its actually quite complex what’s going on in the recording which is impossible to decipher from your album post….someone recording “infidels” as if it was the letterman performance.. without prior knowledge of daniel romano…. for instance it’s easy to think dan romano’s outfit was a psuedonym that dylan and plugz were using

When the esteemed photographer Herb Greene died recently, The New York Times did a splendid overview of his work with commentary by him. He photographed Led Zeppelin on their first U.S. tour in 1969. Apparently, this took place in The Portero Theater, which The Grateful Dead were using at the time for a practice space. The Dead showed up at the photo session and Pigpen allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot up the theater seats, which spooked Zep so bad, they ran away without paying Mr. Greene!

I think the term weapons hippies was coined with them in mind.

there's a reeeeaaaalllly slow version of comes a time from the capital theatre from the early 70s that was broadcast over wnew-fm in the late 70s, which i recorded onto 8-track tape. it was the first version i'd ever heard, and still my favorite.
