Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

LOVE this version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (and thought it way cool that it is forever immortalized in the first "Kill Bill" movie!)
  11:17pm
slugluv1313:

shimmy shimmy . . . KICK!

Jessica:

Did you see the NYT's real live roundup of ye olde dogge and ponye show, featuring The Cat [from Red Dwarf, aka Morris Day]? "The Time singer was so pleased with his shiny gold jacket and oversize sunglasses that he had a mirror brought out." Oh for shame. snark-irony = doing it wrong. (The bit has been excised from the article online. But it made me look. )
  12:02am
Pete:

EFD

For the Vivien Goldman song, I think Keith Levine was the guitar player on this track.
  12:06am
JM:

Not to be a buzzkill about an otherwise fine show, but I think you keep dropping the right channel (at least online). Makes oddly mixed music sound odder...
  12:09am
efd:

hi JM, i think it's a particular turntable although i only noticed it just now on the cause commotion song. i'll keep an eye on that, thanks for mentioning it.
  12:13am
KC:

These Are Powers need to get down to Philadelphia again! Tell them I'll clean out my basement if the'll play!
  12:29am
JM:

I said I didn't want to be buzz kill -- Let 'em rip on just the left channel! Someone else will fix it later, right (no pun intended)? I'm already over it.
BTW: I'm in Seattle doing taxes, I'll be with you till the end.
  12:33am
efd:

thanks JM... if i could put it in mono then maybe i'd do that, but i actually think it sounds too weird to just have it in one channel. don't worry, if anything it's the turntable that's killing (or giving birth to) the buzz, not you.
KC - good to hear from you!
  12:47am
Jessica:

Over the three day openning, 111 theaters each had 29 people pay to see that bit of cinema. Go figure.

I heart that new Dan Melchior single.
  12:57am
efd:

and I guess none of those 3,219 people are listening right now.
  1:29am
Ike:

Wasn't it more like 2,400,000 people? If we're talking about the same pile of crud. And no, none of them are listening.
  1:29am
JM:

The purple orchid is cute. I'm gonna write her a note during study hall. I think the black/pink/blond girl has to go to the bathroom.
Kudos for Sonic Sum.
  1:32am
Jessica:

$76 per location on opening day, per box office reports.
  1:33am
Jessica:

[...and a half-box of kleenex™.]
  1:34am
efd:

i wonder if that means i could have paid a theater $77 *not* to show it...?
  1:36am
KC:

Always, always! Japanther's been down here recently...Heard it was an epic show. I must say that I miss the NYC area, but only a little! Thanks for playin 'em!
  1:41am
COBRA:

this blood sweat and tears joint was hot
  1:55am
Jessica:

  8:38pm
