At our garden's peak, we had tomatoes climbing up to ten feet on a bamboo trellis. Good, good tomatoes, but that fecundity has been lost to some kind of fungus.


All we can manage now is a few cherry tomatoes.

This city is known as The Big Tomato. We also had a cannery (Contadina) for decades until they sold it off. I regularly see tomatoes on the side of the road at freeway turnoffs, as the big trucks are hurrying to market.
