Mr Fab:

WFMU's own Gaylord Fields says that people are always finding Gaylords albums and giving them to him. He's got plenty now.
Avatar 4:03pm

I'm finding more of their stuff all the time.

Mr Fab:

was that the same band? Over 40 years later?!
Avatar 4:07pm

@ Fab, It was a later release.

Carosone is the Italian Spike Jones, or the other way around.

Jan Turkenburg:

Spike Jones, Toby Rix and... Renato Carosone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Spike Jones was the earliest, if I'm not mistaken.
Avatar 4:24pm

@ Jan - I believe you are correct, sir!

Around. Just trying to finish his report today.

Hey egould!

Mr Fab:

there was a fun band called The Korn Kobblers (not to be confused with "Korn"!) who may have preceded Spike Jones. Not sure which was formed first. Looks like they may have released their first records the same year..?

Hi Greg!
Avatar 4:37pm

@ Fab - I think I have heard of (and maybe played) them on my show.
Avatar 4:37pm

Hi Kiki!!
Avatar 4:39pm

@ Fab - there's also Red Ingle and the Natural Seven, who may have been pretty much contemporary with Spike Jones.

On WOR 710 in New York , in early 1960’s my dad use to listen every Sunday morning to the Italian groomers ( like Jerry Vale, Al Martino, as well as Rita Pavone.) This episode brought back memories of that for me , so thanks SBG for the episode! Happy Holiday you all!🍗❤️🍂
