Tuned in yesterday for the first time and today again a reference my patch (Kent, UK). Kevin Ayer and Softmachine. Got interested in Softmachine in the 70s and when I moved to Kent I ended up living right opposite Hugh Hopper. Great stuff!

Yes it was a nice change of pace from the insanity of Kenny G!

Okay, okay we get the picture....
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:34pm Lizardner Dave:

The Conet project is the creepiest recording of the 20th century. I can't listen to this for more than a few minutes without getting weirded out.
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:36pm rumpltforeskin:

Yeah - the Conet project is fantastic- as art, as social commentary, as ear candy
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:38pm rumpltforeskin:

Does Bowtie also have songs about, oh, Dick Tracy, Prince Valiant, Mark Trail, and Mary Worth???
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:41pm rumpofsteelskin:

rumpltforeskin haha.
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:44pm annie:

wow they did it!!!! word up
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:47pm crispinator:

There should be an entire channel on sattellite radio devoted to backwards rock songs
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:47pm Hooty Sapperticker:

I am now obsessed with the Conet Project.

"The project's name comes from a mishearing of the Czech word konec, or 'end,' which marks the end of transmissions on the Czech numbers station."
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:48pm jan:

what's with all the chirpy, syrupy soft rock male vocalists? seems to becoming a thing with you...
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:49pm Irwin:

Jan, now you've got ME concerned!
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:51pm Cecile:

Not, syrupy, Beatles-esque!
  Wed. 12/10/08 5:59pm jan:

I dunno, just saying. didja see the obit in today' times, Dennis Yost, 65, Singer for the Classics IV, Is Dead? original Soft rock
  Wed. 12/10/08 6:01pm me:

I miss Charlie Lewis, but I found out he does a show in Vermont. He posts his playlists here (as well as mp3s of the shows for a limited time): http://beingslowlynowhere.typepad.com/ Definitely worth checking out.
  Wed. 12/10/08 6:12pm Gordon:

Maybe you should run for office in Detroit!
  Fri. 12/12/08 9:45am Howling Rabbit:

I think the reason Charlatans UK are referred to that way is to differentiate them from the not-too-well-known, but influential, The Charlatans, one of the first "psychedelic" bands from San Francisco in the mid-60s.
