Greets all. For the past few days I would periodically hear what I swear sounded like a kettle whistling in my apartment, to the point where I was gaslighting myself into running into the kitchen, fearing that maybe I had put up some water for tea and just blanked out on it. Finally made the connection -- something is wonky with the riser valve for the steam heat pipe in my bathroom. Unfortunately the high pitch also means that after every little bump, a few of the dogs in my building go absolutely nuts for about 2 minutes. Sigh. Onward to more soothing sounds.

Like all the Super[X] and Sugar[X] bands, ... There were so many with similar names, and the bad ones spoiled the good ones for me, in a world where I couldn't listen before buying. And there weren't yet WFMU online playlists.

@Scott: Hot idea for the TrakTor:
I tried slowing the tempo of ABBA's "Voulez-Vous" with Audacity - didn't achieve the effect I thought would happen. But when I slowed the *speed* by 50% (pitch and tempo), stretching it to double the length, 1979's "Voulez-Vous" sounds like something from Pink Floyd's "The Wall" of the same year! Try it, great potential in that ABBA track! 🙂
