Listener comments!

  6:53pm andre goode:

when was the last time you played don pullen, if not recent, then give the drummer some
  10:48pm Doug:

Andre,
The only answer I could ever give you is not recent enough. Typically when I get a "How come you don't play XXX more often, I wince and feel ashamed. There is so much desperately vital music and musicians to cover and my 180 minutes a week are so precious. To cover the entire globe of sounds and soundmakers is a heartbreaking enterprise because someone is always going to be left out. What I'd really like to do is climb to the top of the Empire State Building and scream the name Don Pullen into the wind until every man, woman and child has heard his music. It seems criminal to me that have could have gone almost exactly a year without having played Don Pullen. (The answer to your question is June 16, 2006.) The best part of having a weekly show, though, is that next week's show is always just around the corner. Listen for a Pullen selection then.

Best to you and your family,
Doug
