Starting the chat over

uptownjen:

Still here!❤️
Avatar 8:05pm
Erica:

Sorry Andrew.
Avatar 8:06pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

Glad it's back and taken care of! Too Much In Love - an all-time favorite, a slice of perfect blue-eyed Northern Soul. :)

Natalie:

I just missed the end of the funny story. This is what I get for stepping away....
Avatar 8:06pm
Erica:

Glad the chat room is back.

is it not possible to ban a singular a-hole like the insult-to-Paul Robeson guy?
it is on the main and the drummer stream
Avatar 8:07pm
sw2442:

Sorry about that Andrew...
  8:07pm
Javilu:

What happened to the chat? Did I miss something?
Avatar 8:07pm
cometothesunshine:

@coel will deal with that at another time - thank you
Avatar 8:08pm
cometothesunshine:

@Natalie you missed very little
Avatar 8:08pm
Ross66:

That’s a drag. Why come on and be a jerk like that.
Avatar 8:10pm
Natalie:

I'm sure there will be other tales to be told and enjoyed.
Avatar 8:10pm
Erica:

Seriously though if you're curious about what someone does for a living to get to know them better that's one thing, but don't ask how much they make. That makes people uncomfortable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
coelacanth∅:

Ross, he's a perpetual jerk. he's arrogant and doesn't mind his own business -his m.o.
he doesn't know or care what a jerk he is.
Avatar 8:11pm
Ross66:

Hope he doesn’t wind up on BPN
  8:12pm
Eli Miller:

Andrew, do you think this unreleased album will ever be released and made public or these singles off of Deram be on a well put compilation?
Avatar 8:12pm
cometothesunshine:

Back to the music - I first bought a copy of this song in Greenwich Village at a store - it was CDR bootleg, but I was thrilled. A year later, the CDR erased itself!
Avatar 8:13pm
Natalie:

I clearly missed some things. Sorry I engaged.

But I'm here for Denny Laine!
  8:13pm
Javilu:

That is why I hate CDRs Andrew. You cannot trust them.
Weird that Denny Laine being so famous there is no legit release on CD
Avatar 8:13pm
cometothesunshine:

@Eli I had hoped that Phil Smee was on the trail of getting this music out at one point. Not sure which tapes UMG has left.
Avatar 8:13pm
Ross66:

Did the CDR get wet, Andrew?
Avatar 8:14pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

I reached out to Cherry Red around a year ago, asking if there was any possibility or interest in doing a Denny CD for all this material, seeing as he was so cooperative with them for the Moodies set. I was told they were investigating it, but wasn't sure if there was enough public demand to invest into producing it.
Avatar 8:14pm
Natalie:

I didn't realize CDRs could do that. I had better transfer all mine!
Avatar 8:14pm
cometothesunshine:

No, it was one of many CDRs that kinda went blank
Avatar 8:15pm
cometothesunshine:

Well, as I revealed in 2006, there is a lot of Songs from 1967 to be rescued.
Avatar 8:15pm
Ross66:

Hmm…I wonder why they erased?
Avatar 8:16pm
cometothesunshine:

Tonight I am playing even more than on the original show
Avatar 8:16pm
cometothesunshine:

@Ross - it happens depending on the recorder and media - it is not always a permanent format
  8:17pm
Javilu:

Cherry Red released CDs of artists way more obscure than Denny. Weird they think it would not sell.
Avatar 8:17pm
sw2442:

That is super weird Andrew...I have CD-R's I made a little over 20 years ago...and they still play perfectly...very peculiar...
Avatar 8:18pm
cometothesunshine:

You didn't buy them in a dodgy shop! I was surprised to find a Denny Laine bootleg!
Avatar 8:19pm
Ross66:

I’d love to have these tracks reissued!
Avatar 8:19pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

That was my thinking too, Javilu. Even if it was a relatively short disc (such as their Kippington Lodge CD), just to collate the 'main' recordings in one place would be a blessing for us devotees!
Avatar 8:21pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

Once met a fella at a collector event selling 'rare & hard to find CDs' - they were all CD-Rs, but were great discs with rare stuff from many groups. Got several of the Move and Hollies with material I've still never heard elsewhere!
  8:21pm
Javilu:

Brinley, I agree with you 100%
I hace dozens of RPM, Cherry Red, Esoteric and Grapefruit CDs and most are probably selling less than this Denny Laine material if ever released
  8:23pm
uptownjen:

Ooh. This is a cool song.
Avatar 8:23pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

Never heard this track in stereo - wow!!
  8:24pm
uptownjen:

Ha. My cat Buddy doesn’t appreciate Denny hitting those high notes.
Avatar 8:25pm
Natalie:

Jen, that's funny. One of my cats just exited the room
  8:26pm
uptownjen:

Ha. Bud just perked right up and made a weird face about three different times during that one song.
Avatar 8:27pm
cometothesunshine:

Denny had some unique vocal stylings
Avatar 8:27pm
Natalie:

Not feline friendly
  8:27pm
Eli Miller:

Dang after the Moody's Denny sure loved to go for those high notes lol. But if you got it and wanna go for it, I say hit it!
Avatar 8:28pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

This one definitely has some early Bowie qualities to it
Avatar 8:29pm
cometothesunshine:

@Natalie maybe speaking their language and saying things that shouldn't be said at a volume?
Avatar 8:30pm
Ross66:

Sounds like Bowie’s early PYE or Deram stuff
  8:32pm
Carmelita:

@Ross66 and @BritishInvasionBrinley yes I agree about the early Bowie comparison.
Avatar 8:32pm
Natalie:

Fair point! I thought I was reasonably fluent in cat, but perhaps Denny has something on me.
Avatar 8:32pm
BritishInvasionBrinley:

Have heard some of these live recordings but not others; to hear them all in one cohesive listen has been a revelation. Thank you Andrew!
Avatar 8:32pm
cometothesunshine:

Well, despite the quality - at least we have our time machine to allow us to hear Denny Laine & The Electric String Band
  8:33pm
Javilu:

Loving this live set!!!
  8:34pm
Eli Miller:

Wonder if any of this 1967/68 Denny musical taste carry over into the 1970's when he was in Wings.
Avatar 8:34pm
Ross66:

No doubt, Carmelita
  8:34pm
