Listener comments!

  10/26 10:22pm
efd:

If you're thinking of requesting the Shattered Glass single I'll tell you right now, the b-side is way better.
  10/26 10:25pm
john:

Awesome haul! I'd be all about Nick Gilder and The Passions. APB for old times sake, too. Haven't heard Cindy Bullens in about 30 years, and which was the one with the White Sox reference?
  10/26 10:26pm
Joe:

Hello people of the future! Here are my requests - FROM THE PAST

APB - because its APB and APB is awesome.

The Jaggerz - The Rapper because it's extremely incongruous

Purple Reign because how can you not play a band named that.

The Friendly Hopefuls - "Punks of 76 medley" because it sounds extremely promising.

"So Right" from "Free The Preacher" because its such a great song. I was gonna see if I could find anything on the album that hasn't already been played but according to the playlist search, it's already been pretty thoroughly worked over.

Oh, and the B side of the Shattered Glass single.
  10/26 10:36pm
efd:

oh yeah, the White Sox song ("White Sox Fan") is the b-side of the Huge Hart single. Although it seems to have little if any baseball content, so I'm not sure what's up there.

Joe, bear in mind that since you haven't heard the A-side of the Shattered Glass single you don't really have know what I'm judging the b-side against.
  7:03am
calzone!:

EFD.....I wanna hear Racey, cuz I dig the boss sound of a Chinn/Chapman record...plus Julie Jumper, Gilder, Diesel, Spizzoil, and a double shot of Donnie Iris medley; The Rapper>Ah,Leah would be plastic fantastic!
  4:48pm
Lex Dexter:

I am a 30 year-old, only just now beginning serious power pop studies. It would bolster my morale if you could maybe, possibly play the B side to that Dwight Twilley single, and send it out to Power pop Pop-pop.
  4:51pm
Will:

I would like to request Kimberley Rew - "Stomping All Over The World". Thanks EFD.
  4:57pm
AZ:

For wildly different reasons, it would be hard to go wrong with either the Radio Stars ("From A Rabbit" = probably their best song) or Dickie Goodman. And I've never actually heard "Humbug," the B-side of Greg Lake's "...Father Christmas." (Although there's probably a good reason for that.)
  5:07pm
efd:

AZ, I'm so glad you requested the Dickie Goodman record - pretty sure that will be the show opener. That Greg Lake might be a promo, though, so no b-side.

And Lex Dexter, I'm pretty sure the Twilley is a promo as well so you might just have to suffer through the a-side. :)

Will and Calzone, thanks for your requests!
  5:16pm
Amanda:

I want to hear something off the Throbbing Lobster comp. It doesn't matter what.
  11:02pm
G:

You sdound like Tom tonight
  11:05pm
Spike in SF:

I vote for the Diesel song. I drove by Sausalito on Sunday, and whenever I'm there I think of that song. Haven't heard it in years.
  11:07pm
AZ:

This States song sounds like Sparks meets the Raspberries. Fab!
  11:07pm
dustin:

i keep thinking this is Squeeze!! I like
  11:08pm
Sir Spence:

Woah! I loved that song. I definitely agree on the Sparks comment. I thought it was them at first.
  11:09pm
DJ Terre T:

Ah Leah by Donnie Iris... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORD!!!
  11:10pm
nec13:

Dahnie Iris-The Bob Dylan of Pittsburgh
  11:10pm
Spoony:

One vote for Suzi Quatro, please.

Sorry I missed you this weekend, Evan. I could only make Sunday for an hour. You can't even make it to the Norton table in that time.
  11:10pm
Jim:

God bless you for playing Ah! Leah! I was about to buy it off of iTunes this past weekend, but didn't.
  11:12pm
Jim:

And I was hoping you'd follow it with The Rapper.
  11:13pm
rachel jansen:

  11:14pm

Diesel - astounding English as a Second language pop
  11:16pm
Laurie:

Suzi Quatro and Spizzoil, please!
  11:17pm
G:

Punks of 76 sounds intriguing. Fear not, we are prepared if serendipity doesn't play out 100%...
  11:18pm
nec13:

Evan: Is that Nick Gilder song a cover of Them or The Beach Boys? Or is it not a cover at all?
  11:19pm
TG:

"hot summer night in sausalito" – perfect for a rainy fall NYC evening
  11:19pm
G:

I call beegees SNF ripoff, duh!
  11:19pm
efd:

  11:21pm
Amanda:

  11:22pm
rachel jansen:

  11:22pm
G:

Now Amanda owes him licensing.
  11:24pm
Sybil:

This song sounds as if I really should remember it.
  11:24pm
G:

What tells me Hot Soup's lead singer listened to Hendrix records...
  11:25pm
efd:

nec13- that is a Nicky G original.

No Halloween tunes, Rachel - lots of other shows doing that, though
  11:26pm
efd:

more requests coming up! don't panic!
  11:28pm
Camel:

Whew, I thought I'd been fired again!!!
  11:32pm

toni daytona:

  11:35pm
dave:

i don't care what track you play off that chiliwack record, but i want proof that chiliwack did anything besides that "gone gone gone" song, 'cause i'm pretty sure chiliwack didn't.
  11:38pm
efd:

AZ, congrats! you're in for a treat.
  11:41pm
toni d.:

  11:43pm
Tough Cop:

DJ harrassment is illegal in this jurisdiction, bub.
  11:44pm
Laurie:

I think I need to hear "Skating in the Streets," too. Is it about roller boogie?
  11:44pm
dave:

oh, and obligatory record fair bragging: brown vinyl 10" version of wreckless eric's first album: ch34p. marbled vinyl stranglers promo ep: ch34per. so THERE.
  11:45pm
Amanda:

SPIZZ!!!!!
  11:46pm
Laurie:

Thank you, Mr. DJ!
  11:47pm
efd:

  11:48pm
chris:

  11:54pm

  11:54pm
dave:

  11:54pm
Pete:

EFD

Thanks for the Kimberly Rew song! It came from The Bible Of Bop EP he put out in 81 along with the 7"
  11:55pm
efd:

yep, same band. i'm going to play the song i meant to play when i do the midnight ticket oasis, since the LP version is 6 minutes long
  11:55pm
AZ:

Dave, Chilliwack went all the way back to the 60's, when they were known as the Collectors. Most of their (large) discography sounds nothing like the "Gone Gone Gone" song.
  11:57pm
dave:

serves me right. i thought they were just a bunch of romantics wannabes who had a habit of hanging around manholes.
  11:57pm
G:

dave -- check ""chilliwack" in wikipedia -- they actually reformed in 2005, fwiw
  11:57pm

  12:17am

Set the egg timer...
  12:18am
randy in NC:

This Clean seems kinda Neil Young-ish no?
  12:18am
Chris:

Never listened to your show before but this is great. On call at a hospital in Central MN but now things aren't so bad. Keep it up.
  12:19am
efd:

hi Chris, and welcome! Hope all stays quiet at the hospital.
  12:58am

If you want to hear some great soft pop with a hint of banjo, you should definitely play that Alzo single.

efd:

  1:02am
efd:

btw Hatch (and everyone else), if you didn't hear that States track at the start of the show make sure you check the archive - right up your alley, I think.
  1:07am
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans - EFD I wanna request that you keep on doing the EFD thing! That is all.
  1:07am
john:

Great to hear Cindy Bullens again after, oh, 30 years. Long-since defunct record store here had a big poster for that album up in the stairway you had to climb to get there. They also had one for the Eagles, which may have led to their early demise.
  1:12am
Terre T:

Thanx! Who's better than u Evan?
  1:18am
Danne D:

Hiya Terre!
  1:32am
Terre T:

I guess a close second to my query above would have to be you Danne D!
  1:43am
Joe:

This is awesome, and furthermore is another proof of my theory that all bands with "Super" in their name are awesome. And my theory that all bands named after astrological formations are awesome.
  1:45am
Danne D:

aw thx TT :)
Anyhow I'm gonna hit the sack and log off - night all you find funkophiles :) night EFD!
  1:52am
efd:

thanks as always for checking in, Danne!
  1:58am
AZ:

Stellar show, Evan! Many epiphanies...
  1:12am
