Were you gonna do "Always the Sun" by the Stranglers? 80s, baby! Gotta do Bullet Lavolta for a Boston show...
  7:10am
Meghan:

Yep, I am trying to find some Bullet Lavolta.... we had it on cassette, but Jeff gave away all our cassettes since we had nothing to play them on....
  7:12am
Chuck:

I've got a couple of their songs... I'll zap them over to you...
  7:15am
Meghan:

That would be great..... I am gonna look here too, hopefully I will find something!
  7:24am
Chuck:

Whoa! What's up with the machinery?
  7:24am
Meghan:

??? why what you hear?
  7:28am
Chuck:

Skipping! Could be the audio stream though... There are 3 Bullet Lavolta songs being transmitted to you right now, which may also be the cause...
  7:28am
Meghan:

That must be why.... it wasn't doing it here...
  7:34am
Chuck:

You have Bullet Lavolta in your email inbox now... And no more skipping, OMG that's annoying!
  7:36am
Jeff:

Great show today, but it's lonely without B-man. I really hope this brings the sun out, since Chris is on his way over for an epic ride today.

By the way, Yellow Mustard Rulez, it's been more than 15 years since you took German, the other Bullet Lavolta album I was looking for was "The Gun didn't Know I was Loaded", and I haven't heard any skipping here.
  7:36am
Meghan:

thanks Chuck! no more skipping!
  7:37am
Meghan:

Ladies and Gentlemen.... Jeff is awake and catching us all up! Thanks Jeff! Bosco is sleeping... it's so cute
  7:39am
wha?:

I've been meaning to say, this reminds me of KBC Radio. Anyone out there remember KBC on WFMU?
  7:40am
Jeff:

Hey, I've been awake since 5:30. I've just been enjoying lying in bed on this beautiful morning.
  7:41am
Chuck:

Morning Jeff! Yeah, some stuff is hard to find these days.. Especially on CD...
  7:46am
Meghan:

You mean Bitslap with KBC, correct? I see the archives and they are recent, but I don't see when it's on.....
  7:48am
Jeff:

Here it comes... I can feel it! I thought we might get it with Keep On THe Sunny Side, but that's too obvious. THis is way better!
  7:49am
Meghan:

Just a twofer today.... I had so many last week, i figure i would give you all a break! hehe
  7:50am
Jeff:

Doh! you fooled me.
  7:51am
Chuck:

Can't have everything, Jeff...
  7:54am
Chuck:

Ha! I've heard this version before on VKR... Terrific!
  8:01am
wha?:

Huh. I wonder if it's the same KBC.
The KBC I was thinking of hasn't been on since mid-nineties. But I see the recent archives you're talking about. I also can't tell when the show is from the schedule.
  8:04am
Meghan:

Yeah i am not sure either.... i was trying to see if anything else popped up from it too. I am curious to what you are talking about though! Let me know if you find it! send me a link- underwater@wfmu.org
  8:05am
Chuck:

Ah, another song on the list that I totally zoned on and forgot to send you... Seems you're doing well without my input though...
  8:06am
wha?:

What kind of Boston bands are you looking for?

Two that come to mind are Babaloo and the Velcro Peasants. No reason for you to have heard of the 'Peasants, though. I'd be really surprised if you found a VP CD in the record library.
  8:06am
Meghan:

hehe, thanks Chuck! There are so many songs.... really had to pick out what I wanted...
  8:08am
Meghan:

Looking for any Boston Based bands really. I will look for those two. You might be amazed at what I can find sometimes. Hell, I am amazed at what I find!
  8:10am
Chuck:

Just as well... My list had over 250 songs on it! Talk about decision overload!
  8:11am
Meghan:

HA! Yup!
  8:16am
Chuck:

It gets scarier! My initial list had over 630 songs... I chopped it down by excluding the words Sundown and Sunrise for starters...
  8:17am
wha?:

Great idea for a theme, by the way. You have a million bands to choose from. Of course, you might go crazy trying to choose.

The KBC Radio show appeared to be well-established when I started listening in '94. He also played on a theme most weeks. I vaguely remember some of the themes being pretty off-the-wall. The holiday themed shows were pretty memorable. I'd like to say it was a staple of my WFMU diet, though I didn't get to listen every week.

Then one day the show was just gone. I think archived playlists hung around for a few years (though maybe I'm wishfully mis-remembering this), but now there doesn't seem to be any evidence of the show from that time. I might have an old LCD with a program schedule packed away somewhere. (I've moved 4 times since then.)
  8:18am
Ken From Hyde Park:

These theme shows are cool. I just made the connection ... The show's title says theme park and each week has a theme. Clever. If you wanted to spice things up a bit today, I guess there's "Flight of Icarus" by Iron Maiden.

Meghan (and I for that matter) are full blown Pixies fans... She'll be playing them guaranteed!
  8:47am

The biggest problem with the Pixies is PICKING a song! SOOOO hard! What album? They are all too good! And don't worry, Mission of Burma is on the list as well.....
  8:50am
ec:

Are the Modern Lovers from Boston, or somewhere else in MA?
  8:50am
