might be interesting to see live. Not particularly "enjoyable" perhaps. But maybe worth seeing as a source of amusing anecdotes for years: "You'll never believe what I once saw..."

Mr Fab:

Ah yes, LA public access. I recall:
-Dancing Francine, an older kinda chubby woman who just shimmied to music in a skimpy outfit.
-Sabrina, of the Church of the Most-High Goddess, who talked about having sex with over 3000 men (for religious purposes, dontcha know)
-of course David Leibe Hart and his Junior Christian Bible Puppet Show, or whatever it was called

You'd think YouTube would be providing an infinite amount of public-access style lunacy. So where is it?
Avatar 7:21pm

i saw a nude wedding on NYC cable access once (during the '80s of course).

WP: In an interview, when Hicks was asked why he had quit smoking, he answered, "I just wanted to see if Denis would, too."

Leary was in Montreal hosting the "Nasty Show" at Club Soda, and Colleen [McGarr?] was coordinating the talent, so she stood backstage and overheard Leary doing material incredibly similar to old Hicks riffs, including his perennial Jim Fixx joke: "Keith Richards outlived Jim Fixx, the runner and health nut. The plot thickens." When Leary came offstage, Colleen, more stunned than angry, said, "Hey, you know that's Bill Hicks' material! Do you know that's his material?" Leary stood there, stared at her without saying a word, and briskly left the dressing room.

Hi-ho, Don-O!
Missed out on Esquivel & Combustible Edison, but made it in time for Spike (Torturous on the ear! Not exactly in top form in that performance. The riots after the Rodney King verdict: to my mind, justified. But the abuse to Denny, unacceptable.

I was working in downtown LA that day. Had to catch so-called rapid transit, public transportation, to get home. Buses were not running, even in the east end of LA County where I lived. I saw absolutely nothing suggesting there were "riots." TV fucks up our access to reliable information.

The Rodney King verdict riots provided craploads of comedy material for everyone from stand-up comics to talk show hosts and sketch comedy shows (In Living Color, in particular, where they mocked King's infamous press conference quote "Can't we all just get along?" and milked it to death).
