Morning, whats a windy and how do you swallow one?
  9:10am
bw:

  9:12am
zen gallon hat:

So, that is the sound of one fist clopping.
  9:15am
v k:

thanks for makin' my monday morning exciting - once again
  9:17am
PKNY:

I really dig that that Dave Bixby record, thanks for playing!
  9:18am
Joe Steele:

Pretty much everything I know about comics I learn from this show. So I don't know who wrote this, since you haven't said yet.
  9:19am
annie:

good morning.... !!!!!
  9:28am
PMD:

That Katey... wonder how she took care of him.
  9:30am
Duke:

Is iteh comic by Harvey Kurtzman? A 40's version of Brokeback Mountain maybe?
  9:30am
still b/p:

Oh, dear, oh, dear, oh, dear.
Author - US Dept. of Health?
  9:32am
Joe Steele:

Well this is an unexpected turn.
  9:35am
bw:

Duke ya got it right!
joe - unexpected? heh
  9:37am
zen gallon hat:

So that is the sore of ranch-hand clap happening.
  9:46am
v k:

heard a different Jonathan Richman song on 91.5 ("wake up ny") on drive in this a.m. - there is more than one!
  9:51am
Joe Steele:

These two story lines veered very far away from eachother. I'm curious to see if they somehow converge again.
  9:58am
Cecile:

My second volume of Stardust and His Friends should be shipping next week...
  10:03am
Cecile:

Sounds like it's working today.

never apologize, never explain Benjamin!
  10:06am
Cecile:

How about a bunch of inflatable kiddie pools in the 'FMU parking lot?
  10:17am
Carmichael:

Good mornin' everyone.
  10:19am
annie:

morning carm, did you survive your birthday?
  10:21am
Cecile:

Mornin' carm, annie, all.
  10:23am
Carmichael:

Yes Annie, I made it through 2+ weeks of vacation. Low key birthday, relaxing at the beach and wandering through museums. Lots o' fun.
  10:24am
Joe Steele:

"Keep Thursday night open for me." I gotta remember that line.
  10:25am
annie:

sounds great carm...
  10:29am
Joe Steele:

He was singing about Syphilis!? Why was he signing about Syphilis?
  10:29am
Duke:

He was singing about syphilis?!! Is that a common subject for cowboy songs?
  10:30am
bw:

yews I know

this is confusing.. in the comic there is a two page pull out of the song about syphilis..
  10:30am
annie:

Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play; ... now how am i gonna write syphilis in to that tune?? gotta make it catchy for the campfire friday night..
  10:30am
PMD:

Carmichael - happy belated birthday! Did you see the meteor shower?
  10:32am
PMD:

Just got caught up on the comic, so NOW I know what you are talking abuot. How weird!
  10:33am
Cecile:

Ah modern medicine to the rescue

annie, you're killing me here.
  10:33am
Joe Steele:

The ambiguous time period in which this is taking place is equally perplexing.
  10:34am
PMD:

I like how the barbequed steer is in convenient square blocks.
  10:35am
annie:

joe, i was thinkin the same thing.
  10:35am
Carmichael:

Thanks PMD, I did see some of it, as I spent a bit of time laying on my back late at night howling at the moon.

Just kidding.
  10:36am
still b/p:

Sing (or recite) the song!
Dose Riders in the Sack!
  10:39am
annie:

wonder if he dies before the comic is done, will they get idi amin to be a stand-in for lucky?
  10:39am
PMD:

Carmichael - great! I saw none - crappy light pollution here in DC area.

I think I know now how Katey took care of him.
  10:39am
Parq:

Oh give me a home
Where the cowboys get boned
So the syph-a-lis virus can play . . .

Okay, whaddaya want from me it's my first day back from vacation.
  10:41am
annie:

parq, it's better than what i came up with..
  10:42am
PMD:

Parq - eggscellent.
  10:42am
Cecile:

This sounds just like Seabrook Power Plant
  10:48am
bw:

i put the song up
  10:52am
annie:

i personally know of no one who actually says the word "sob" when they are crying..
  10:53am
Parq:

Annie, she was calling him a son of a bitch.
  10:53am
Carmichael:

Only a doctor can cure syph-a-lis .......
  10:54am
Ricky:

  10:54am
PMD:

Parq - LOL!

  10:55am
annie:

  10:56am
annie:

sorry, i should have said "reckon"
  10:57am
cb:

Poor lucky! That's what happens when you get mixed up with dance hall girls!
  11:03am
Wang Chung:

We were so in phase in our dance hall days
  11:13am
jonathan:

huh, weird. liz berg played this orphan fairytale song as well as bathing druid last week. thanks for letting me hear a song on wfmu that i recognise
  11:14am
bw:

that orpahn fairytale record is the bestest!
  11:15am
annie:

lucky only has half an hour to get cured, win the girl, get the cattle back, AND beat up his arch enemy.
  11:17am
cb:

That's a lot of pressure to put on Lucky, but if anybody can do all those things, a comic book cowboy named Lucky can!
  11:21am
Cecile:

Lucky is clean, his tests came back negative a few panels back. But you're right, Annie, dude has a full plate.
  11:23am
LizGig:

That doctor has some amazing diagnostic skills! Must have x-ray vision. Could it be Superdoc hiding behind those glasses?
  11:24am
Lone Ranger:

Hey, I'd love to have that green horse..
  11:24am
cb:

I know, right? Like how did he diagnose a busted rib with a stethescope? Amazing!
  11:25am
dei xhrist:

suddenly this strip adds one of the Four Horses of the Apocalypse - the fourth one was a green, according to Aphrodite's Child
  11:26am
dc pat:

the 5th one must have been red.
  11:27am
More Campfire Songs:

Out in the STD town of El Paso,
I fell afoul of a less-than clean girl,
Nighttime had found me in Katie's vageena,
Me and them damn spirochetes had a whirl...
  11:30am
tired formula?:

so-so story + booze reference = good story
  11:30am
Burl Ives:

That's on the B-side of my song "Sweet Betsy of Pike"
  11:35am
Trapper:

You guys are young!
  11:36am
wallyballou:

Dylan was looking for the house wher Springsteen wrote Born to Run, http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=8335824&page=1
  11:36am
John M:

Ben! The missing intern whose story you are referring to is the story of Chandra Levy. Her story was revived this year by the wonderful institution called the Washington Post. Thanks to the Post's story, Gary Condit has essentially been cleared of any wrongdoing and another man has been indicted.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/metro/specials/chandra/
  11:37am
bw:

  11:38am

LizGig:

Lucky and Sal gaze deeply into each other's eyes as their blood intermingles...
  11:44am
annie:

"........which is her right, of course" i love that...
  11:44am
dei x:

it's their right, of course. There's ain't no "death panel" in the ol' West.
  11:44am
Parq:

My workload for the week has just arrived in a great big pile. This sinister piano riff, insistently repeating, is setting just the right tone.
  11:45am
bw:

hi CB - this next one is for you!
  11:46am
Carmichael:

What kind of ambulance do they have in the 'ol West? The newspaper guys look ilke they're from Superman. I'm confused. Is this a Western?
  11:47am
John M:

No problem, D-dubs. I'm bitter they didn't win a pulitzer for reviving the story & doing the DC Police Department's job for them. Anywho, White Magic rock. Thanks for the good tunes.
  11:48am
annie:

carm that's why i think it's from the 50s
  11:50am
Joe Steele:

Yet horse still seems to be the main mode of transit.
  11:51am
Parq:

Meanwhile, a little boy named George was growing up . . .
  11:51am
dei x:

It takes place in the Old West with photocopiers, electric lights on the bed frame, and no condoms.
  11:52am
LizGig:

It's an early example of the alternative history genre. With added syphilis.
  11:55am
woman's work:

  11:55am
dc pat:

oh NO! Lucky's kids inherited his weird tiny nose!!
  11:55am

  11:56am
annie:

  11:57am
Doc says:

Someday this here territory will be a state, but until then, screw any confidentiality laws.
  11:57am
PMD:

DOes syphillis make your kids do the dishes?
  11:58am
Joe Steele:

You'd think after having three kids Mrs. Lucky would have something else to talk about other than the pre-marital syphilis
  11:58am
Carmichael:

I like the varnished Glen Campbell hair on the little kids.
  11:58am
annie:

makes em think girls should stay in the house and do women's work
  11:59am
bw:

1949!
  11:59am
Carmichael:

Looks like the AMA put out this cartoon.
  11:59am
dc pat:
