Listener comments!

  9:13am
GUMBY:

Good Morning Hatch et al. Love those drunken swagger Faces songs. Gotta get that collection.
  9:13am
Bad Ronald:

Mornin'
  9:15am
C:

Anyone else hear the Faces reunion rumor?
  9:20am
Bad Ronald:

Yeah, on Joe b's show last week...
  9:31am
dei xhrist:

quiet morning today... I just caught the bit about the guy with the band's name tattooed on his hand, but not the context. What a bad fashion decision.
  9:32am
Hatch:

I was describing the Betty album cover.
  9:49am
Swami:

Gadzooks! This is Pyha is an awesome accompaniment to my third cuppa joe! Thanks Hatch!
  9:50am
Cubicle Carl:

...and like a good cup of joe, Pyah will clean out your system.
  9:52am
Swami:

Yes. Moves the mail, so to speak.
  10:00am
barney:

coincidentally, i am waiting for aquarius to mail my copy of the pyha album. I hope it cleans out my house, too.
  10:03am
dc pat:

I dunno, I think the point with the New Yorker pic was to bring to light all the bullshit stereotypes that right wingers were throwing at Obama. Maybe I'm wrong but...
  10:14am
Listener Dave from NH:

It's not that you're wrong, it's that it's satire on the level of "Meet the Spartans" at best.
  10:16am
Hatch:

Maybe if it was funny or clever in any way it would work as satire.
  10:17am
dc pat:

Right, not saying it worked, just thinking about the intent.
  10:20am
Cubicle Carl:

I'm hearing " If I Were a Rich Man"
  10:21am
Cubicle Carl:

No, it's actually "Tradition"
  10:22am
fishmonkeystew:

yarrrrgggg! Good morning Hatch! I'm digging the Johnny Osbourne tune. A friend of mine has a band named Truth and Rights. Coincidence?
  10:28am
jason:

you speak of "cool kids beach"?
  10:29am
SueB:

too many trendy white people clone-monsters!!!!
  10:33am
esch oder anarchie!:

OK fine all you hipper-than-hipsters but i like bikeable beaches with hipsters and surf so what was that concession-less beach called that you deplored so?
  10:33am
helpful counselor:

Why don't you get a job that pays better?
  10:34am
SueB:

Driving over 60mph wastes gas. Drive slow to burn most efficiently.
  10:34am
pfapfap:

The best way not to use gas is to stop driving, or to share rides. Are there casual carpools up there? Look on craigslist for people headed your way. Amtrak. Greyhound.
  10:37am
Hatch:

The beach is Breezy Point down at Fort Tilden. I don't know if I would call it "bikeable," but people do apparently ride all the way out there. It's actually pretty nice, but the scene is weirdly like McCarren Park transported to the beach,
  10:38am
fung wah:

I'm still a $15 ride to Boston.
  10:39am
C:

For free stuff ideas, you should check out David Byrne's "Playing the Building" installation on the dock. It's really cool and interactive.

There's a ton of free stuff in DC: almost all the museums and then random events. If you're around on a Friday, you might want to stop by the sculpture garden for free jazz and BYOB.
  10:40am
dc pat:

the embassies have some good free stuff too sometimes.
  10:41am
jason:

take norstrand or utica to flatbush, turn left, then follow flatbush till it ends. you will pass a lobster house, a golf course, an abandoned airport and two bridges. after the second bridge take a right, then a quick left into breezy point. go all the way back to the left for the beach entrance. have fun.
ps before flatbush ends stop at the gas station for cheap beer
  10:43am
GUMBY:

Free stuff to do:
Mix up a garbage can of blue whales, invite over your anarchist friends and plan on how to best overthrow the government without using any fossil fuels.
  10:46am
Parq:

Free stuff here in NYC includes Christian Fennesz and Ryuichi Sakamoto tonight at 9 at the World Financial Center. I'm afraid I agree with those who say the best way to save money on gas is to not join the horde of Americans who feel they have to go everywhere in single-occupant cars.
  10:47am
Your Car:

Sell me.
  10:47am
esch oder anarchie!:

Thanks Hatch & Jason for the directions to Breezy Point. I will proceed as instructed.
  10:50am
Hatch:

I don't own a car, for the record. I have one on loan. If I sold it, I would be in deep trouble. And I don't drive it anywhere without at least one passenger, unless I'm just moving it on alternate side days.
  10:54am
jason:

sorry i meant "back to the right"
any way will get you there
the ride is about 10 miles and takes a bit over an hour
tho the ride is nice and you can usually stop on the way for some west indian meal-in-a-glass super smoothie action.
ps
everyone bitches about cars until they need one
  10:58am
dei x:

Americans don't like to share their precious moving storage space. I've been trying to find a ride buddy through rideshare and a few other places, no luck. NH Dave, if only you weren't already coastal! I bet WFMUers make the best ride partners and are scintillating conversationalists.
  11:01am
dei x:

too bad we're all flatulent because of the sourdough and the cannibalism.
  11:03am
Kyle:

I hope a chunk of her nail didn't land in the bread!
  11:03am
Carmichael:

Great, Dei X. Now I'm starving ....
  11:12am
GUMBY:

sourdough and cannibalism? Who knew? I thought it was beans & beer. Speaking of red beans, do you have any Professor Longhair Hatch? I could sure use some fess to get me through this report on the wonders of gravity sanitary sewers.
  11:31am
GUMBY:

steel drums & horns Muy Fantastico!!!
  11:52am
barney:

what happens when crom-tech gets old?
  11:53am
Hatch:

I guess this???
  11:56am
barney:

Slower and lower suits me better (I think) now that I'm older too.
