  12:44pm marty:

  12:46pm pat radio:

I taught high school back during the "Spuds Mackenzie" days. Kids weren't allowed to wear Spuds shirts to school because they promoted alcohol use.
  12:47pm Ike:

Spuds MacKenzie?! Yeah, when a dog tells me to drink crappy beer, I *always* listen! Psych.
  12:48pm Joe:

It must've worked, as I'm only aware of Spuds Mackenzie through his Futurama parody, Slurms Mackenzie.
  12:49pm GP:

I want a shirt with Spuds on the front, Joe the Camel on the back...those should be a big hit with the PTA
  12:50pm annie:

my kid got kicked out of school for the day when he wore his ghost in the machine tee
  12:51pm pat radio:

a fellow teacher had to point out the penis on joe camel's face to me. I'm not quick with the subliminal messages.
  12:51pm Bad Diane:

Annie - The Police? on what grounds?
  12:51pm uncle lonely:

the police record?!!!
  12:53pm GP:

Pat Radio said what?
  12:53pm annie:

well, it was a logo from an anime film, maybe it was ghost in the shell? anyway it was the top half of a woman's body, no shirt.. just enough to suggest.....
  12:54pm Parq:

If it's Spuds parodies ya like, dig up some of the late 80s exemplars of Bloom County, in which Spuds came out as a girl-dog, shortly after joining the cast of regulars. (Memorable line, to Opus: "Sure you don't wanna beer Otis? Flushes out the system like Ty-D-Bowl.")
  12:55pm dc diane:

nice, you should find one of those boob t-shirts that the Pistols use to wear for him next.
  12:56pm Joe:

We had a similar issue at our high school with retro G.I. Joe t-shirts with guns on them. The admin. wouldn't budge, even after we pointed out that they were laser guns, only used to shoot bad guy robots and drug dealers.
  12:56pm annie:

actually i liked the te very much, the school thought it was porn.. what did they know? dc diane, he is 25 now, old enough to speak out ....
  12:56pm uncle lonely:

aw man! you got any billy and the boingers?!
  12:57pm Bad Ronald:

Check Steve Jones:

  12:57pm dc diane:

then he'd REALLY like one of those shirts..put it on the Xmas list.
  12:57pm pat radio:

GP...Joe Camel's nose is an upside-down wang. http://images.encarta.msn.com/xrefmedia/sharemed/targets/images/pho/0007f/0007fae7.jpg
  12:58pm dc diane:

yep that's what I'm talkin bout. Hey what happened to Bad Diane?
  12:59pm uncle diane:

yea for real, what gives?
  1:00pm Bad Diane:

Was in the loo. Now I'm back!
  1:00pm annie:

that shit used to piss me off to no end. stupid public schools and their twisted morals.
  1:00pm dc lonely:

where do you get one of those boob t-shirts?
  1:02pm Bad Diane:

I wore my "If it Ain't Stiff it Ain't Worth a Fuck" T to piss off the man. It worked.
  1:03pm Doug from DC:

That man. He has no sense of humor.
  1:04pm dc uncle:

that's another good one. That'd probably be grounds for paddling in school.
  1:04pm Cecile:

eh, high school.
I might have to go to an all-class reunion to get a body count out of morbid curiousity next year.
  1:04pm Bad Diane:

Hey Doug! - Great show last night, thanks for playing Sex Toy!
  1:05pm hand shot records vp:

play some hand shot records jams! carcinogenic funk
  1:05pm uncle lonely:

hey diane you maybe should play some body count
  1:05pm dc diane:

Hey dc doug, how'd that show on Friday go? I wanted to get there...but, uh..well...you know...
  1:06pm annie:

and it's okay to promote the violence of football and sexism from cheerleading.. what classism it was..
  1:06pm GP:

pat radio, that is some messed up stuff. I always thought that artwork was terrible, but now I see it is subliminally weird too.
  1:06pm Diane from DC:

That's a fun track Bad Diane! Hope some people were listening.
  1:07pm Joe:

Talking out of turn, that's a paddlin'
Looking out the window, that's a paddlin'
Starin' at my sandals, that's a paddlin'
Paddlin' the school canoe...
oh, you better believe that's a paddlin'
  1:07pm Bad Diane:

Me and Billy from Philly (the lead guit) were!
  1:09pm Doug from DC:

Awesome show. Tim Kaiser's electronics are really brilliantly done. Bent circuits, parts of children's toys and bowed metal instruments with built-in pickups. He has a CD-R release in a 4" film cannister, like the PiL metal box reissue.
  1:09pm uncle lonely:

this diane columbia song is fresh out the toaster!
  1:09pm annie:

doug, i agree, i'm hyped up.. like nixon on drugs
  1:11pm dc diane:

wow, sounds great. That Paul Metzger's stuff is amazing.
  1:13pm Bad Diane:

Anyone check out the new Firemen release "Electric Arguments"? It's actually pretty good. I wonder if Diane Belock will play a track tomorrow...
  1:13pm uncle lonely:

this is a cold move diane berg. don't do this anymore.
  1:13pm Cecile:

I love Paul Metzger, a truly great, unique guy.

OKAY - now I need to hear Cars that Go Boom...
  1:14pm gerardo:

hooola, liiiiiz!, tanto tiempo

tuning back in "real time" at last

("growing pains", i watched this sitcom for a year! - first time i hear the titles song in full)
  1:14pm Diane from DC:

Yeah, the 18 string banjo was something to see, expecially when he bowed it. And his modified guitar is fretless. Both performances were interesting visually as well as musically, just seeing these instruments being played was a trip.
  1:14pm 1mckrs:

This was on TV? Wow. Bad even for TV.
  1:15pm jeremy, the listener:

LB love this show.
  1:15pm dc pat:

I'm w/ u. lonely. My son would love a band called the Firemen.
  1:16pm Cecile:

I saw him when he trotted out the guitar with a hubcap for a resonator. Pretty amazing.
  1:20pm annie:

cecile i checked out and tagged for fun those bands..front porch..liquor pigs and spider john koerner.. what fun they are!! a real hoot.
  1:20pm Cecile:

ok, why does the Bulb label sound familiar to me?

Annie, they are great. I've missed it a couple of years, but they usually play a spring outdoor fest and a great time is had by all.
  1:21pm uncle diane:

  1:21pm annie:

it was obvious from the video that evryone knew everyone.. a great time was had by all.
  1:22pm annie:

hehe,, hey.. i need to get out of the house.. i'm repeating myself and others.. no less.
  1:25pm fishmonkeystew:

Hi Liz!!

Nice Floyd cover. Do they do "Careful With That Axe, Eugene"?
  1:26pm Sid Barrett:

...that's more like it.
  1:27pm Cecile:

oh, hey, Annie, here's the Bouvier dog rescue website:
  1:27pm Bad Diane:

More like Syd...
  1:28pm annie:

thanks cecile. i appreciate that
  1:29pm paulthepostman:

Thanks BR, i appreciate that, too
  1:30pm fishmonkeystew:

Awww, man. This makes me want to hear some Dead Kennedys.
  1:31pm annie:

FMS- 22nd was the anniv.
  1:33pm Bad Diane:

yeah FMS - like "Man With The Dog"!
  1:34pm birdmuzik:

  1:34pm samuel:

just tuned in- any word on when red dawn II plays?
  1:36pm Petri:

Hi, I´ve got the original bass guitar of this great finnish punk band, but is in the pawn shop...
  1:36pm Bad Diane:

That's right Annie - I wrote a thesis once proposing that that was one of the most "Pop" events of our history... or something like that.
  1:38pm annie:

BD- yeah, one of the first to awaken our senses of current events.. relating it to our own reality. i was 11
  1:39pm Joe:

If the JFK assassination was pop... I guess you could call the Ford attempts Punk. High profile, but ultimately a failure.
  1:39pm annie:

joe, word up. yeah
  1:40pm Bad Diane:

I like that Joe! Whattabout Regan?
  1:40pm Petri:

Hi again, I live now in the Tampere, Finland, and this great finnish rock band Eppu Normaali is from here, still kicking..
  1:42pm Joe:

I'm tempted to say hip-hop, because there were a bunch of innocent bystanders. The iraqi attempt on Bush attempt can be post-punk, because it was extremely influential later, but not alot of people knew about it at the time.
  1:44pm Cecile:

Well, I'm biased because I lived at the time and also kind of liked Ford but punk/Ford:
misunderstood at the time, more solid than believed, and its time was far too short.
  1:45pm north guinea hills:

i've been busy at work, and missed everythingdid i hear the awesome color kids were in? if so, here's a big hello and hug for michael and allison!
  1:47pm Joe:

Punk and Ford: Clumsy and fun!
  1:55pm Bad Diane:

Digging GT!!
  1:57pm fishmonkeystew:

Now this is the kind of band I wanna start here in Northeast CT. Anyone interested? Anyone from NE CT even here?
  1:59pm Joe:

CT is a little small to be sectioning up into quadrants, there, Mr. FMS.
  1:59pm GP:

Drums sound great!
  2:00pm dc diane:

yeah that guy/gal is hittin those things.
  2:01pm dc diane:

if DC can be broken up into quadrants, so can CT
  2:05pm detroitdave:

Hi Liz, hey if these cats are playin live at the studio, can we see em somehow??
  2:06pm pat radio:

I should know this but who did "Fire Engine" originally?
  2:07pm Liz B.:

GT have a ton of videos on their myspace page :
  2:07pm dc diane:

13th Floor Elevators
  2:08pm pat radio:

  2:11pm m:

  2:19pm Clarence:

  2:19pm GP:

  2:21pm gerardo:

Long live Dr. T & the EM!
  2:21pm Bad Diane:

I like Ty Segal!
  2:22pm Doug from Planet Diane:

Gotta go, but if you're in DC tonight, come by Velvet Lounge (915 U St NW). Ambient/drone music tonight with Northern Valentine (Philadelphia drone-rock), Pacific Before Tiger (NC electroacoustic), and My Empty Phantom (audiovisual, from Austin), and Field Shaman (cello/guitar w/loops, electronics, weird vocals from DC).
  2:22pm dc diane:

me too Bad Di
  2:23pm dc diane:

diane doug, could you babysit my kids tonight?
  2:23pm GP:

I think this is the best show of yours that I have heard in the short time that I have been listening.
  2:25pm djmama:

you outdid yourself today Liz! awesome show!
  2:28pm detroitdave:

YEAH, Parts and Labor.........WOOOO HOOOO!
  2:31pm dc diane:

YEAH, Pre!. This is MY kind of music...
  2:32pm Bad Diane:

Speaking of woo hoo where's Diane Daily at?
  2:33pm Li'l bobby:

Wow....you are a grate american.I will name first child after golden triangle...and you.
  2:35pm fishmonkeystew:

As a long time CT resident, I can assure you that the four corners of CT are so different from each other that there is no option but to divvy it up into pieces.
  2:35pm dc diane:

I was wondering about ol' Diane earlier

Man, Diane Berg, don't you have anything harder?
  2:38pm marty:

tell wolfy to play something scary!
  2:40pm Carl:

Allison rules!
  2:44pm Joe:

This would be a great song to sing if one were getting stabbed to death.
  2:45pm fatagaga:

  2:57pm ?:

  2:58pm Brian C.:

  3:01pm GP:

10-4 on that Brian. she indeed did.
  9:07pm gertie bucket:

i hear set the controls for the heart of the sun. and i never even did acid.
