You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Sun. 10/4/09 6:28am Bas, NL:

Happy Birthday to you!! And many more!
Best b'day wishes,
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:08am andy/sunderland:

Happy Birthday Dan! Many happy returns (whatever that actually means)!
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:15am Dan B:

Thanks Bas & Andy. I always think of Winnie the Pooh when I think of the phrase "many happy returns of the day" because that's where I first learned that "many happy returns" means keep living more so you can have more birthdays!
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:26am andy/sunderland:

That makes sense! When I was little I thought it was 'returns' as in presents you received and didn't like so had to take them back to the shop. Which does not make sense.
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:33am james o.:

greetings from los angeles. thanks for the great soundtrack to my graveyard shift, and happy birthday.
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:34am Graham Stark:

Happy birthday Dan!

Did that Art Institute record really have the line:

"Your fanny's like two sperm whales floating down the Seine"

do you reckon that's a complement or an insult?
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:39am Dan B:

@James, thanks - what kind of work?
@Graham, yeah, that IS the lyric, and you ask the question I have always wondered about. I think it might be a surrealist compliment.
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:44am fred:

Happy birthday, I hope you're on the next schedule. I also hope someone recorded yesterday's set of Nihilist Spasm Band with Sun Plexus 2. That was so good it'd be a shame having that greatness restricted to those who were actually there.
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:47am Dan B:

@Fred, yeah, I'll be right here during the next schedule (which starts a week from tomorrow, BTW). Jeffrey Davidson will be back on Sat mornings, too, which I'm very happy to see! Don't know about a recording of the NSB w/SP2 - where was that show?
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:48am james o.:

@ Dan B - i do digital post production stuff for features / TV etc.
seriously, this is great music, 90% of it sounds like you raided my library. thanks so much for the neil young. those are my 2 fav albums as well.
  Sun. 10/4/09 7:57am fred:

That show was at Instants Chavires in Montreuil, France. The venue is in serious trouble but this show took place anyway thanks to Bimbo Tower (best record shop in Paris). There's a double LP imprint out there, hopefully it's as good as last night show was, but I can't say yet. I'm in the process of waking up, and even though I bought it yesterday I haven't given it a listen.
  Sun. 10/4/09 8:11am Adam:

Great show Dan, Happy birthday!
  Sun. 10/4/09 8:21am Dan B:

@ Adam, thanks!
@ fred - I hereby official rename my program "the Bimbo Tower!"
  Sun. 10/4/09 8:29am Tom L (Hallock Hill):

Hi Dan, and a big Happy Birthday.
Sun. 10/4/09 8:40am Gustaf _Trishula and Siddhartha:

  Sun. 10/4/09 8:42am duff:

Great show. Happy b.day. Good to hear I.S.B., Radiohead, and Neil Y. in one show. Wow and Glass Harp! Hadn't heard them since like '73 or something. And the Swans. Ouch.
  Sun. 10/4/09 8:44am Dan B:

@Tom, thanks!
@Gustaf/Siddhartha, nice to have you along!
@Duff, glad you're willing to stick with my mad tangents
  Sun. 10/4/09 8:46am kevin:

  Sun. 10/4/09 8:49am duff:

"Mad Tangents" Hmmn...could that be a band name? Nah, but maybe an album name.
  Sun. 10/4/09 8:56am Dan B:

Fractious Confusion and the Mad Tangents
  Sun. 10/4/09 11:58am i-blis:
