Listener comments!

  12:13pm cecile:

  12:14pm Glenn L:

Where is everybody?
  12:14pm Liz B.:

Crickets: "Chirp! Chirp!"
  12:15pm Marshall Stacks:

'Morning, Liz! You're easing me into my day.
  12:16pm Ike:

Ha! You all LOSE the secret game of Dead Comment Chicken that you didn't even know you were playing.
  12:17pm dc pat:

I was thinking about Dead Comment Chicken the other day but didn't know how to start the game.
  12:19pm Glenn L:

Damn, I always lose at games I don't even know I'm playing.
  12:20pm Marshall Stacks:

I think "YKK" would have been a better title for this track.
  12:25pm still b/p:

We could -- although we shouldn't, and won't! -- try another group-mind/chicken game in which we try to count to twenty in order by individual entries without duplication. A repeated number requires a restart. It could drive us and some of the comment-disdaining staff-members maaaad!
  12:28pm Parq:

"Dead Comment Chicken" would make a good -- you know --
  12:28pm BSI:

suddenly quite hungry...
  12:28pm ?:

I like it: 1
  12:29pm still b/p:

..pot-luck offering?
  12:29pm dc pat:

? = me
  12:29pm Cecile:

me, too, BSI

  12:31pm Joe Steele:

Short lunchtime meeting. Back now.
  12:31pm BSI:

...but can't duck out for lunch if mind-shatteringly awesome stuff like Prince Rama keeps coming up... gak! Dillemma!
  12:32pm still b/p:

skipped number, restart, or stop before it's too late!
  12:33pm Joe Steele:

Thats why I keep all the ingredients for a kick-ass PB&J at the ready.
  12:33pm Bad Ronald:

  12:33pm dc pat:

  12:33pm BSI:

gak! again!
  12:33pm dc pat:

SHIT! This is hard.
  12:34pm sebastian:

you're not testing your new traktor pro's features, are you?
  12:35pm Cush:

What's up everyone
  12:38pm cecile:

I just had a lovely bowl of microwaved Comment Chicken soup.

  12:41pm still b/p:

Well, maybe we can try only between now and 1:00 PM.

  12:42pm Liz B.:

Lots of conspiring today, folks!
  12:43pm dc p:

  12:44pm annie:

  12:45pm Bad Ronald:

  12:45pm Cecile:

  12:45pm dc pat:

sshshsh... we're playing a game.
  12:47pm still b/p:

annie - see 12:25

  12:48pm Joe Steele:

I for one don't have the faintest clue as to what's going on.
  12:49pm annie:

i'm game

  12:49pm Joe Steele:

Now I do.

  12:53pm cecile:

10 my number and the number of sheep I am counting
  12:53pm Strongbad:

Just keep doing your thing, man.
  12:53pm dc p:

  12:56pm doug from dc:

Had a great weekend: DC record fair, then Magick Markers & Ghost (w/Helena Espvall) live.

  12:57pm Joe Steele:

That does sounds tempting actually. I'm gonna be in the neighborhood.
  12:58pm BillyJam:

hey Liz B, speaking of zippers - check out the DJ Yoda "Zipper Scratch" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDcpFoGaaNY - On Friday will be playing the Liz Berg "Oracle (remix)"
  12:58pm still b/p:

Another day maybe. Inflict it on Ken.
  1:07pm doug from dc:

Sort of like Sysyphus.

  1:10pm Happy Listener:

In Moon Geun Young, when he mentions the "22 bus", is he talking about the 22 Clark bus in Chicago?
  1:11pm dc p:

  1:19pm GP:

Back from lunch....

  1:19pm Ike:

Did I hear it wrong, or did Mike Rep suggest cutting out Donovan's brain? I like that idea. He's not using it anyway. HA! Awesome song.
  1:26pm Cecile:

Is Jeffrey Lewis the guy who does the history of punk?
  1:26pm BSI:

back from a superior turkey-burger & onion rings from Loeb's (closest think DC gets to a legit NY-style) Deli.

Oh, and........ E.

Down with numbers!
  1:28pm Glenn L:

Yes, Cecile.
  1:28pm cecile:

  1:36pm Tom:

  1:38pm BSI:

Annie: pay no attention to the BSI behind the curtain. I have no idea what's going on, just making an ass of myself.

You bet, Joe, We Are the Arm are making this whole set available on the FMA.
  2:10pm Joe Steele:

Nice. Move over Batman, I have a new hero.
  2:14pm Ike:

Hey Jorge, random food question. Do they have huaraches, sopes, huitlacoche, and papas rellenos in Spain or are those strictly eaten on the WFMU side of the ocean?

"I really like books. Hey, where are you going?" HA!
  2:15pm GP:

This Togetherness song sounds like a soundtrack for a trippy 70's after school special about skateboarding friends or something.....it also sounds very cool.
  2:15pm Cecile:

Okay, this is totally going in a mix with Hall and Oates, FoTC, Todd Rundgren and Tony Toni Tone's goofier songs.
  2:16pm cecile:

like the unfilmed sequel to Rex Smith's Sooner or Later. bwah!
  2:16pm frenchee:

I think it sounds like Flight of the Conchords with Billy Jam frontin'.
More drugz please!

Ha ha, you guys are spot-on with the WATA associations!
  2:17pm Cecile:

frenchee, that HAS to happen. MAKE IT HAPPEN, PLZ.
  2:19pm cecile:

  2:20pm Cecile:

I know the word mentirosa cause of Mellow Man Ace
  2:21pm frenchee:

Cecile, that's a great idea!
  2:21pm WATA Bren:

Pleased to hear it all! Sounds great & we had a great time performing! Thanks Liz!
  2:22pm cecile:

you are awesome. Smooches!
  2:22pm GP:

LOL Cecile...I have not heard the name "Mellow Man Ace" in about 15 years! I used to REALLY like that video..
  2:23pm too:

i bet dollar to donuts the bass player is playing a carvin bass
  2:24pm Cecile:

Doug plays it on Give the Drummer Some sometimes. LMAO!
  2:25pm GP:

Cecilie..now I'm going to have look for the video on YouTube when I get home tonight.
  2:27pm cecile:

Ik,e they just started getting good huaraches up in Mpls. Sooo deliicous
  2:33pm dru:

hanes on you, really made my day. wow!
  2:39pm bw:

you are still there??!! heh - just had lunch, did work, glad I still get some LB time
  2:43pm Liz B.:

Hey BW, I'm still heeeeeerrrre!
  2:43pm jorge:

really sorry Ike i was not looking at the messages, well the food youre talking about sounds more southamerica oriented, anyway you have some yummy peruvian restaurants here, and i have to say that some spanish food are delicious (and i dont eat meat just for the record lol )
  2:48pm GP:

Liz, are you wearing your DEVO hat?
  2:51pm Ike:

Thanks, Jorge. I wasn't sure if those were strictly Latin American foods or if they were bicontinental. Is it hard to be a vegetarian in Spain? I usually think of Spanish-speaking countries as being very meat-oriented.
  2:52pm Bo:

Kaht Lahot?? what language is this? great!!!
  2:53pm Jorge:

yeah ike is very hard, in spain everything is pork oriented and meat oriented also in southamerica but well you have more vegetables there i guess, is hard but no impossible.
  2:54pm Cecile:

you have olives and cheese and good bread and wine and peppers
that helps a little I'd bet
  2:54pm Liz B.:

Kaht Lahot was in Khmer (Cambodian), this album is full of schoolkids from Phnom Penh rapping, great!
  2:55pm dc pat:

hey Jorge, it's getting really easy to be a vegetarian over here--in cities anyway. Don't you have lots of options in the cities?
  2:56pm dc pat:

that was great Liz. Do you have that Brazilian tune with the kid rapping?
  2:58pm Ryan B:

Hey Liz- good to hear you representin' Thailand. You have anything by Slot Machine by any chance?
  2:58pm annie:

  2:59pm dc pat:

  2:59pm dc pat:

well dc is kinda easy in most of europe (i love brussels cause theyre almost no meat oriented lol) but spain still is a hard country to handle with the no meat hting, Barcelona is very international though, you have vegetarian restaurants but still have this kinda feeling of look at vegetarians like people who want to be healthy and in good shape.
  2:59pm Ike:

I haven't been able to give up meat, but I don't cook it myself at home. That's my compromise. But Thai food isn't really Thai food without fish sauce and I love strange ethnic cuisines which often have meat hidden in them so I can't become 100% vegetarian.
  3:02pm cecile:

I can do less meat, not meatless.
  3:03pm Ike:

Oooh, I like that, Cecile. I'm adopting that phrase. Concise.

Hmm I think that was Jorge and not DC Pat at 2:59.

Thanks, Liz, for a great show!
