Beeramid is all hits. I'm really impressed, all kidding aside. It's a killer record.
  12:40pm bzul:

For Christmas, I want the organ more up front all the way through this.
  12:45pm Bad Ronald:

I would like to bring attention to the fact that I am refraining from any up front organ jokes.
  12:50pm bzul:

So noted that BR bein' so nice and non-naughty because we know who's making a list...
  12:51pm annie:

It was hard... to resist!

K, thanks for the update Annie/!
  12:54pm bzul:

..keep it up(!) a few weeks and maybe "101 Organ Jokes For All Occasions" will be under the tree!
  12:55pm Karl:

Hi Joe,

Stuck in bed with flu and scanning the internet for radio stations and came across WFMU. Great music!
Then you mentioned Wild Billy Childish, and I thought I send you a message, as I happen to know Billy. We sometimes see him up in town in Camden, the Dirty Water Club and he had a Private View up in London a couple of weeks ago.
You may be interested in another 'local' band from Kent (England): Ben Cooper Rockin is a competely different proposition though, but check out www.coopermania.co.uk

Best
Karl
  12:56pm risky!:

kill it with the rock & roll! ! !
  12:56pm annie:

welcome to the sandbox karl
  12:56pm geezer:

You Rock Karl!
  12:58pm risky!:

this is the best designed DJ page ever... not to mention the best logo in WFMU!

____________R I S K Y
  12:59pm PMD:

I do indeed love the logo. I was noticing it again today.
  1:02pm Joe B:

Glad you are digging the logo. It was done by Robert Piersanti piersantistudios.com. He also did the Terre T logo and lots of other cool stuff for FMU.

Hi everybody, thanks for tunin in today!
  1:03pm Pre_Menstrual_Delay:

Fuckin' A we be rockin'!
  1:04pm dc pat:

just got that Billy Childish xmas album...that makes about 30 albums by him I have...
  1:05pm Joe B:

Bad Ronald - no credit on the ML tune - he sent an mp3.

Karl, thanks for the tip, get well soon.
  1:06pm annie:

pat do you put them in the 'puter immediatly so they can be saved?
  1:08pm dc pat:

funny you should mention that--29 of them are on vinyl. That xmas one is the first Childish album I have on CD. Sooo, haven't listened to his stuff in awhile.
  1:08pm detroitdave:

Thanks Joe, caught the end of that and wanted to hear more of it.
  1:09pm annie:

wow, still vinyl. you rock.. get yourself a burner for the turntable .. still have to hook this one up here... yeah, right...
  1:10pm Karl:

Only another 80 or so albums to go... Check out Billy's first band The Pop Rivets (esp Beatle Boots).

Many thanks for all the well wishers. Glad I found this station, just the sort of medication I need ...

Best
Karl
  1:10pm annie:

hang around karl, it only gets better..
  1:14pm detroitdave:

Looks like you have a great set going..........I gotta start takin lunch earlier!
  1:15pm cd pat:

yep, I have Pop Rivets. I think the Milkshakes were the best.
  1:16pm dc pat:

annie: I borrowed a friends burner and succeeded in digitizing a grand total of 2 albums. That ain't gonna happen..
  1:18pm annie:

yeah, i tried it a couple of years ago with a download program.. it was okay, but i just did not dig the editing part.. and so i gave it up .. have a new burner here, now. will try that sometime this winter..
  1:20pm Bad Ronald:

Thanks Joe, I was thrown off by the title and lyrics when the tune was obviously George's. I guess it's a Weird Al type homage.
  1:23pm dc pat:

hey Joe, play the Pop Rivets. ModModMod LimbarettaVespaScootah!
  1:24pm PMD:

Pat and Annie - why not just play them on a turntable! (I know, I know, you can't input that into an MP3 player).
  1:25pm annie:

oh man....
  1:26pm dc pat:

I can't find the power cable to my turntable! ...so I guess converting them is TOTally out of the question
  1:26pm annie:

PMD- oh for sure, but i really hate lugging these things around anymore.. but i guess i'm here for the duration, so maybe it matters not...
  1:28pm PMD:

DC Pat - I'm sure there's some way to get a power cord... Annie, I know. I just moved and have a box full of records - though I only recently was given an old turntable. If / when I move again, I will indeed be cursing the vinyl.
  1:29pm Karl:

This becoming a bit of a Billy Childish discussion but check out the Sunday Times Supplement article (I think three or so weeks ago) which give you a good insight into his work (as a painter mainly), well that is what he tells me anyway, check it out online: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/visual_arts/article4907686.ece

Yeah I know, man. Let me put it this way. Did you ever really need an album, and then when you finally got it, you listen a few times and then never touch again? That's the way I feel about all my music. That's why I listen to the radio.
  1:32pm annie:

you took the words, pat, right out of my front lobe. i think we buy it so we can imprint it on the memory banks.. then the nostalgia kicks in when we get the tune on the radio.. and we can let the dj flip the thing..
  1:34pm Schmegma:

God! How fuckin' sad is that?
  1:34pm annie:

but i do, still, nurse this urge to do radio once again.
  1:37pm dc pat:

it's not sad, it's a sublime addiction. I always need more (and different) and the best dealers are at FMU.
  1:38pm annie:

therefore, i WILL lug my vinyl... whatever it takes.
  1:39pm Schmegma:

And so? You can buy crack and spare the record purchase?
  1:40pm dc pat:

Karl, there's a lot to take in form that article. Thanks. Check out Ian Svenvonius interview of Childish: http://tinyurl.com/bchildish
  1:42pm Bad Ronald:

I dig this Royal Purple tune!
  1:49pm annie:

OMG!!! that is what i've been meaning to do.. i can catalogue and cross reference the lps this winter.. wow.. thanks joe
  1:50pm annie:

better than coutin flowers on the wall..
  1:50pm Jeb:

The Royal Purple tune was written by Bachman Turner Overdrive.
  1:52pm Bad Ronald:

Cool, thanks Jeb!
  1:56pm Jenn:

Thanks for this song. I know they are truly singing to me, though I've never heard this song before. It will be added to my many songs with my name in the title.
  2:13pm dc pat:

Holy crap! Pete Best!
  2:15pm rubble:

And he'll still sign autographs!!! :)
  2:17pm Karl:

Thanks for the link, Pat, will check it out. Not sure whether WFMU plays Modest Mouse stuff, but Billy was their intro to their Royal Albert Hall gig last year.

A young Scottish group may be of interest to some of you guys over there. Even if you don't appreciate the music you might like one of their videos. Check out Shit Disco http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OXM5LGfpmrE

Out for now.
Best
Karl
  2:18pm beatlenerd:

I believe Hayman's Green is where the Casbah Club was.... little Beatles trivia for you all... :)
  2:30pm David Shortell:

Having seen Pete's band play the Stone Pony (whose roof recently collapsed) a few years back, I gotta wonder: is there an additional drummer credited on that record?
  2:31pm dc pat:

maybe Ringo helped him out.
  2:32pm Bad Ronald:

He was that bad?
  2:35pm Cynthia:

Roag Best is always credited and always plays with Pete! Pete didn't leave him in back in Liverpool! Anyway..Pete was great and so was the whole band the 5 or 6 times I've seen them. If they come to your town, check it out. They do all the old, old club stuff. Real rawdy and rockin. Pete's has the same chops as always. He's good.
  2:39pm Bad Ronald:

Thanks for setting the record straight Cynthia.
  2:46pm dc pat:

HEY! This sounds just like 1969!! WTF?!!!!
  2:46pm ?:

nice sleuthwork, sherlock
  2:48pm annie:

kooky gals... hehe
  2:48pm dc pat:

I make joke, question mark.
  2:50pm annie:

surely you jest, exclamation mark
  2:52pm detroitdave:

Joe B's got a great show (many exclamation marks)
  2:55pm detroitdave:

yeah as I was sayin he's got a grea..........hey..media player dropped out again......STONE HIM!!!!
  2:55pm annie:

where the hell has the day gone??
  3:02pm detroitdave:

Another great one Joe, thanks!
