Good Hello! This should be fun...

Hi, Austin! Thanks for being here. Had a stressful weekend. Old laptop was giving up the ghost. I had anticipated that in December and bought a laptop. Took all day Sunday to set up and get situated with streaming and stuff. Whew!

Oh my! Computer woes are the worst, as we depend on them so much now. I need to get my laptop repaired, but I have other tools to use for the time being.

I just learned there is a statue of Frank Sidebottom in Timperley England and it is wonderfully unsettling looking
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm
Krys O.:

Howdy, Joe! Yes, I've heard about that. Frank Sidebottom 4 ever!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:05pm
Austin Rich:

I always forget about Frank Sidebottom, until I see / hear him, and then I'm like, "Oh, yeah! I should investigate more."

I saw a bit of the Frank movie with Michael Fassbender. That is a fictional dramatization, but it was riveting.

I was curious about it when it was first making the rounds, and then... I just keep forgetting. There's too many things to look at.

I believe the original riff was on an early Billy Joel album, but I think X-Static sort of has the same vibe.

Hey Krys!
Gotta say, Tracey Ullman was killin it on that cover of "Life is a Rock."

She was great in John Water's "A Dirty Shame," too.

The Prelinger Archives on Archive.org. I edited it down from 18 or 20 minutes in length.

Yeah , they sound like they were on fire playing live. Which they promptly quit doing for some tragic reason.

I'm not a nerd for all of their stuff, but occasionally... they really hit the spot. Especially that Dukes of Stratosphear stuff.

Avatar 8:45pm
Mr Fab:

↳ Krys O. @8:40
Wow, didn't know that.

I wonder if he's over it by now. it's tough for musicians to make money just from record sales nowadays, everyone's gotta tour so they can charge 50 bazillion dollars for a ticket.

I remember last year or so , the oriignal drummer was leading a band called something like Ex-TC.

A lotta water under the bridge. Not playing live really helped the healing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm

Terry Chambers actually hooked up with Colin Moulding. Oddly enough years ago, Andy Patridge and Barry Andrews who was on the first two albums formed a band called Monstrance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
joe:

↳ Mr Fab @8:45
It seems he has not only given up touring but as of 2022 given up writing music as well
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Mr Fab @8:45
Even playing shows can be rough, unless you are a recognized name that can demand the high ticket prices that people will still pay. All of my tours lost money. I don't regret them, and I had a blast, but it was certainly hard to play to no one a few shows in a row.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
Krys O.:

↳ Mr Fab @8:46
It was called TC&I.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:49pm

I have a soft spot for Robert Gordon. He's sort of corny at times, but I'm cool with that.

Andy has suffered from tinnitus for a long time too.

Jealous! How cool is that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm

I recommend seeing Kathryn Bigelow's movie The Loveless for Robert Gordon's terrific performance. It also starred Willem Dafoe.
