Listener comments!

  12:03pm
GP:

Good morning Liz.. Where is that version of "Affection" that was just played from?
  12:03pm
Hey Liz:

Nikolaj form Denmark, Skammens vogn here! Love your show!
  12:06pm
Liz B.:

Hi Nikolaj, thanks for putting my face in your new record! Very funny! Hi GP, that version of "Affection" is by Jonathan Richman (it's Ben Walker's closing theme, so he probably knows more than me).
  12:06pm
BSI:

hmmm.... I've been hunting down a copy of Alien Brain Vs. Skinwalkers, but didn't realize it was reworked older material... or is Papal Breakdance an exception? I thought HELL IS INVISIBLE...was a great return to form. Just curious about this new one...
  12:07pm
gerardo:

hola²!
  12:09pm
ted:

is ian curtis wearing a retainer??
  12:10pm
gerardo:

liz's face in a record? i wanna see that!
  12:15pm
Liz B.:

BSI, looks like a few tracks on the PTV3 2xLP are newly recorded. I think you may be right about Ian Curtis in that song, Ted!
  12:16pm
GP:

Thanks Liz..Im off to lunch.
  12:19pm
stingy d:

everybody should really not worry about it... and spend the money on this dario argento soundtracks box set... it's solid gold!

good morning lb!
  12:23pm
Doug from DC:

DC had it's first record fair in a long time (years?) yesterday at Civilian Arts Center. It was mobbed!
  12:25pm
dc pat:

yeah, I was there DfDC...for about 15 minutes--too hot and crowded. I spent my money at RFD instead.
  12:28pm
Jorge:

Hey ya Liz, good to listen to your show again, it seems like @wfmu.org still reject my emails and i neeed to talk to you, don´t know why ???
  12:31pm
Doug from DC:

They need a bigger space next time. I hung in there and found some good ones.
  12:32pm
Ken:

Transmitter work for today has been cancelled Liz - just to let you know.. trying again tomorrow.
  12:35pm
Liz B.:

Hi Jorge, I'll drop you a line after the show, too bad the e-mail is getting messed up. Thanks Ken, was looking forward to playing dead air on purpose, but alas... foiled!
  12:35pm
stingy d:

liz did you say mi ami was gonna be live at the station?
  12:36pm
BSI:

Doug: Saturday was insane. We had a contractor over to work up a quote on some (badly needed) repairs to the house, then of course it was CORN WEENIE remix day. Otherwise I would've been there, drooling over all the lovely vinyl goodies....
  12:36pm
Liz B.:

Mi Ami will be live on my show next week, Stingy. They're playing a few NYC shows this week.
  12:37pm
dc pat:

My buddy picked up some good stuff--he's more dedicated than I am.

cannot wait for the live Mi Ami...
  12:37pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  12:37pm
SmallyBiggs:

I'm lovin' this African Rythms shtuff.
  12:38pm
stingy d:

yea i am going to try and catch one of them. i really like everything i have heard from them... i have a feeling they are extra-good live too.
  12:40pm
Jorge:

thanks a lot liz, i love mi ami by the way.
  12:48pm
SmallyBiggs:

I have a strange request....wait can we even we request to hear a song?
  12:50pm
Liz B.:

Hey Smally, doesn't hurt to ask, but I can't guarantee that it will be played.
  12:51pm
SmallyBiggs:

Well, I would just love to hear "Dance the Slurp" By I dunno who....
Thank you either way :)
  12:56pm
Liz B.:

Ha ha, that's a good one, Smally, will try to fit that in somewhere.
  12:58pm
SmallyBiggs:

Thanks. Petit Mal is my new favorite artist by the way. My favorite song by them is "Possessed".
  1:04pm
dc pat:

Boredoms...oh for the days of Soul Discharge...
  1:04pm
gerardo:

[back from lunch]

btw, what's happening with the transmitter?

[[hola, jorge, ¿cómo anda todo por allá?]]
  1:06pm
Liz B.:

If you listen to our 91.1 FM signal over the air, you may notice a high-pitched noise over everything... we are trying to figure out what it is and fix it. Very annoying.
  1:06pm
detroitdave:

Hi Liz B, just back from lunch, hello everyone!
  1:08pm
detroitdave:

Liz, will we be hearing any Cramps today??
  1:08pm
dc pat:

Boredoms in the good ol' days:
http://tinyurl.com/borebore

My pal is the guy high-fiving Yoshi.
  1:10pm
jorge:

hey gerardo, un poco loco porque le estoy organizando giras a algunas bandas por aquí y por líma
  1:11pm
dc pat:

the high-pitched noise is coming from Ken's laptop.
  1:13pm
Hey:

Liz... music behind you?
  1:14pm
Cecile:

I did a corn weenie remix. Like 8 hours for 1:30 of music. OF course most of it was learning how the hell to use GarageBand.

I like it. I hope Ken likes it enough to play it.

I really didn't like the Boredoms that much in their coprophilia stage, I turned into a huge raving booster when I stumbled onto them on the Super AE tour.

Lou Rawls, Liz!
  1:15pm
Ike:

DC Pat, ha ha, no, it's a different noise, only on 91.1 FM stereo.

Great sounds! This show is helping to keep me from exploding in fury today.
  1:17pm
BSI:

Cecile-
wednesday morning can't come soon enough.
  1:18pm
trent:

bergan beatz
  1:18pm
Joe:

the noise disappears for me when I change my radio from stereo to mono. If anyone else can't take it anymore.
  1:19pm
dc pat:

"coprophilia?" whachoo talkin bout Cecile?
  1:20pm
Cecile:

I mean, BSI.
I decided to go the drum 'n' bass route. It was a hoot. Now I think I'm the new FTD Bukem or whatever his name is.
  1:20pm
Cecile:

All their poo poo obsessed records in the 90s, pat?
  1:22pm
gerardo:

i see..., thanx for the info, liz

that reminds me of a local radiostation i used to listen a lot in the late 80s, radio umbral. (95.3 FM) . their signal was very weak, and they played mostly chilean and latinamerican music, and had a strong anti-Pinochet attitude. unfortunately, the return of democracy didn't mean improvements for the station, which closed up in the early 90s...

[qué bueno que andas tan activo, jorge, de qué bandas se trata?]

[hi detroit dave, hi everyone around]

[[working on a corn weenie reemix, 2, cecile]]
  1:24pm
Ike:

Joe, yeah, I've had my radios in mono since early December, but my Walkman and car radio can't go mono, so I can't listen while walking or driving. That screeching buzz could peel paint off walls. Hooray for archives!
  1:25pm
dc pat:

only thing I remember is obsession with screaming their heads off. Some of the best live shows I've witnessed.
  1:26pm
Joe:

I'm glad someone else has been hearing it for that long... I thought I was losing my mind.
  1:26pm
SmallyBiggs:

This officially my favorite show since you played Dance the Slurp
Thanks
  1:27pm
BSI:

Cecile;
My corn weenie (so to speak) is a disturbingly loop-ish quasi pagan chanting noise-trance thing. Typical BSI fare, but fun. Perhaps there's enough submissions for a killer compilation CD release...
  1:28pm
BSI:

oh, by the way, this Magic Lantern track can go on for hours, I'd adore it. Magnificent stuff!
  1:28pm
Liz B.:

Can't wait to hear all of your corn weenie remixes! Hey Jorge, my e-mail to you was bounced, it said your mailbox was full!
  1:28pm
Ike:

Joe, for a while, I thought I was going bonkers too! It's gotten worse, right?
  1:29pm
Liz B.:

BSI, you predicted correctly, this Magic Lantern track does go on forever... and it's soooo good, I can't stop it!
  1:31pm
Cecile:

BSI, no kidding, and Bonus points for a Lovecraftian song title.
  1:32pm
jorge:

Something is really wrong with your email account liz i have check out and im only using 4% of my email account space.

Gerardo im making spanish tours for people like Eric chenaux, wildbirds and peacedrums, Fursaxa, Retribution Gospel Choir, etc ,etc. For Perú im working with chicha libre and low right now.
  1:33pm
Liz B.:

I'll try from gmail, Jorge, I hope something works! Our e-mail does get kinda weird here and there...
  1:34pm
jorge:

thanks a lot Liz.
  1:36pm
stingy d:

nobody is there today?
  1:37pm
stingy d:

i am not talking about anything.
  1:43pm
detroitdave:

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz................................*
  1:44pm
stingy d:

but i have generated a question:

what is the best kind of sleeve for records? i hate the flimsy plastic one's they get crushed too easily, but are they better for the longevity or somethign??
  1:45pm
Ike:

Ones ones ones ones ones ones ones.

Damn this is racy. I like.
  1:48pm
stingy d:

i dont care bout literateness
  1:49pm
detroitdave:

stingy, my experience is the paper sleeves do better. The plastic sleeves are subject to static and will attract particles while the paper ones will absorb some debris instead of pressing it into the vinyl.
  1:50pm
stingy d:

yea that makes sense to me. i am gonn'a get extra some of dem .things thanks dave.
  1:52pm
dc pat:

wow, wish I had Trent's living room.
  1:52pm
marty mcsorley:

man you are sneeky my recording came out really bad
  1:54pm
jorge:

by the way liz i was listening the other day to your Lima field recordings, quite hilarious specially because of the radio station which is sucj a classic when youre into a tico, did you panic at any part of the ride ? lol
  1:54pm
Liz B.:

That recording was from Andy's camera... it records mono audio. Not the best, but passable. I wish I had Trent's living room, too!
  1:56pm
annie:

the only corn weenie remix i'll be doing, is throwing it in with some beans, sorry to say.. AND, i might not even hear the whole thing... i really hope it goes into archive!! ken, you hear me? you out there?
  1:59pm
Liz B.:

My taxi rides in Lima were a little scary... the cab drivers here are all really fast and swerve a lot, but they rarely hop the curb!
  2:00pm
marty mcsorley:

i tired on my tape recorder but it just came out far away and though a lot of party mingling. new wfmu premium ranchero shirts and belts?
  2:04pm
Parq:

Liz, I promise this is the last time I'll ask this - what is the circusy music playing under the current mike break?
  2:06pm
Liz B.:

Music is by Etienne Charry, from the album "36 Erreurs"
  2:07pm
SPENCER:

HEY LIZ!
  2:08pm
Parq:

Merci. I wrote it down this time.
  2:08pm
Liz B.:

Hey Spencer! Richard is famous on the radio!
  2:08pm
SPENCER:

I'm jammin' to it
  2:17pm
DS:

Etienne Charry....are they real?
  2:19pm
Liz B.:

http://www.etiennecharry.com/
  2:22pm
DS:

Etienne Charry are French!!
wouldn't have guessed
they sound so American...but of an indeterminate time
  2:42pm
Cecile:

Regia against the Machine?
  2:48pm
Scott:

Liz, ask Richard if we can have the Mardi Gras party at his apartment.... please.
  2:54pm
north guinea hills:

although my mexigf eschews all things mexican, she didn't mention constitution day to me. however, the history nerd in me tells me it is on Feb 5.
  2:55pm
Liz B.:

Ah, yes, we recorded the Regia session on 2/5, that makes sense! Jorge, I couldn't e-mail you from gmail either! It gave me the same error (mail quota exceeded). I'll try your old e-mail.
  2:56pm
jorge:

no way everybodys mailimg me normally, weird !
  2:59pm
jeff m:

  3:00pm
