Is everybody happy?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:00pm
WR:

Can you define "happy"?
Avatar 12:01pm
Mr. Oxford:

Hey Jan! Hey WR! I'm happy i guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi WR!
Hi Mr. Oxford!
Avatar 12:02pm
Mr. Oxford:

I love classical music pieces being played by electronic means
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
WR:

There was some early entertainer that used the phrase "Is everybody happy" as their tag line. Clarinetist, band leader Ted Lewis I think.

Mr. Oxford:

This is a pretty neat interpretation of a Beatles song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Ah, thanks for this background. I know the line from a number of pop bands starting their live shows in the 70s and Bonnie St. Claire recorded a song with that title in which you can hear an audience scream "yeah!" (If I'm not mistaken)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
WR:

Typical of our generation, I learned of the entertainer, whom I later learned to be Ted Lewis, from caricatures in some cartoons which were probably made in the 30s or 40s that I saw on TV in the early 60s.
Avatar 12:20pm
Mr. Oxford:

Jan, referring to the images for Synth Widow and Forrest City Joe that show a train coming out of a tunnel that looks like a mouth. Are they from a movie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The Bonnie St Claire song was when she was with Unit Gloria. As a wee little boy I always was jumping around when I heard the song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm

Mr Fab:

Hi Jan!
My wife hears this song years ago and swore they were singing I got a “bass full of divas.” Like a fish filled with female singers. All I had to do was say “bass full of divas” and watch her explode into laughter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Mr Fab! :-)
Avatar 12:43pm
Mr Fab:

I still say it sounds more like that than “fistful of demons.” And makes as much sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I say it makes much more sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm

I wasn't paying attention, published the wrong title. Been corrected now.

Paper Kosmonaut:

Jan, Wasn't it you who played Dengue Fever a couple weeks ago? I did some digging and found more tracks (they are also on Youtube) The band is quite interesting. Based in LA and playing Cambodian 60 psychedelic pop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks Mr Fab, I'll adjust the entry a bit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I remember playing Dengue Fever, indeed
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
WR:

PK, yes Dengue Fever is interesting band. The singer is Cambodian who had some career in Cambodia and then these So Cal musicians came along and get interested in the music and built a band around her. They have several albums I'm pretty sure.

I was surprised seeing a white beardy hipster guy singing those cambodian lyrics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm

The original of Tip my Canoe (the sixties version) is nice too.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
Feldy:

I, too, enjoyed the Dengue Fever/ Had heard of them but hadn't dug in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
MHLee:

Dengue fever plays a lot of the khmer rock from the 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I see they are being aired a fair bit on wfmu.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Jan Turkenburg:

We had a big discussion about khmer rock on rich's show I think last month
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I remember someone mentioning it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Finnish is a fünny langüääge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm

Every finnish noun has 25 cases. Why in the füük would you want to have that?

Jan Turkenburg:

because it will be all about the King of Trolls
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
MHLee:

I have a friend who is hungarian by heritage and lives in serbia. Hungarian and Finnish are cursed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
MHLee:

She's given up on learning them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Finnish and Hungarian have the same root language but that goes back about to the time of Atilla the Hun or thereabout. (-;
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:42pm

Yes, I'll gladly take 4 FDL episodes like this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
