	7:33pm Dean: Van Halen played the high school that, later, my wife attended. Suburbs of LA.
	7:38pm Dean: A week or so ago I heard the instrumental portion of a metal track on the local college station on the car radio as I headed to the neighborhood coffee shop. I didn't hear the back-announce before I went in for the coffee. I told the barista--we regularly talk music--that the station was playing some nuts metal tune that sounded like Steve Vai, but was kinda off kilter. Later I went home and checked the online playlist: it was Vai backing DLR.
	7:40pm DJ Alex Kish: ↳ Dean @7:33 wow a heavy metal show at a high school. that probably wouldnt happen these days.
	7:41pm Dean: I saw The Dogs (originally from Detroit, now LA) at the same high school auditorium.
	7:58pm Mr Fab: Yeah, we never had any entertainment come to our high school. Just the talent show – we had to provide the entertainment ourselves.
	8:02pm Dean: No love for Ian Gillan?
	8:11pm Dean: I saw Metallica with Mustaine at The Whisky. opening for Saxon. Had no idea who they were. They were (at that time) killer.

	8:22pm Dean: I have, DJ Alex! But that's because I was born at just the right time for some of them, too late for others, too early for still others.
	8:26pm Dean: I remember this Rods album, at least from the cover! It arrived at a time when punk and pub rock, rock 'n' roll and metal, were all cross-pollinating.
	8:31pm Dean: This isn't a Teddy Roosevelt allusion, is it?
	8:33pm Dean: If Rush is metal, is Angel metal?
	8:34pm Dean: Anything by Jethro Tull. Disliked as a kid/young adult. Now I admire. I don't think I'll ever get Rush, but I do love DJ Cummerbund's "YY Milk."
	8:35pm Dean: Alice in Chains...good point. I don't like them, but I dig Velvet Revolver.
	8:46pm Dean: I attribute my distaste for Ironmaiden and Queensrÿche to my having been born to early. It's that simple. Scorpions at their best? First album. "Speedy's Coming."
