Thankfully I never had alchohol issues, I was clean for a while, but then since I’ve turned 21, I drank more, at max I usually have 1 can of hard lemonade which is usually 5% alchohol, just can’t bring myself to drink too much, it puts me to sleep

I’m just getting started digging deeper into the world of oldies myself! WFMU and especially Kitschy Mama have been a great resource in my education, the local “oldies” station when I was a kid rarely played anything older than 1964, until I discovered the Am oldies station that played 50s, I still learn new to me 60s songs on that station but not as much as I do on here!
Avatar 👹 3:29pm
Ellen:

↳ Bri The Beatnik @3:25
We're in the same boat. I've been introduced to lots of things, but I never had much of a framework to hang it on: it was always "Learn this for tonight," rather than "Understand where this came from."
Avatar 3:31pm
Bri The Beatnik:

↳ Ellen @3:29
Ah yeah. I’m lucky I discovered my school library’s music section. Some of their music history books are interesting, but I think a lot of them are geared more towards actual musicians which is fine but I’m not that much of a musician, just a massive music lover

Yeah the used to be oldies station is now a classic hits 70s-early 00s, (I know I felt old when I started hearing hip hop and Linkin Park on there) I thought the Am oldies station dropped 60s in favor of 70s/80s but they brought 60s back, thankful for that as it’s probably the only station around me that plays 60s regularly
