:

Play the Necros!! :)
  12:29pm Andrew Barker:

Anyone remember Graven Image? I had a cassette of them when I was 13 in 1985...I remember them being great. Someone once told me they were from Richmond.
  12:29pm Dave B:

  12:30pm Cecile:

I remember them. Can't remember any of their music...
  12:30pm Cecile:

Weren't the Prevaricators from Virginia?
  12:30pm G-rock:

Why didn't the book talk about the "U Pick One" 7" that featured (among other bands) Angry Red Planet and my old, admittedly not great, band GCMS?
  12:32pm dc pat:

ok, I'm 15 again.
  12:32pm medea:

the vandals: i want to be a cowboy
  12:34pm Jim Devoid:

  12:34pm Cecile:

zero boys!
  12:36pm ROOFLESS:

paul's not home sounds like barking dogs, most excellent
  12:37pm Todd 76%:

@Andrew - Are you the Gold Sparkle Trio drummer? Graven Image was from Richmond: http://truepunkmetal.blogspot.com/2009/05/graven-image-kicked-out-of-scene-7-1983.html
@Cecile - ...as were the Prevaricators
  12:37pm Cecile:

That was a great band, thanks Todd.
  12:38pm Jim Devoid:

@Todd 76% - I see you're checking out my bud Nate's blog!
  12:39pm Ike:

I agree w/Roofless, "Paul's Not Home" was a supremely excellent track.
  12:39pm Cecile:

I saw the Misfits at one of their last shows, at the Michigan Union ballroom. We sneaked in! Well, actually, nobody was at the door when we got there.
  12:40pm Terry is cooking:

OMG just saw the fliers posted, so cool.
  12:40pm Joel Gausten:

Hey, you played my old band. :) :)
  12:40pm Cecile:

I liked that f'ed up and photocopied book, but the Greystone flyers weren't on that colored paper that gave them their ooomph.
  12:41pm Cecile:

Black Market Baby!!!!
  12:41pm Getupandfight:

such a great playlist so far
  12:42pm Sean:

hearing Black Market Baby on the radio has totally made my day
  12:42pm dc pat:

  12:44pm dc pat:

I use to work with Boyd's wife--they have about 80 kids.
  12:44pm Getupandfight:

  12:45pm Jay in Chicago:

You are KILLING IT, Diane!
  12:45pm Cecile:

  12:47pm holland oats:

  12:47pm dc pat:

DCers: Govt. Issue is getting back together for a benefit gig soon...
  12:48pm Cecile:

Oh, nice. I never got to see them live
  12:48pm Cecile:

Oh! Play Scream
  12:48pm Dax de la Monta:

A couple questions, maybe best for Tesco:
1. Usually people think of Detroit or Ann Arbor when they think Michigan music; Lansing (my hometown) seems to have a hard time sustaining a music scene -- I'd like to hear what it was like operating in that town at the time. (The audio clips from the Crucifucks' LP paint a funny picture of dodging the police and popping up on the local news.)
2. I'd like to know some more about Blight -- how it came about and what the reaction was. Thanks!
  12:48pm paul b.:

Black Market Baby yeah! Oh and playing Void if you have any I know Brian Turner has some -- seconded
  12:48pm Jay in Chicago:

I've been looking forward to this show since reading about it in this month's Blast Of Air newsletter, and not even 50 minutes in it's exceeding my expectations.
  12:49pm MD:

diane.thanks for making my tuesday....GREAT!!!!!!!!!
  12:50pm jimmy tumors:

how about some stains (east l.a., not MDC)?
  12:51pm dc pat:

GI: hold on...
  12:53pm dc pat:

Here's the story on G.I., Dec 11: http://bit.ly/byNhUu
  12:53pm Todd 76%:

@Dax: You need to get Tony's book "Why Be Something That You're Not" - it goes into detail on the development of the MI/northwesternOH scene, including Lansing.
  12:55pm medea:

  12:56pm dc pat:

G.I. at the Black Cat...
  12:57pm Chicago Chris:

PAGANS from Cleveland. What's This Shit Called Love? for Mister Vee..........
  12:57pm Cecile:

Yeah, die kreuzen, cows and beer
  12:57pm Dax de la Monta:

@ Todd: Just got it! On page 40. Just sorta fishing for more anecdotes...
  12:57pm Cecile:

  1:00pm Cecile:

The upstrairs of a German restaurant in Ann Arbor.
  1:02pm tim:

Could you please tell a classic Dick Bowser story?
  1:03pm Andrew Barker:

@Todd 76% - thanks for the Graven Image link. I'll take a listen after the show. Yes it's me from GST and Melts and now playin' guitar and with Hallux.
  1:09pm mike:

how were the McDonalds (the band)?
  1:09pm Joel Gausten:

What is Tesco favorite part of the new T&G book? Is there anything that Tesco write in the original T&G zine that he now regrets - either positive or negative?
  1:10pm Joel Gausten:

Wow...I suck at speed typing!
  1:16pm Cecile:

City Club was a great place.
  1:17pm Todd 76%:

@Andrew B - It's cool how many free jazz/ improv players have an affinity for or even experience in the hardcore punk scene. The experimental band I 've played in for years, the hat city intuitive, played with GST years ago in Dumbo. I've seen you play drums several times since. Great stuff, man!
  1:18pm Another DS:

Would you please say, "Shostakovich!" in your best N. Roof voice?
  1:31pm Todd 76%:

Ask Paul about Steeples and Wingate deliberately melting copies of "Let's Barbeque" on the dashboard while hangin' in Jack's van. It seemed like very few bands/scenesters took it that seriously back then.
Ask Tesco why he hates the French...and thank him for all the great music, writing, and laughs over the years.
  1:38pm Tom Sawyer:

How about playing "Crippled Children Suck" or anything off the 1st record.
  1:44pm D:

Tony-what is the name of your book?
  1:48pm Joel Gausten:

Best show ever.
  1:53pm mike:

John, when is the Laughing Hyenas book gonna come out?
  2:04pm Cecile:

get some donuts at Oran's in Beaver Falls, PA
  2:05pm G-rock:

Great to hear John back on top of his game. Funny guy!
  2:06pm Harold:

Brannon Rules!
  2:06pm minnesota jeff:

That conversation was great!
  2:09pm Jay in Chicago:

Great conversation.
Now that you're back into music, how 'bout some N.O.T.A.?
  2:10pm Welly / Artcore Fanzine:

Enjoying the show from here in Wales, U.K.

Artcore Fanzine - Documenting Hardcore since '86 and still goin'.
25 year issue in the works.

  2:11pm Cecile:

YES. Die Kreuzen

  2:13pm Kelly:

  2:18pm phil:

ex detroiter here, digging the stories out in Seattle.
  2:20pm Shawn Watson:

Thanks. Also: CIA!
  2:22pm Rory Lake:

You're doin' a fine job. Crucifucks, Toxic Reasons, Zero Boys – plenty of midwest greats out there!

Yo, Jay from Chicago! Thanks for turning me on to this show!

I like to dress up!

  2:30pm Cecile:

that's how the Replacements did it...
  2:31pm dc pat:

JFA!! ..but they were from AZ right?
  2:34pm Cecile:

Yeah, I got into the Pink Fairies and Dust and Hawkwind and whatnot through punk.
  2:43pm Tom Sawyer:

verbal abuse?
  2:44pm dc pat:

GI Joes: We'd tie them up, tie rocks to their feet, light them on fire, and throw them into the creek. Jeezus...
  2:45pm brendan:

what a great show today! i can remember getting the BUY OUR Records phone# out of an East Coast Rocker when I was 14. We called up asking why "Paul's Not Home". Of course, the guy from A.O.D didn't find it funny...and it wasn't.
Also, may I say, I miss City Gardens.
  2:49pm Ronald Reagan:

There you go again! Making fun of me and Nancy. Tell that Paul Richard to "tear down those pants"!
  2:50pm rosh:

fuckin amazing show! please keep telling/writing these stories cause, though i'm 25 yrs younger,it's still our collective history & it deserves to be heard & documented. can't wait 2 read the book..and 4 saturday
  2:53pm Dominick:

Action Jackson ad - Zorro would approve
  2:54pm Tom Lyle:

Great show. Didn't chime in before because I would have had to remind you to mention that DC bands were much better and had much more interesting tales to tell. Just sayin'. Hi everyone!!!
  2:54pm Cecile:

dcp: My husband's Joes would be flying out of a second story window in their helicopter. Also, beating up his sister's Ken doll.

TOM LYLE, I salute you and GI
  2:55pm Cecile:

ZERO BOYS!!!!!!!!!!
  2:56pm Ian Mckaye:

Ah Tom, pipe down! Cut it out and be a little more self deprecating!
  2:57pm Tom Lyle:

Sorry Ian, forgot to use the sarcasm font!!!
  2:58pm Ian McKaye:

It's OK Tom, we all fall down.
  2:59pm hxc:

  2:59pm Cecile:

  3:28pm Clinton Chapman:

  3:41pm Clinton Chapman:
