Le Chiffre Organ-ization  Degustation   Favoriting Illustration  Soundflat  2025  Illustration is the sophomore record of Montpellier, France-based Hammond-driven band Le Chiffre Organ-ization, wrapped in a sleeve that is as stylish as their music. Expect a sonic celebration of energetic grooves and danceable nostalgia: this is a tribute to library music, film soundtracks and British mod music from the 60s—a mix of jazz, funk, psych and soul, played with garage rock intensity. Alain Jullian aka Billy Coog aka Mr. Le Chiffre (organ), Alain Chapot aka Number 9 (bass), Eric Pouchet aka Eric Damod (guitar) and Alexandre Besson (drums) deliver eleven new instrumental tunes, including covers of Be My Lady (Booker T. & The MG’s) and Magic Mirror (Aphrodite’s Child), then they close the album with that one vocal track, Degustation, which is as exciting as it gets.  *   0:01:56 (Pop-up)
Fabienne Delsol & the Bristols  Hanging on a String   Favoriting Best Of  Damaged Goods  2006  Attracted to the British music scene of the time, Fabienne moved to London in 1996, almost immediately joining the Bristols, a then studio project consisting of Liam Watson and Ed Deegan, two producer-engineers at Toerag Studios. Fabienne had never really sung before but after Liam’s proposition for an audition and knowing that his taste in music was so perfectly matching hers, she was determined to give it a go. The first single ‘Questions I Can’t Answer’ was recorded in a couple of hours, the first vocal take being used on the record that came out the same year on a Damaged Goods 7”. The Bristols were by then willing to make the most of it and in order to play live and tour decided to form a full line up, including members of the Headcoats, Kaisers and Cee Bee Beaumont.    0:03:53 (Pop-up)
Thee U.F.O.  Junk Funk Garage   Favoriting Beaming a Moments Reflection  Gelatinous Records  2024  Experimental Psych Rock duo from Dublin Ireland; formed in 2019. consisting of Darragh Hansard & Elizabeth Doyle "A slap in the face for those hopeless, who continue to stimulate themselves with technologies idols. Ouzo Bazooka  Seeds   Favoriting Single  Batov Records  2025  Ouzo Bazooka enchant on Kapaim, drawing listeners through a maze of hypnotic, head-snapping grooves, cosmic string bending, and swirling guitar explorations. As trailblazers of the new Middle Eastern psychedelia movement, the band fuse traditional folk sounds with gritty soul, funk, and rock. Their latest release is a testament to their boundary-pushing spirit, offering a soundscape that is both otherworldly and deeply rooted. An otherworldly intro gives way to a tight bass-and-funk groove reminiscent of Bob James’ heavily sampled “Nautilus” on “Seed”, before Kinrot makes a rare vocal appearance, imagining himself as a seed at the centre of the universe.  *   0:09:01 (Pop-up)
Elle Barbara  Operating Thetan: Unknown   Favoriting Single  house of barbara  02025  Guaranteed the most fascinating song from the most fascinating artist. Meet Montreal's Elle Barbara... a Montréal-based avant-garde singer-songwriter, song selector (TS Ellise), pinup, speaker, writer, director, curator, performance artist and intervention worker whose musical output combines elements of soul, psychedelia, jazz, and underground. A lover of the odd, dark, or overlooked elements in pop music, Elle rose from artist-run spaces at the turn of the 2010s and has seen their work soar to enduring acclaim. In recent years, Elle Barbara‘s has centred efforts around trans and queer community organizing, including contributions in Montréal’s emerging ballroom scene as the Iconic Mother of the Idiosyncratic Meta House of Barbara. The House of Barbara, in addition to throwing balls, is a collective whose transdisciplinary practice encompasses performance, activism and DJing. Elle’s current musical incarnation (Elle Barbara’s Black Space) aims to centre intersectional Blackness and reject anti-Black tropes within the city’s art and music spaces.  *   0:13:04 (Pop-up)
Meow Meow and the Smackouts  F.O.M.O.   Favoriting A Decent Punch/FOMO  Self Releaed  2025  Released earlier this year, a l'il bit of Kleenex post punk with some surprising punk attitude. The wind chimes are everything in this song. If you love lo-fi, quirkiness with fast tempos, and a scrappy, spontaneous vibe and 70s stripped-down punk sound, you’ll love Sydney band Meow Meow and the Smackouts! All I need to know to love this band is the following: Sydney and..What’s one of your favourite albums of all-time? LEE: In The Studio by The Special AKA and Rhoda Dakar—I love the fusion of funk and soul (with a bit of ska/reggae sprinkled in), and Rhoda Dakar’s vocals are so hypnotising, especially in the opening track ‘Bright Lights’. PATTY: Smile Sessions Beach Boys The fusion of accessible writing with avant-garde techniques. CHARLIE: London Calling by The Clash—the songs go hard. CAM: The Lethal Weapons compilation, because it reminds me of my Dad. SEB: Crazy For You by Best Coast—I used to listen to it on school holidays in high school. It made me feel like the holidays lasted forever. It’s a very lovesick album, but also fun and beach-y.    0:16:48 (Pop-up)
Why Bother?  Inside the Medium   Favoriting You Are Part of the Experiment  Feel It  2025  Do you ever wonder- What's the long term effect from eating fake ultra processed food in a box? Why are young and old people getting sicker and weaker in the mind and body every year? What if we have all been lied to by governments, religious leaders, science and industry about our biology and the history of human kind? What if you are so tainted by indoctrination that you feel more comfortable being lied to then told the truth? Before you know it you start thinking to yourself.. why bother at all? Well maybe it's because .......YOU ARE PART OF THE EXPERIMENT.  *   0:19:04 (Pop-up)
Butthole Surfers  Hey   Favoriting Butthole Surfers + PCPPEP  Alternative Tentacles  1983  Buttholes have a new live album out "Live at the Leather Fly". I opted for the studio version because it captures a laid back vibe that better suits my current mood. That being said..."Few bands have embodied chaos as eloquently or as viscerally as Butthole Surfers. Formed in the early ’80s by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary in San Antonio, they surfed a molten wave of acid-fried punk, performance art, noise freakouts, and dadaist humor into a legacy that still feels totally untouchable." ‘Live at the Leather Fly,’ out May 9 via Sunset Blvd., really captures them at their most wild and unpredictable. The recording, long buried and of dubious origin, seems less like a document and more like a hallucination: 21 tracks of completely off-the-rails psych-punk, warped through the band’s twisted Texas lens. - It's Psychedelic Mag    0:22:26 (Pop-up)

Deerhoof  Ha, Ha Ha Ha, Haa   Favoriting Noble and Godlike in Ruin  Joyful Noise Recordings  2025  "Noble and Godlike in Ruin is the twentieth studio album by American experimental rock band Deerhoof. The album was self-produced by the band. The album title is taken from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, reflecting the band's concept of "our low-budget, DIY Frankenstein: A sensitive, spurned, intelligent, dehumanized creature made out of people", described by drummer Greg Saunier. The album cover depicts a stitched collage of the band members' faces, reflecting this idea of a "Deerhoofstein". ///////// "Konstantinos Pappis, in his review for Our Culture Mag, describes the album as "humanly messy in a way that feels defiant" and "rather lovely". Drawing inspiration from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Pappis highlights the album's sensitivity, which resonates through its "mechanical" and "monstrous" sounds." https://deerhoof.bandcamp.com/  *   0:37:06 (Pop-up)
AUS!Funkt  Seconds Minutes Hours Weeks   Favoriting Rewire The Damage  Disco Devil  2025  AUS!Funkt are from Montreal, Québec & describe themselves as "an electro-art-punk/austere-disco concept." //////// Of the album: "A jagged mirror of post-digital existence, Rewire The Damage fractures time into cryptic pulses, dadaist decrees, and bruised dancefloor mantras. With tracks like Let The Shadows Fall, Zéro Zéro Un, and I'm Not Sorry: Jozzef Skving’s Cautionary Tale, AUS!Funkt stitches together an austere electro-punk collage that grooves with menace and thinks in human algorithms. It’s a record where Le Choc Est Brutal, perfection is declared then dismantled (C’est Parfait!), and time itself glitches (Seconds Minutes Hours Weeks). Brutalist, groovy, and conceptually raw—this is punk for the wired and weary, disco for the dismantled." https://ausfunkt.bandcamp.com/  *   0:40:49 (Pop-up)
YHWH Nailgun  Sickle Walk   Favoriting 45 Pounds  AD93/Many Hats  2025  From an album released March 21. According to 'The Fader' --- "YHWH Nailgun, the New York-four piece making some of the most tense and exciting rock music in North America, announced their debut album. 45 Pounds via AD93/Many Hats, and its new single "Sickle Walk"... ...For newcomers and existing heads alike, "Sickle Walk" is a prime cut of YHWH Nailgun at the peak of their powers. Zack Borzone sings like he's got a sleep paralysis demon on his chest, sputtering and wheezing with a rhythm and tenor that merges Playboi Carti with a David Lynch villain. His presence is made more visceral by the surrounding instrumentation, a disembowelling of post-punk and jazz traditions that at once has the energy of an abandoned house and a furnace on the verge of explosion." ||||||||||||||||||||| Video by Rich Smith & Zack Borzone ||||||||||||||||||||| YHWH Nailgun - Sickle Walk (Official Video)  *   0:45:46 (Pop-up)
Mien  Counterbalance   Favoriting MIIEN  Fuzz Club Records  2025  "Psych-rock supergroup MIEN return with their second album and delve into an exploration that engulfs the listener in sounds that are altogether modern and classic, connecting decades of psychedelia through interwoven beats and sonics. ///////// Clipping, pulsating, grooving over motorik beats as an organ floats, hypnotic vocals calling out, MIEN, the psych (whisper it) supergroup made up of members of The Black Angels, Elephant Stone, The Earlies, and Golden Stone Arkestra, kick off their new album with the kosmiche blend that is Evil People. Grabbing you by the stoned and swirled pupils, it pulls you down and into their groove, one that is nee-impossible to resist. “You and I, we belong together.” United in rhythm, this is the stuff of MGMT-meets-Kraftwerk-meets-desertpsych dreams. And we’re hooked from the start. //////// Out of it, and straight into Counterbalance, they play on Rishi Dhir’s wonderful sitar skills, the balance found in the programmed backdrop and Alex Maas‘ ghostly vocals pushed to the fore, slowly decaying and drifting off into the ether. It’s his pulsing bassline that keeps things going through Silent Golden, a rhythmic urge that throbs over Robb Kidd’s ever-present, ever-tight drums, the constant in the haze that binds these neo-psych journeymen together. The addition of John Mark Lapham’s electronics makes for a sudden paranoid explosion, one that comes drifting out the other side and into calming technicolour, slowly petering out through chimes and wistful meditations. The track encapsulates all sides of the band, each playing to their strengths to bring something special and elevate one another." https://mien.bandcamp.com/  *   0:47:20 (Pop-up)

After four albums of extra-dimensional exploration, Hooveriii delivered “Manhunter” with the controls set directly for the heart of the cosmic groove. Population II  La Trippance   Favoriting Maintenant Jamais  Bonsound  2025  Released March 28, 2025. --- As per Pitchfork's Stuart Berman: "The Montreal trio’s mix of prog excess and punk attitude landed its 2020 debut on John Dwyer’s Castle Face label. On LP no. 3, the group hones its songwriting while honoring its exploratory instincts. //////// Population II tick all the boxes for a proper prog-rock act. They can easily fill an entire album side with a single track. Their drummer is also their lead singer. The guitarist and bassist double as synth players. And they hail from Quebec, historically the proggiest of all Canadian provinces. But approached from a different vantage, the Montreal trio is also a prototypical garage-rock band, fueled by maniacal energy, blistering fuzz, and a belief in raw power over precision. Their collision of prog excess and punk attitude made them a perfect fit for John Dwyer’s Castle Face label, which released Population II’s first proper album, À la Ô Terre, in 2020. But like Ty Segall and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard before them, Population II used their early Castle Face connection as a springboard to launch themselves on their own unpredictable trajectory. //////// With their third album, Maintenant Jamais, Population II confront an existential quandary: Are you still a prog band if all your songs are under five minutes? “We tried to make our songs catchier,” drummer-vocalist Pierre-Luc Gratton recently admitted to Montreal’s Le Devoir. “For this album, we wondered how to play these strange notes without sounding like we spend our lives on Quebec-prog discussion forums.” But where ’70s forebears like Pink Floyd and Rush shrewdly compartmentalized their multi-sectional suites and radio-friendly singles, Population II delight in blurring the line between artful ambition and untamed abandon. Produced with Marie Davidson associate Dominic Vanchesteing, Maintenant Jamais foregrounds sharper melodies, lusher textures, and tighter grooves, but retains the fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants philosophy that guided the band’s previous voyages to the heart of the sun." https://population2.bandcamp.com/  *   0:57:24 (Pop-up)

I'm listening to a gr8 album right now, for instance, have you heard this one? I know, brilliant isn't it! I only had the record before but now i've got the cd, i really think it hath come into it's sic own. About 3 months before The rebel asked me - his manager - to write this press release, my latest wife ejected me from the flat and so I have been in the enviable position that every 40 something man - Hey! Chain and the Gang  Mums the Word   Favoriting Best of Crime Rock  In the Red  2017  Everything Ian Svenonius does is good. Let's just all admit that. Ian Svenonius’ is at once one of rock’s shrewdest intellectuals and one of its most primal performers. But there’s no dissonance between those two modes—the ideas of the former fuel the physicality of the latter. Since surfacing with D.C. post-hardcore heroes Nation of Ulysses a quarter-century ago, Svenonius has fronted several different bands—from gospel-ye-ye purveyors the Make-Up to the frisky psych-funk crew The Scene Creamers—but they’ve all been rooted in the late-'60s belief in rock ‘n’ roll as an agent of radicalism, and in the potential for a three-minute single to instantly make you question and dismantle everything you’ve ever known. - Pitchfork gets it Right.    1:14:34 (Pop-up)
Myles Manley  I Heard Your Mum Call, Michael   Favoriting Cometh the Softies  Witter On  2020  Myles Manley is a singer, songwriter and musician from Sligo, Ireland. He has released an album 'Greatest Hits 2012-2013', an EP 'More Songs' (2015) and several singles to critical acclaim. These releases have been accompanied by fantastical music videos made in collaboration with filmmakers such as Bob Gallagher, Seamus Hanly and Michael Higgins, which situate Myles Manley somewhere between enigmatic popstar and outsider folk artist. Naked In English Class  Pogo Dancing   Favoriting Selfing  Self Released  2018  NAKED in ENGLISH CLASS are Olifr M. Guz and Taranja Wu. From 2015 to 2019 they produced and performed their music together. As the music they both wanted to hear didn't exist, they were forced to compose it themselves. It's all about madness, bees, rockets, cars and our everyday mistakes. Their two voices sound like ABBA lost in hell, accompanied by Bo Diddley on a rusty synthesizer. Whirlwind Heat  Umbrella People   Favoriting Types of Wood  Brill Records  2005  Whirlwind Heat was a three-piece band from the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Although they are avid genre-hoppers, they are often categorized as indie rock. The band was formed in 1996 by synthesizer-player/vocalist David James Swanson, bassist Steve Damstra, and drummer Brad Holland, all sixteen years old at the time. Asbestos Salesman  Seaside - Slop Version   Favoriting Post Sludge Post British Post Slop  Asbestos Bastard Records  2025  Guys I really fucking love this band. Snotty, desperate, they even ruin a nice day at the sea menacing with their indie aloofness. Bonus points for anything beach or sea related, always. Asbestos Salesman (previously a solo project) discovered its new post-sludge, post-britain, post-slop sound in 2023, when Jess Siggins began collaborating with Joshua Hixson. Based in the UK, in the coastal city of Southend-on-Sea, the pair began producing a collection of new asbestos-laden tracks, with their sights first set on a 2024 EP release, with a full album to follow in 2025.\n\nThis led to the discovery of the isle of pigs, a land lacking in promise, but bountiful in its overflowing dumpsters, grim characters, and seedy alleyways. Golden light can be seen shining out of the windows of its few remaining glamorous buildings, onto the faces of a filthy and helplessly confused populace. To this day, the duo can be found lingering down by the troughs - feasting on slop and ladelling new ideas into a big box of asbestos.    1:28:45 (Pop-up)

McClusky  Cops and Coppers   Favoriting The World Is Still Here And So Are We  Ipecac Recordings  2025  "The World Is Still Here and So Are We is the fourth studio album by British post-hardcore band Mclusky. It was released on 9 May 2025, by Ipecac Recordings." /////// According to Glide Magazine: "Very few things stay consistent over twenty years. Within two decades, children will become adults, world leaders will trade positions, and pop culture will experience many trends. A wise man once said that life’s only constants were death and taxes, but on May 9, a third consistency is added to the short list. Mclusky, the post-hardcore titans, have lain dormant since the release of their 2004 LP, leaving behind three incredible punk LPs that positioned the band as one of the next great hopes for the genre. Now, twenty years since we last heard from them, Mclusky releases The World Is Still Here and So Are We, a fantastically aggressive and intricately crafted set of 13 hardcore pieces of punk with urgent messaging, cartoonish vocals, and a head-spinning veteran presence. ///////// Mclusky’s latest incarnation features founding member Andrew Falkous, longstanding drummer Jack Egglestone, and bassist Damien Sayell, who joined the band when their resurgence started in 2014. While The World Is Still Here and So Are We marks the triumphant return of Mclusky, this album is more than the band’s past. This is simply and purely refreshing punk from a band who knows the genre as well as anybody, and sure, the band’s legacy and tireless years of honing their sound play an undeniable role, but it should not be the primary focus. Mclusky sounds fresh and innovative even as they craft an album, not for the sake of cashing in the currency of nostalgia but to unleash the ideas that the band has stored for nearly two decades" https://mcluskymclusky.bandcamp.com/  *   1:40:41 (Pop-up)

Crass  Rocky Eyes (Jazz Remake)   Favoriting Yes Sir, I Will (Crassical Collection) [Volume 2]  Crass  1983 / 2002 / 2020  "Yes Sir, I Will is the fifth album by anarcho-punk band Crass. Released in March 1983, the album is a virulent attack on then-Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Margaret Thatcher and her government in the aftermath of the Falklands War and was set nearly wholly over a raging and an almost free-form improvised backing provided by the group's musicians. //////// Many of the lyrics from this album are extracted from Penny Rimbaud's extended poem Rocky Eyed. The original vinyl release presented the contents as one long piece split over both sides with no banding between songs, making it the longest punk rock song ever recorded..." ///////// "A film made by Crass member Gee Vaucher to accompany Yes Sir, I Will was shown at the UK National Film Theatre's Stuff the Jubilee festival of punk films in 2002, and the track was remixed in 2002 by Rimbaud to incorporate additional jazz instrumentation provided by Ingrid Laubrock (saxophone) and Julian Siegel (double bass) to augment the original performance. ///////// The Crassical Collection version of this release, including new artwork by Vaucher, remastered sound and liner notes by Steve Ignorant and Rimbaud, was released on May 17, 2011. The reissue also contains a second disc (entitled Why Don't You Fuck Off?), which has Rimbaud's 2002 remix of the album, featuring Laubrock and Seigal. No track titles appeared on the original versions of the album; however, the Crassical Collection edition gave the tracks titles." https://crass.bandcamp.com/    1:47:48 (Pop-up)
Chime Oblivion  The Fiend   Favoriting Chime Oblivion  Deathgod Recorfds  2025  Released on April 18th via Deathgod. //////// New John Dwyer project featuring Dave Barbarossa (Adam & The Ants, Bow Wow Wow, Fine Young Cannibals), Weasel Walter (Flying Luttenbachers, Lydia Lunch's Retrovirus), Tom Dolas (Osees, Mr Elevator), H.L. Nelly (Naked Lights, FKA SMILEY) & Brad Caulkins (Bent Arcana, Witch Egg) //////// CHIME OBLIVION began out of the blue. David Barbarossa reached out to John Dwyer saying he was a fan of OSEES and he was invited to a show in London. The two hung out and hit it off, "then I rabbit holed on Bow wow wow too…," Dwyer recalls. "I reached out to David and suggested that we try and write some songs together... I flew David out, we met at my studio and spent five days writing basin drums ideas." The two got to know each other and had a lot of laughs. /////// Dwyer then brought in Weasel Walter, knowing that he would be perfect "to add all that legitimate old-school weird proto-punk no wave guitar scratch to it, which of course he did masterfully." Next came Tom Dolas to play fuzzy marimba, and the fabulous H.L. Nelly, "as I knew her from a record I’d put out back in the day for a band called Naked Lights from Oakland. I knew that she could pull off the vocal style I had in mind." ///////// Together, the group created their debut self-titled album. ///////// "For fans of Adam & the Ants, Bow Wow Wow, Crass, The Slits, and any other wierdo punk we fell in love with as youths.""  *   1:52:15 (Pop-up)
The Fall  Fiery Jack   Favoriting Singles Live: Vol.1 '78-'81  POPSTOCK / Bella Union  2025  Low-fi-ish, but gritty, wired & fantastic... An epic workout of the A-side favourite. //////// "Spanning nine tracks, Singles Live Vol One 1978-81 was curated by former The Fall members Paul Hanley, Steve Hanley, Marc Riley and Craig Scanlon and will be released via the Popstock label they established to put out archival live recordings by the band. The four former members of the group launched the imprint and series of releases amid frustration at a lack of recognition, consultation and compensation by other labels putting out reissues and compilation of the band’s work. //////// The material featured on Singles Live Vol One 1978-81 begins with the live lineup of The Fall that recorded debut album Live At The Witch Trials, and ends with the lineup that made seminal LP Hex Enduction Hour. The compilation... ...released digitally and on vinyl, with the physical edition... ...includ[ing] a booklet containing sleeve notes written by Jarvis Cocker. //////// In the notes, Cocker writes: “This record brings back those days of inspiration and exhilaration. I know these songs by heart even though I never bought a Fall single back then; John Peel always played The Fall releases so I taped them off the radio. Sorry. I’m sure you’re familiar with them too. But to hear them live, in the heat of the moment, really brings back the spirit of The Fall. The giddiness and excitement. The palpable hunger to find something new to sing about and believe in. This music never gets old.”" https://bellaunion.bandcamp.com/album/singles-live-vol-1-78-81  *   1:53:53 (Pop-up)

Real Farmer  Once More   Favoriting RF II  Strap Originals  2025  Uneasy listening from DIY art punk outliers. Real Farmer released their acclaimed debut album Compare What's There last year and picked up airplay from the likes of BBC Radio One’s Jack Saunders, BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Apple Music 1’s Matt Wilkinson. The band were clocking up the miles on the dashboard last year, too, having toured the length of the UK twice. Starting at some of the UK’s most treasured small independent venues and ending with a run of shows with the Libertines, who they probably blew off the stage, lol.  *   2:14:28 (Pop-up)
Pozi  Ash Can   Favoriting PZ I  PRAH Recordings  2019  One of the most enigmatic and interesting bands out there...Pozi are the sort of band to tackle the creative cycle of deconstruction and rebuilding with relish. The trio of Toby Burroughs, Rosa Brook, and Tom Jones quickly established something of a foundational template on that first album: a hyper-skeletal sound palette of drums, bass and three distinct vocals disrupted by Rosa’s churning violins, from which emerged biting social observations and political angst. These hallmarks haven’t fully gone away over time, but from that urgent energy there has emerged greater confidence and a playful desire to push further out from the loose genre tag of post-punk they were initially saddled with. “It’s not our goal to totally embrace and restrict ourselves within a genre.” Tom says...    2:18:08 (Pop-up)
Batbait  How Did My Apartment Get So Expensive?   Favoriting Single  Irascible Records  2025  For Real. Batbait are from Zurich. stirring garage-rock from zürich since april 2019 ♥ Sandra Keller guitar, vocals Simona Bischof bass Gianna Brühwiler guitar, vocals Alanah Rüttimann drums The Zurich- based band manage to convey the feeling that it is normal not to be in control of everything. Lifeguard  Under Your Reach   Favoriting Single  Matador Records  2025  Mmm. Most satisfying jangly gazy postpunk. I am reminded of the Holograms, who also did this chugging with heart wrenching unexpected chord changes brilliantly. Ripped and Torn on June 6. The youthful trio of Asher Case, Isaac Lowenstein, and Kai Slater have been making music together since they were in high school, nearly a quarter of their lives. Noisy and immediate, cryptic but heartfelt, they draw inspiration from punk, dub, power-pop and experimental sounds, and bring them all together in explosive inspiration. On Ripped and Torn, the barbed-wire sound frames Slater and Case’s newly rich two-part harmonies and collagiste lyrics. Producer Randy Randall (No Age) captures a claustrophobic scrappiness that conjures the feeling and energy of the house parties and live shows, where ears are easily overwhelmed, and ragged improvisations connect with the same force as melodic hooks. The band remains a singular and intimate space where freedom, noise, and melody find visceral form. “The physical element is something we’re all very together on,” explains Slater. “The immediacy of making music. The instant pleasure and satisfaction of it.”  *   2:21:47 (Pop-up)
CDSM  Not Another Bleeder   Favoriting Single  Self Released  2025  LOVING. You can't go wrong with synth and sax! CSDM a.k.a. Celebrity Death Slot Machine is a “freakout post-punk group” (FLOOD Magazine) based in Atlanta, GA. Their stylish sonic onslaught is anchored around dancey rhythms, atypical synthesizer work, timely saxophone growls, as well as goth rock-esque melodies that serve to recount bizarre humor-laden tales from a derelict parallel universe.    2:25:37 (Pop-up)
Lars Finberg  Alone Alas   Favoriting Moonlight Over Bakersfield  In The Red Records  2017  Lars Finberg of The Intelligence is a genius, let's just get that out of the way. And if that means panning the entire mix to the right speaker for an entire verse and letting you think that there's something wrong with your stereo, great. For too many years to count Lars Finberg has been a fixture in the underground music scene. From drum basher in the A-Frames and Thee Oh Sees to secret weapon in Wounded Lion to the driving force behind The Intelligence and Puberty - his whirlwind presence has been a reliable one; that of an artist that people look for and look toward. With that it is with great pride and excitement that In The Red announces Lars’ debut solo offering, Moonlight Over Bakersfield. Followers of Finberg’s recording history will immediately detect a plume of confidence around Moonlight Over Bakersfield, an air that each successive offering has inched toward but now, at long last, has taken full bloom. For the uninitiated this is an excellent place to start.    2:29:05 (Pop-up)
TV Girl, George Clanton, PYNKIE  I'm Not Real   Favoriting Fauxlennium  Blissful Serenity  2025  This tune is like a time machine back to the glory days of hiphop and I am so ready for more. On Fauxllennium, legendary vaporwave artist George Clanton and indie pop group TV Girl team up, creating a fun, relaxed, and atmospheric record that is soaked in reverb-drenched nostalgia. While some longtime fans seem to be somewhat let down by this change in sound from previous records, others like myself definitely do appreciate the more slick production around those little gems of raw sounds that remain from earlier tunes.  *   2:32:42 (Pop-up)

Anika  One Way Ticket   Favoriting Abyss  Sacred Bones  2025  Released April 4. ---- Bandcamp info: Anika (Sacred Bones, Invada, Stones Throw, Liquid Milk) a.k.a Annika Henderson is a hybrid artist. The former journalist made a name for herself in the electronic music scene, with her experimental sound collages, confrontational texts and unique way of performing live solo. She interweaves dub, post-punk, and psychedelic with shadows of dnb and a strong emphasis on the voice. ////// Anika channels her frustration, anger, and confusion with the world into her third album, Abyss. //////// Recorded live to tape at Berlin's legendary Hansa Studios, the album captures raw energy with minimal overdubs, resulting in a visceral and urgent 10-track journey fueled by intense emotions. The recording process, done in just a few days with a live band, emphasizes immediacy, offering a sound that’s both physical and direct." https://anika.bandcamp.com/  *   2:42:06 (Pop-up)

Coffin Prick will open for Cap’n Jazz on select dates this July (full tour dates listed below) and there will be an album listening party on May 8 at Estuario in Highland Park. //////// “Have you ever wondered why you do what you do, when yr doing it? How much does that memory cost you? Meandering thoughts on the value of cheap ‘n easy entertainment, the weight of caustic writing, and checking out of the un-compartmentalized tornado of digital ideas I feel I’m corrupted by as I prepare for a potential E-rapture. Flushing that out and making a tune. Except it’s snappy and you can dance to it.” -Coffin Prick ////////////// Coffin Prick primarily records on his own, though occasionally receives great collaborative assistance from a sometimes-silent and shadowy partner, Pancho. When the time is right, he leans on a host of harmonically sympathetic luminaries that exist in and out of his immediate musical community, including Steven Brown (Tuxedomoon), Alejandro Salazar-Dyer (Rincs), Kathy Lea (Soft Location), John Herndon (Tortoise), and Aaron Fernandez Olson (LA Takedown). /////////////// Track List 01 Follow You Where You’re Talking // 02 Shortly Forgotten Pleasure // 03 Loose Enchantment // 04 Exile In Exile // 05 Work (feat. Man Made Hill  Trophy Shop   Favoriting Delicious Logo  Telephone Explosion  2025  "Growing up in a distant region of Planet Ontario, young Randy Gagne found himself fascinated by a man-made hill running alongside a busy road, built to filter out the din of the local traffic. This hill, an organic but also strangely unnatural feature of the landscape, was the genesis of the project’s namesake, and it’s fertilized a rich creative terrain on which Gagne has ploughed 20+ DIY solo albums of lo-fi homegrown weirdness. //////// "Delicious Logo", the result of two years of close collaboration, marks Gagne’s second foray into a professional studio setting with Jeremy Greenspan (Junior Boys, Jessy Lanza) behind the mixing board. Building upon their 2022 joint effort - "Mirage Repair" (Orange Milk Records), this latest heap of miniature fantasies finds the pair widening their scope of sonic surveillance, and galvanizing their off-kilter pop sensibilities into a bewildering prismatic smorgasbord. //////// This time around, the two set no deadlines and naturally deepened their creative relationship, working hard at a pleasurable pace to boil down and fully digest the sound of Man Made Hill, creating a uniquely mystifying transmission beyond time that leaves the listener wondering when they came in. The tantalizing atmosphere offers a tsunami windfall of sleazy synth pop, jagged funk, and sinister existential disco that veers in and out of comprehension. And despite all of this madness, it adds up to Man Made Hill’s most flat-out crowd-pleasing album to date, without sacrificing one single iota of the weird post-pop edge you crave!"  *   2:50:12 (Pop-up)
New Chance  Twice Bitten   Favoriting A Rock Unsteady  We Are Time  2025  From Victoria Cheong's (New Chance) own newsletter... "Happy Spring! It has been an *actual* entire year since my last newsletter. I guess it was a slow news year hehe. I was working on this new record for a lot of it and I am writing mostly to tell you about that record and also that there is a release show booked to celebrate in Toronto. /////////// The record is called A Rock Unsteady and it releases May 23rd on We Are Time. The songs were written largely during covid lockdown era. I was deep into mythology, astrology, and my own personal journeying. The record is mostly about the fertility of unsteady ground, about ways of knowing that are felt in darkness - that place where all new things begin. I guess it is about creative force, in general, the wild wandering places where things generate and transform. It is also literary, an alternate world I built to express interior processes, where pain could be beautiful but like, in a healthy way. It kind of traces that slithering line between pain and pleasure. The erotic contradictions. The tensions of living... /////////// Now come all the mixed feelings of excitement and doubt, and the uncertainty continues as it releases into an uncertain world. In any case, I hope that it gives you something. I made it for myself and for you too. /////////// There are a lot of people to thank for helping this record come into being. I will start here with Chandra and Ryan - from the record label. They absolutely made this possible and have been solidly supportive and excited. I also want to *special thank* Johnny Spence for helping with so many things along the way including production and playing, ideas and images, and love and encouragement. Thanks to Isla Craig for the above photo of me on the rocks, the island times ever-changing, and our grounding friendship. Also thank you Jean deMers who did the cover and singles illustrations that are so perfectly evocative. //////////// Thank you all for your support! ///// more thanks soon... ///// XOX //// Vic ||||||||||| https://newchance.bandcamp.com/  *   2:55:25 (Pop-up)
