And so it came to pass that a most compelling testimonial of Webb's superior lamps was issued all across the land; yet, Webb's business continued to languish, for the recipients had only their pitiful and useless existing lamps by which to read the testimonials and, unable to discern the contents of the testimonial, failed to seek out the improved source of light. And while the female sex continued to suffer in darkness, never benefiting by Mr. Webb and his glowing achievement, Mr. Webb succumbed to a deep despair and died alone and penniless.

"Saving the planet" actually means, primarily, "making sure the planet remains habitable for humans (and others)". The planet doesn't actually care if we or any other organism survives, but we care, or most of us do, or should. Why isn't it our job to save the planet? If it's not our job, whose is it?

Their song "Shadow Cabinet" is even more of that vibe, if ya dig. "Ancient History" I believe also has the 80s electric guitar brooding feel.

Btw, compliments on you "Dick Beale" moment on your show this past Monday! Always enjoy a good rant on the dismal, deplorable state of tech & the Surveillance State!

I second the Jane Olivor shout-out! And Irene Kral! Karla Bonoff, too.

A weekly show on Pacifica's KPFA here in Berkeley features Wolf, at the very least for the theme song, "Across the Great Divide."
