I'm spooked by the mention of Grizzly Man. Seeing that movie was the "last normal night" before my life was turned upside down by Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent levee failures and flooding of New Orleans. So Katrina and Grizzly Man are forever linked in my mind. The reason I'm spooked? Today's date. If you know, you know.

BTW, if you want to poke around for books, Blue Hill Books is quite good. And The Big Chicken Barn out on the main road has an entire 2nd floor of used books. It's the The Strand but it's as close as we get around here.

Socially/Politically Conservative Spanish Police/Private Security make so many prejudicial actions based upon one's appearance ... Old clothes and an odd hat???
Today there was a new guy at the park entrance .. Simon Skateboards ahead to get a table .. new guy asks me where I am going = with racquet ball racquets sticking out of my wee canvas bag .. I asked him why he is asking me
and no one else??? He shut up and walked off..

Yesterday - Simon and his wee buddies play footie in the neighborhood park every eve =9pm ... again, he goes ahead... I walk in with Simon's football and a classic old Basque Fonton Stick and a young cop tells me I cannot Brin the stick in the park .. It was not the stick... it was my clothing that caused the hassle ... The older copartner explained it is a classic North Spain sports stick and said ..is ok go.." ..

I think this program and host are pretty darn well-liked and -commented on in this space, but I can’t tell you how great the Surface Noise singer-songwriter selections are to me. It really feels like you’ve spent an hour trawling through a good used-record shop’s racks and have brought an armful of promising-looking but unknown (or better, half-known but you don’t know why/when/how) $5-8 records over to the listening station. Kind of a quotidian experience for records people in NYC (I lived a block from the E Village Academy) but really priceless now that I have removed myself to a lesser vector (in order to help meet my beloved dog’s needs).
