  10:27pm
Aharon:

This is the second or third time this week I've stopped, turned up the radio and wondered, "What is that?" and it's turned out to be Wipers. Go, Greg, go!
  10:30pm
lupica:

I know the feeling, my friend. But I must confess, this Melvins cover of the Wipers classic is pretty damn godhead in its own right.
  10:34pm
Aharon:

Seconded.
  10:36pm
lupica:

No foolin', I hadn't listened to the whole thing until now, and it totally smoked me! My eardrums are shot, and possibly the studio monitors with them.
  10:36pm
JT:

saw the melvins do youth of america at the knitting factory several years ago.

they are definitely a band who knows how to do a proper cover. in their own style, but a real homage to the original.
  10:37pm
lupica:

JT, was that the show the Knit show with Cosmic Psychos?
  10:43pm
JT:

i think it was. i know i saw some old psychos fans from boston there...

that show definitely started with that song off gluey porch treatments with the 4-note bass line (half tones together i think). eye flies, mountain, load, whichever one that is. i could probably play it easier than remember the name.
  10:44pm
lupica:

If it was the Psychos show, I was there too, yet strangely, I don't recall the Wipers cover! Then again, that was firmly in the midst of my Maker's Mark era, which could explain the memory lapse.
  10:47pm
JT:

i'm pretty sure about it. 1998-2002, upstairs. i was also in a maker's mark era but not as bad as when the sun city girls played not too long after. that time i was the drunk umbilically attached to tbe bar singing along with all the songs. and the cerebrus shoal folks were down from portland.

harvey:

i see a nebula track in the foggy distance
  10:53pm
JT:

youth of america was also definitely the second to last song, probably after an encore break.i don't remember what the last one was.

damn this HS&tAMj is pleasantly stonerrific. it makes me want to play the drums but since everyone in my suburban neighborhood is asleep that's probably a bad idea.
  10:55pm
Pleare:

This show is so good.
  11:58pm
lupica:

JT, yep, that was definitely the show I was at. I wrote a bit about it here:http://hiptran.typepad.com/blog/2009/09/1000_saturday_nights.html
  2:00pm
Kramer:

Just docked the star cruiser after a jaunt around the galaxy and what do I find I missed? ML spinning tunes and yarns! Groovy. Welcome back. Cheers.
