Gosh!! Remember the video for this Utopia song? You'd have thought they were really bugs.
  8:13pm
john:

Thank you for rescuing Utopia from prog Purgatory Loved that album!

They WEREN'T bugs?
  8:13pm
Dan:

Hey I love your show most weeks
  8:17pm

  8:21pm
david from ks:

  8:34pm
john:

Dennis Wilson's most beautiful song?
  8:40pm
pseu:

sorry 'bout the druggy slow sound on this, I forgot to adjust the tt -- oh well, makes it looonnnggggerrr!
  8:46pm
toni daytona:

whats up pseu?? just to let you know last saturday was my 27th b-day,,keep on rockin!!!!!=)=)=)
  8:56pm
john:

well, I've already commented twice, but I had kind of a sucky week myself, between illness and breaking up with a girl i barely realized i was dating, but I did listen to your premium CD today and the sun shone bright green and the sky glowed pink for a moment.
  8:56pm
trouble:

it is a conspiracy pseu, the lack of pop in the library, why it's the greeeat anti-pop conspiracy...you know it!
  8:57pm
pseu:

oooohhh, one of those "barely realized I was dating" things... John, c'mon -- she dug you. You must feel like a total heel!
  8:58pm
pseu:

TROUBZ!
RILLY! It's like I was ready to cry. Like that girl commenter John broke up with...
  9:03pm
john:

No tears! Actually, she told me "I adore you but I can't see you any more." I thought both halves of the inconsistency were a bit extreme really, but there were a few others as well. Curious really, as we'd only known each other a few weeks.. Gee, I'll try not to make you like me next time, maybe we can get married. Must be my overwhelming personal magnetism or something.
  9:06pm
pseu:

I've fallen hard, John...
  9:13pm
john:

Pseu, I understand. I tried to talk her through it, honest. Written verification available upon request and twenty-five cent deposit. More I suggested we step back and take a deep breath and try to move forward, the more the heels dug in. She had the gall to close by telling me she hoped I'd get the woman I deserved. I ignored the self-absorbed manipulative bits and suggested to her that I thought that was exactly what I thought I had done. If she fell at all, she fell soft. Such is life. We go through lots of it scared s##tless of success and it's nearly impossible to talk someone out of talking themselves out of something. Onward and sideways. TMI, folks? Apologies if so.
  9:16pm
pseu:

are you kidding? You totally left out the best part!
  9:18pm
john:

You want the self-absorbed manipulative bits? I didn't want to make her look like the bad guy. We are who we are, sometimes.
  9:19pm
trouble:

sorry kids but we have strict rules from the FCC as to the amount of commentary that can be devoted to break-up language, and unfortunately we have reached our limit. Look out for increased levels in 2009...
  9:21pm
john:

Trouble, it's OK. I bribed the Commissioners. The great advantage of a venial administration.

Pseu, there as has yet been no post-breakup sex. Folks, keep those cards and letters coming!
  9:26pm
Ike:

John, where do you meet women anyway? I can't even find a woman to break up with me. I don't like alcohol, so bars are out.

I had expected to have this figured out by this age.
  9:28pm
john:

Canadian ultimate fighting: two really friendly guys apologizing each other into a bloody pulp.

Ike, this week I wish I had your problem. Or that I drank.
  9:33pm
Ike:

My problem gets old fast.
  9:34pm
sugarwolf:

"She had the gall to close by telling me she hoped I'd get the woman I deserved."

is that in a nice way or a THREAT?
  9:35pm
john:

Sugarwolf,

Yes.
  9:35pm
sugarwolf:

Pseu, I got yr premium yesterday & all those Messer Chups CDs I won. Will listen soon.
  9:36pm
pseu:

John, thank god you're not Canadian. Then we'd have a problem -- reverse stalking I'd call it.
  9:39pm
john:

Pseu, funny you say that. Not that I'm Canadian, but I've been pretty well stalked a couple times about ten years ago and it was suggested that I was being something of an enabler. Fixed that problem but quick--three years of hang-up phone calls are a great spur to action.
  9:42pm
Adam:

Hey, I'm from Melbourne, Australia and we have some amazing community radio, but none that let you comment while you listen: very cool!
  9:43pm
john:

Great show, by the way. Digging the proto-Badfinger big time.
  9:58pm
pseu:

John, will you ever find it in your heart to forgive me for the next band and song I will play?
  9:58pm
john:

You are forgiven in advance. How could I ever hold anything against you? Honestly...
  10:01pm
john:

Oh my.
  10:02pm
dave:

god help me, i found myself tapping my foot and nodding my head to this hoobastank song.

i will carry this secret shame to my grave.
  10:04pm
pseu:

Apparently I'm all about secret shame. *sigh*
  10:05pm
sugarwolf:

oh wow, Blur, talk about secret shame
  10:05pm
dave:

paradoxically, that's something to be proud of.
  10:06pm
john:

As long as we're clear that she's the one who hit me over the head with the croquet mallet, I'm cool. No more than a flesh wound anyway. Besides, I already wrote the lyric about this situation, roughly three years before I met her.

Also, you're now playing the one truly great Blur song now, so all would be forgiven anyway. You're no less wonderful than ever.
  10:07pm
Dan:

Oof.
  10:18pm
molerat:

Croquet mallet to head > post-breakup sex

Yes, Hoobastank was ep'ic in its own way, I guess...
  10:19pm
john:

Somehow I managed to get the mallet, but not the post-breakup etc, possibly because we're broken up. What am I doing wrong here?
  10:19pm
bartleby:

Did somebody Say "evil reptile?"
  10:22pm
Andres:

1990something, I'm looking for my Blur and their ilk and everytime single time I go in the store this guy is not shutting up to everybody about Mr. Bungle.

On the other hand Epic is an EPIC track. I think it even has a hook, no?
  10:25pm
john:

I love this record nearly as much as the game itself. Doesn't this song have a very similar melody in the verse as The Beach Boys' Add Some Music?
  10:41pm
Ken from Hyde Park:

In case anyone wants to watch the sun set on Old Faithful ... http://www.nps.gov/PWR/customcf/apps/stream/stream.htm?parkcode=yell

Lovely show tonight, by the way.
  10:50pm
Gregory:

Greetings from Fell's Point. Very groovy show. I remember seeing Half Japanese at The Marble Bar. We did The Kennedys when I worked at the 8 x 10 in the 80's. Enjoy the BJMassacre. See ya in two weeks.
  10:52pm
pseu:

thanks, G.
  10:58pm
john:

pseu, thanks for the great show and the ongoing dialogue. If nothing else, kept your attention with the week's events. Hope not to be able to do quite the same thing in two weeks!
  10:59pm
john:

Actually, I really was a French major, and I think she said "schtupping," rather than "boning."
