dday:
Thanks for your indulgence.
Say hi to her, she's on my left.
Happy Birthday Tomorrow, My Love.
Word Salad #8
I awake, My Love.
It’s five A.M.
Involuntary tears fall like acid rain down my cheeks.
It’s your Birthday weekend.
I should be loving this time of year but I find myself hating my very existence…without you.
I so looked forward to celebrating your day since we met.
I tried to make every day special for you, not just your birthday.
You’d say “I adore you.”
No one ever said that to me before you.
Big hugs & kisses in the morning.
I made you coffee & a breakfast of your choosing.
Or maybe off to the Village Diner if you wish.
A silly gift for you even though you always said “I don’t need anything but you.”
Still I found something just to see that smile light up your lovely face.
A Monkees Thermos, a Laurel Burch Cats handbag, a ceramic mugs, pitcher & coasters set of the same, art supplies.
She loved Burch’s style and use of color. Many other gifts to follow.
Simple pleasures.
It’s what she was about and what we both treasured.
One year I bought her a trio of silver bracelets with the words “Life Is Grand, Love is Real, Beauty Is Everything" inscribed, one on each bracelet. Words from Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, friends from AZ.
She loved the gift and the music.
She wore them to every show or art event we would attend…together, inseparable.
I said "since we’ll probably never marry, this can be your wedding ring.”
We both had bad marriages before so why ruin a good thing with legal papers, we both agreed on that.
She cried tears of joy and smiled that big beautiful smile.
I kissed her cheek.
Then towards evening, a nice dinner at her favorite Mexican restaurant, a ride in my convertible, top down if the weather permitted, of course. Her in her floppy garden hat and sunglasses, raven hair flying in the breeze. She was so happy.
Then home to be in each other’s arms until the morning.
Now…gone.
My birthday is later this month and it’s tearing me apart.
Missing her more each day.
We talked about everything.
Early on while dating, I mentioned how I loved the use of strings in some rock music.
And so the CD "Peter Gabriel with The New Blood Orchestra” appeared for me and I was so happy.
I cried listening to the songs and the orchestral arrangements, her beside me.
But now only the cats sit at my feet and look up and cry along with me.
We all miss you so...
So listen…
www.youtube.com...
And read:
The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures
And instructions for dancing
But I
I love it when you read to me
And you
You can read me anything
The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it's just transcendental
Some of it's just really dumb
But I
I love it when you sing to me
And you
You can sing me anything
The book of love is long and boring
And written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we're all too young to know
But I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
And I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
You ought to give me wedding rings
dday.
