Live set by Kal – a scintillating Belgrade band mixing Roma (Gypsy) and non-Roma musicians that’s very of-the-moment and original yet steeped in Roma and East European musical traditions. Plus an interview with Dragan Ristic of Kal with Sani Rifati of Voice of Roma.

Kal sings traditional Roma favorites but also contemporary songs about the Roma’s social and political challenges facing discrimination and other obstacles in Europe.

Kal is playing Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette St. on Sunday Oct 19 at 9:30pm and a benefit organized by the partisan human rights organization, the International Action Center at the Solidarity Center, 55 West 17th St, #5C: on Monday Oct 20 at 7pm.
