You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Listener comments!

  Sun. 4/25/10 6:05am Tom L:

Good morning. Love Silverwater. Great way to begin.
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:05am Looms:

Morning Dan! Hello fellow listeners!
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:23am Dan B:

Hi Tom & Looms, good morning. Tom, I saw a reference to a place called Hallock Hill Friday in a book about the history of settlement in the North Country...
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:30am Tom L:

Dan, yes, it is the name of a road and hill in Harkness, really close to Peru. It is where I was born and lived for the first three years of my life. I use that name to distinguish my "work person" from my "music person."
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:39am Dan B:

Good idea...I can't really do that separation thing -- it's too late, I've been using my name with the music forever. I found the Hallock Hill reference in a pictorial history of Clinton Co. Also found two photos of my great-grandfather (who I'd never seen before) in a local history of Altona...on the shelves of the NY Public Library on 42nd St!
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:42am Tom L:

That is great, Dan. I love that kind of mysterious discovery. How incredible to see a photo of your great-grandfather.
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:43am Looms:

Great first set, Dan!
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:45am Tom L:

Love Not Not Fun's copy for the Sun Araw: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one’s around, shit still gets crushed. If Cameron Stallones holes up solo-style in a suburban cave and wah-riffs over canned bongos for five straight months, double LPs still get dropped. These are basic life laws..." http://www.notnotfun.com/now.html
Sun. 4/25/10 6:50am Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Hey DB! You flatter yourself with this archive talk.
Sun. 4/25/10 6:54am Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Just joshin', btw. There is nowhere I would rather be on a Sunday mornng
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:55am Dan B:

Anybody who calls themselves Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn is a friend of mine
  Sun. 4/25/10 6:59am Dan B:

I rest in the assurance that *everyone's* worst moments will now be subject to eternal surveillance, and mine will (hopefully) be lost in the information storm.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:01am Looms:

Your worst moments? You mean, like The Cortelyou Cucumber video?
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:05am Dan B:

You shush now, Looms!
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:11am Tom L:

Luck in the Valley is so good, isn't it? I could listen to this that your playing and "Tree in the Valley" all day long. The new tribute comp Honest Strings put together by Cory Rayborn is fantastic too. Download only.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:13am Tom L:

Looms, Check your e-mail. You've made the connection!
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:16am Looms:

Tom, thought so!
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:25am Tom L:

Looms, I'm glad.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:27am Looms:

I'm happy if you're happy!
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:28am Tom L:

Of course! it is no secret. Spread the good word.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:30am Looms:

@Tom: i will
@Dan: your program rocks!
Sun. 4/25/10 7:37am Mark from Poland:

it's pronounced /karpaty magichne/ with "y" and "e" in the end.
great show!
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:41am Tom L:

I think I have a new obsession and it is called The Magic Carpathians . Thanks for that Dan.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:42am andy/s:

Morning everyone! Great radio, if only I wasn't working eh. I liked Gil Scott-Heron laughing at the funny lines in the Smog song. Magic Carpathinians are amazing too.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:45am Tom L:

Dan, I'm checking this out and don't see the name of the track you listed: http://worldflagrecords.blogspot.com/2010/03/acousmatic-psychogeography.html

Is this the album?
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:47am Dan B:

@ Mark, I was just guessing! Thanks. @ Tom L, yeah, that's the album. The titles are kind of hidden, so I didn't find it right away. I've updated the playlist, thanks.
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:53am andy/s:

Hey Tom, I stumbled across your blog (I think!) the other day via twitter reading about Thurston Moore teaching the kids about noise, good reading!
  Sun. 4/25/10 7:56am Looms:

Dan, what was the short track you played just before The Living Sisters? (lovely one with guitar and violin) Was it William Nowick?
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:01am Tom L:

andy/s -- thanks a lot! I appreciate it. It is great to be making all these connections today (I don't generally self=promote too much, largely because I think it is pretty minor-league) and especially given the mood of Dan's amazing show.
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:05am Dan B:

@Looms, yeah, that was Nowick. I can't tell what track or tracks -- the CD is broken up into 3 tracks, although 14 are listed in the CD insert. Who knows what those were? Sounded great though. @Tom, yeah, your blog is awesome!
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:11am Tom L:

Dan and all, you guys are killing me today! Thanks a lot!
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:12am Looms:

Great jobs always get some kind of rewards, Tom!
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:22am Tom L:

Thanks again. Great to hear people are reading it, especially you all!
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:45am Looms:

sraeF roF sraeT!
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:45am Looms:

Less boring that way...
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:47am Dan B:

Sounds like they're saying "Ouch! Ouch!"
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:49am Looms:

No, that's what I say about that track each time i hear it on the radio.
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:52am Looms:

The show is excellent, really! May the rain come every sunday morning when you're on the air!
  Sun. 4/25/10 8:55am Tom L:

I second, third, and fourth Looms's sentiment. What a great show today Dan.
