I haven’t hit myself for a while! *whack*

Hi Greg and fellow spacebrothers and -sisters!

Oh yeah, I was a mad home-taping fiend. VCR, too.
  4:02pm
Kat in Chicago:

I just happened to see the FB post :)

Hey Fab!
Yeah, I may lose a few listeners with this new time slot.
Avatar 4:03pm
spacebrother:

My first recording experience was at age 8 or 9 years old with a massive, ancient Ampex reel-to-reel machine.
Avatar 4:06pm
spacebrother:

Then my mom won a cassette machine when she was on "Let's Make A Deal" and I was off to the races.
Avatar 4:07pm
Mr Fab:

Space-momma was on "Let's Make A Deal" , that's awesome!
Avatar 4:11pm
spacebrother:

She went with her friends when we lived in Anaheim and Monty picked her to "make a deal." i remember she when they came and picked her up. I got in trouble in school and got sent home and was able to watch it when it was broadcast.
Avatar 4:13pm
spacebrother:

I mean her friends picked her up in a giant Ford station wagon. She was dressed up as a gypsy, because of course you had to wear a costume so Monty would notice you.
Avatar 4:27pm
Mr Fab:

"I got in trouble in school and got sent home and was able to watch it when it was broadcast." Ooh boy, bet you were REAL sorry!
Avatar 4:27pm

English verse!

Kat in Chicago:

Great story, Greg! I wonder if I saw your mom on TV!
Avatar 4:30pm
Mr Fab:

that Melon song sounded more like B-52s than the Plastics did. Will have to track down their album.
  4:32pm
Kat in Chicago:

Looks like Annabella released music as recently as 2016
Avatar 4:33pm
spacebrother:

The funny thing is that I didn't plan to get in trouble. I was made to stand against the chalkboard and became faint because of the dust. The school got scared and send me home without telling my mom what happened. I certainly didn't mention it!
Avatar 4:35pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - I think Melon only released one official album.
Avatar 4:35pm
spacebrother:

@ Kat - I'll have to look that up!
Avatar 4:36pm
Mr Fab:

This is so "sound-collage." Proto-Negativland.
Avatar 4:37pm
spacebrother:

Yeah, the guy who did it was famous for releasing collections of radio bloopers.
Avatar 4:38pm

and boners.
Avatar 4:42pm
spacebrother:

I may stay on after this for a little while to catch people who are still think I'm on at 2/5.
Avatar 4:43pm
spacebrother:

My keyboard fingers are apparently drunk.
Avatar 4:44pm
Mr Fab:

Sure, going overtime is A-Ok by me.

Really wish they had made more proper recordings in their Mystic Knights era.
Avatar 4:46pm
Mr Fab:

So Beach Boys-y!
Avatar 4:46pm
Mr Fab:

like if The Beach Boys sang for Zappa.
Avatar 4:48pm
spacebrother:

You're right! Makes sense, they also did a cover of "California Girls."
Avatar 4:58pm
Mr Fab:

and Georgie Girl says that there's no bad disco
Avatar 4:58pm
spacebrother:

SHe may be wrong in this case! :D
  4:59pm
Kat in Chicago:

I don’t know if Disco Toilet is the best thing I’ll hear all day, but it’ll probably be my favorite. What a gem.

Kat in Chicago:

When I get on the laptop I’ll clicky-star it
