Listener comments!

  11:58pm Peter:

Hola. Trying to give a listen to the Isis tune "Backlit" from today's playlist with the VLC media player gives the following error (which seems to indicate a bad http: formatting string? not sure):

access_http error: error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not found with those parameters
access_http error: seek failed
ffmpeg error: av_find_stream_info failed
ps error: cannot peek
main error: no suitable demux module for `http/://archive.wfmu.org:5555/archive/kdb/mp3jump.mp3/2:05:14/0/HT/ht070212.mp3'
  12:30am Kenzo:

Peter,

I'm not sure why that's happening for you. I am able to get the song to play using VLC, and in fact it shows up using a non-broken URL, unlike the one you've quoted in that error message.

Are you able to use VLC to play other songs, or other shows?

Perhaps we should talk about this via email, not Mike's playlist!

  1:41am Katherine Zavartkay:

greetings, Mike!

great to hear DALEK, woo hoo!

and thanks again for the info on where-to-find the Getatchew Mekuria/The Ex album . . .

by the way, are you familiar with the all-female ISIS from the early 1970s? (i have their LP, on the cover of which they are nude but covered with SILVER)

i loved reading your blog about trying to find a place to live in NYC . . . i counted it once (maybe too afraid to do it again!) but i moved something like TWELVE times in FOUR years . . . probably explains *why* i have been in the same Hoboken apartment since . . . yikes, 1982! (ooooo, feelin' OLD!)

okay gran-ma has to hit the proverbial hay,

-- kathy z.

p. s. -- hey! i think i was AT that Delta 5 show!!!!!!!! (oooooo feelin' even OLDER) (now where did i put that GERITOL?!?)
  2:29am Kenzo:

I don't want you all left hanging in suspense...Peter and I are communicating by email, and I'm on the case! Keep watching Mike's playlist to see how it turns out!

  11:57am Kenzo:

OK, you can all stop reloading Mike's Feb. 12 playlist every day, eager to see how this drama resolved!

The problem that VLC and Foobar2000 were occasionally experiencing with MP3 timestamp links has been resolved.

Thanks again to Peter for the report, and to Mike for hosting this tech forum on his playlist page.

- Kenzo
  11:59am Mike Lupica:

Thanks Kenzo for fixing this, and thanks Peter for illumiating the difficulty in the first place. Allez!
