Every show starts with a cut from the ‘70s: Rediscovering the forgotten rockers, revisiting the once-hated disco beats, replaying the power-pop favorites. Next: copious amounts of new releases and occasional live bands. Also: I’m the biggest Nick Gilder fan on WFMU.

  Wed. 7/11/07 2:33am (mta) Tony:

When I arrived home a little while ago, I checked my mail before taking the elevator up. Opening a package revealed a CD I bought last week, "England's Glory." I walked in the door, started the computer and popped the disc in the player. Something was wrong. MusicMatch Jukebox was playing "City of Fun" but I hadn't yet switched over to the CD player yet. By default, my player plays the fmu audio stream. So switching back and forth between the File and the CD, the same song was playing, so I was sure something went screwey, after all, how can fmu be playing the SAME SONG AT THE SAME TIME that I'm playing? Well, that's what was going on and it truly blew my mind. A million songs to choose from, and we're playing the same song at the same time. I thought I was still tripping from the '70's!

Re Rubinoos vs Avril vs Stones... I think the handclaps are why the Lavigne version sounds so much like the Rubinoos version. Probably not close enough to count in court. Maybe it's an homage?

Anyway, the best part is the comment war on YouTube.

Re: The article in Der Spiegel

Perhaps the witticisms are funnier in German. Most things are.
