Artist Track Album Label Comments Special

Set 1: the old radio show portion of the evening. (Listen to this set: Pop-up)
The Haunting Hour  Murder Wears A Strange Mask   Favoriting Originally broadcast sometime from 1944 - 1946 - probably 1945.  (no label)  We don't know what year it was originally aired, the exact date of the show, or even who was in any of the episodes -- no records were ever kept.

This episode: an innocent couple goes to a masquerade ball -- where Death just happens to be a guest.

Woman: "Oooooh, you must be a real magician!"
Death: "Yes, madam, I'm a successful stockbroker -- same thing."

Mic break between Sets 1 & 2. Background music played during it: (Listen to this set: Pop-up)
Les Chakachas  Love is like a Violin (track 4)   Favoriting Arriba!  RCA International  Phat, sentimental sound. Feels like it's the slow song at the record hop.

Set 2: inside the temple of Terry Riley: live at Theatre Edouard VII 10 November 1978. (Listen to this set: Pop-up)
Terry Riley  (untitled) (track 1) (Listen: Pop-up)   Favoriting The Last Camel In Paris  Elision Fields  We hear the entire live concert - a live interpretation / reinterpretation of his work Sri Camel. Notes apply to the entire work: quiet start, then gradually gets under way and we find we're inside the temple of Terry Riley...stately and warmly trance-like, even psychedelic, best at low to moderate volume.

A good write-up is found here.
