Listener comments!

BillyTheMountain:

Last week you played another great song by The Macs. Usually I have no trouble finding the lyrics, but not to this song. Where can I find the lyrics to a song by The Macs, called "I'm 37"

first line is: I'm 37 years old today. And I work in a grocery store.

Scott:

Hey BTM, glad you dug that song - and yeah, it's really bored its way into my consciousness too -- i think they call it a "chestnut", or maybe a "precious nugget". In any case, I'm sorry to say I've likewise been unable to learn much about The Macs or about that song - though the lyrics seem to be mostly intelligible, feel free to listen to it over and over on last week's archive!

Emily:

This song is so good! Great Premium! I can't tell what that line/refrain is, but this is what I could hear:

I'm 37 years old today and I work at a grocery store,
that stays open for 24 hours - I work from 6 to 2 at night

People come in and purchase things
like cases of beers and magazines
what they do i wouldn't know
but they always seem to have a place to go

[?maybe i've seen you?]

I work weekends but that's ok cause i take my time and i get paid
i use to go home right when im thru
because i dont have much else to do

on my days off I might go downtown
and see a film, i'll just walk around
i usually go to movies by myself
but if i wanted to I would bring someone else

[?maybe i'll bring you?]

I'm 37 years old today and I work at a grocery store,
that stays open for 24 hours - I work from 6 to 2 at night

People come in and purchase things
like cases of beers and magazines
what they do i wouldn't know
but they always seem to have a place to go

[?maybe i'll be you?]

**i'd love to hear more by The Macs, if you have any.
Thanks!
